Lamentations 3
1 Je suis l'homme qui a vu l'affliction. par le bâton de sa colère.
I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 Il m'a conduit et m'a fait marcher dans les ténèbres, et non dans la lumière.
Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light.
3 Il tourne sa main contre moi encore et encore toute la journée.
Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day.
4 Il a fait vieillir ma chair et ma peau. Il a brisé mes os.
My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones.
5 Il a construit contre moi, et m'a entouré d'amertume et de difficultés.
He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil.
6 Il m'a fait habiter dans des lieux obscurs, comme ceux qui sont morts depuis longtemps.
He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead.
7 Il m'a entouré d'un mur, de sorte que je ne peux pas sortir. Il a rendu ma chaîne lourde.
He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Oui, quand je pleure et appelle à l'aide, il étouffe ma prière.
Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 Il a muré mes chemins avec des pierres de taille. Il a rendu mes chemins tortueux.
He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 Il est pour moi comme un ours aux aguets, comme un lion qui se cache.
He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places.
11 Il a détourné mon chemin, et m'a tiré en morceaux. Il m'a rendu désolant.
He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
12 Il a bandé son arc, et m'a mis comme marque pour la flèche.
He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Il a fait entrer les tiges de son carquois dans mes reins.
He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 Je suis devenu un objet de dérision pour tout mon peuple, et leur chanson toute la journée.
I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day.
15 Il m'a rempli d'amertume. Il m'a bourré d'absinthe.
He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood.
16 Il m'a aussi cassé les dents avec du gravier. Il m'a couvert de cendres.
He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 Tu as éloigné mon âme de la paix. J'ai oublié la prospérité.
And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity.
18 J'ai dit: « Ma force a péri, ainsi que mon attente de Yahvé. »
And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah.
19 Souviens-toi de mon affliction et de ma misère, l'absinthe et l'amertume.
Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.
20 Mon âme se souvient encore d'eux, et s'est incliné en moi.
My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 Je me souviens de cela; c'est pourquoi j'ai de l'espoir.
— This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope.
22 C'est grâce à la bonté de Yahvé que nous ne sommes pas consumés, parce que sa miséricorde ne faiblit pas.
It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;
23 Ils sont nouveaux chaque matin. Grande est ta fidélité.
they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 « Yahvé est mon partage », dit mon âme. « C'est pourquoi j'espère en lui. »
Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 Yahvé est bon pour ceux qui l'attendent, à l'âme qui le cherche.
Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
26 Il est bon que l'homme espère et attendez tranquillement le salut de Yahvé.
It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah.
27 Il est bon pour un homme de porter le joug dans sa jeunesse.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth:
28 Qu'il s'assoie seul et garde le silence, parce qu'il l'a mis sur lui.
He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him;
29 Qu'il mette sa bouche dans la poussière, si c'est pour qu'il y ait de l'espoir.
he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope;
30 Qu'il tende la joue à celui qui le frappe. Qu'il soit rempli de reproches.
he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach.
31 Car l'Éternel ne rejette pas à jamais.
For the Lord will not cast off for ever;
32 Car même s'il cause de la peine, mais il aura de la compassion selon la multitude de ses bontés.
but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses:
33 Car il n'afflige pas volontiers, ni n'afflige les enfants des hommes.
for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
34 Pour écraser sous le pied tous les prisonniers de la terre,
To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
35 pour détourner le droit d'un homme devant la face du Très-Haut,
to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
36 pour subvertir un homme dans sa cause, le Seigneur n'approuve pas.
to wrong a man in his cause, — will not the Lord see it?
37 Qui est celui qui dit, et il s'accomplit, quand le Seigneur ne l'ordonne pas?
Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?
38 Le mal et le bien ne sortent-ils pas de la bouche du Très-Haut?
Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good?
39 Pourquoi un homme vivant devrait-il se plaindre, un homme pour la punition de ses péchés?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Cherchons et essayons nos voies, et se tourner à nouveau vers Yahvé.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.
41 Élevons notre cœur avec nos mains vers Dieu dans les cieux.
Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto God in the heavens.
42 « Nous avons transgressé et nous nous sommes rebellés. Vous n'avez pas pardonné.
We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 « Tu nous as couverts de colère et tu nous as poursuivis. Vous avez tué. Vous n'avez pas eu pitié.
Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not spared.
44 Tu t'es couvert d'un nuage, afin qu'aucune prière ne puisse passer.
Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through.
45 Tu as fait de nous un déchet et une ordure au milieu des peuples.
Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
46 « Tous nos ennemis ont ouvert grand la bouche contre nous.
All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
47 La terreur et le gouffre se sont abattus sur nous, la dévastation et la destruction ».
Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin.
48 Mon œil coule avec des ruisseaux d'eau, pour la destruction de la fille de mon peuple.
Mine eye runneth down with streams of water for the ruin of the daughter of my people.
49 Mon œil se déverse et ne cesse pas, sans aucun entracte,
Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
50 jusqu'à ce que Yahvé regarde en bas, et voit du ciel.
till Jehovah look down and behold from the heavens.
51 Mon œil affecte mon âme, à cause de toutes les filles de ma ville.
Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Ils m'ont poursuivi sans relâche comme un oiseau, ceux qui sont mes ennemis sans raison.
They that are mine enemies without cause have chased me sore like a bird.
53 Ils m'ont ôté la vie dans le cachot, et ont jeté une pierre sur moi.
They have cut off my life in a pit, and cast a stone upon me.
54 Les eaux ont coulé au-dessus de ma tête. J'ai dit: « Je suis coupé. »
Waters streamed over my head; I said, I am cut off.
55 J'ai invoqué ton nom, Yahvé, hors du donjon le plus bas.
I called upon thy name, Jehovah, out of the lowest pit.
56 Vous avez entendu ma voix: « Ne cache pas ton oreille de mes soupirs, et mon cri. »
Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my sighing, at my cry.
57 Tu t'es approché le jour où je t'ai invoqué. Vous avez dit: « N'ayez pas peur. »
Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou saidst, Fear not.
58 Seigneur, tu as plaidé les causes de mon âme. Tu as racheté ma vie.
Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
59 Yahvé, tu as vu mon tort. Jugez ma cause.
Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60 Tu as vu toute leur vengeance et tous leurs plans contre moi.
Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their imaginations against me.
61 Tu as entendu leurs reproches, Yahvé, et tous leurs plans contre moi,
Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, all their imaginations against me;
62 les lèvres de ceux qui se sont élevés contre moi, et leurs complots contre moi toute la journée.
the lips of those that rise up against me and their meditation against me all the day.
63 Vous voyez qu'ils s'assoient et qu'ils se lèvent. Je suis leur chanson.
Behold thou their sitting down and their rising up: I am their song.
64 Tu les rembourseras, Yahvé, selon le travail de leurs mains.
Render unto them a recompence, O Jehovah, according to the work of their hands;
65 Tu leur donneras la dureté du cœur, votre malédiction pour eux.
give them obduracy of heart, thy curse unto them;
66 Tu les poursuivras dans la colère, et les faire disparaître de sous les cieux de Yahvé.
pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Jehovah.
