< Juges 1 >
1 Après la mort de Josué, les enfants d'Israël demandèrent à Yahvé: « Qui montera pour nous le premier contre les Cananéens, pour les combattre? »
And it was after [the] death of Joshua and they enquired [the] people of Israel by Yahweh saying who? will he go up for us against the Canaanite[s] at the first to engage in battle against him.
2 Yahvé dit: « Juda montera. Voici, j'ai livré le pays entre ses mains. »
And he said Yahweh Judah he will go up here! I have given the land in hand his.
3 Juda dit à Siméon, son frère: « Monte avec moi dans mon lot, afin que nous combattions les Cananéens; et moi aussi, je monterai avec toi dans ton lot. » Siméon alla donc avec lui.
And he said Judah to Simeon brother his come up with me in lot my so let us fight against the Canaanite[s] and I will go also I with you in lot your and he went with him Simeon.
4 Juda monta, et Yahvé livra entre leurs mains les Cananéens et les Phéréziens. Ils frappèrent dix mille hommes à Bézek.
And he went up Judah and he gave Yahweh the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s] in hand their and they defeated them at Bezek ten thousand man.
5 Ils trouvèrent Adoni-Bézek à Bézek, et ils lui livrèrent bataille. Ils battirent les Cananéens et les Phéréziens.
And they found Adoni-Bezek at Bezek and they fought against him and they defeated the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s].
6 Mais Adoni-Bézek s'enfuit. Ils le poursuivirent, l'attrapèrent, et lui coupèrent les pouces et les gros orteils.
And he fled Adoni-Bezek and they pursued after him and they seized him and they cut off [the] thumbs of hands his and feet his.
7 Adoni-Bézek dit: « Soixante-dix rois, qui ont eu les pouces et les gros orteils coupés, ont fait les poubelles sous ma table. Ce que j'ai fait, Dieu me l'a fait. » On le conduisit à Jérusalem, où il mourut.
And he said Adoni-Bezek seventy - kings [the] thumbs of hands their and feet their cut off they were gathering up under table my just as I have done so he has repaid to me God and they brought him Jerusalem and he died there.
8 Les fils de Juda combattirent contre Jérusalem, la prirent, la frappèrent du tranchant de l'épée et mirent le feu à la ville.
And they fought [the] descendants of Judah against Jerusalem and they captured it and they struck it to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the city they sent in fire.
9 Après cela, les fils de Juda descendirent pour combattre les Cananéens qui habitaient dans la montagne, dans le midi et dans la plaine.
And after they went down [the] descendants of Judah to fight against the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of the hill country and the Negev and the Shephelah.
10 Juda marcha contre les Cananéens qui habitaient à Hébron. (Le nom d'Hébron était auparavant Kiriath Arba.) Ils frappèrent Sheshai, Ahiman et Talmai.
And he went Judah against the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Hebron and [the] name of Hebron before [was] Kiriath Arba and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.
11 De là, il alla contre les habitants de Debir. (Le nom de Debir était auparavant Kiriath Sepher.)
And he went from there against [the] inhabitants of Debir and [the] name of Debir before [was] Kiriath Sepher.
12 Caleb dit: « Je donnerai ma fille Acsa pour femme à l'homme qui frappera Kiriath Sepher et la prendra. »
And he said Caleb [the one] who he will strike Kiriath Sepher and he will capture it and I will give to him Achsah daughter my to a wife.
13 Othniel, fils de Kenaz, frère cadet de Caleb, la prit, et il lui donna pour femme sa fille Acsa.
And he captured it Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him and he gave to him Achsah daughter his to a wife.
14 Quand elle arriva, elle lui demanda de demander un champ à son père. Elle descendit de son âne; et Caleb lui dit: « Que veux-tu? »
And it was when came she and she incited him to ask from with father her the field and she went down from on the donkey and he said to her Caleb what? [is] to you.
15 Elle lui dit: « Donne-moi une bénédiction; puisque tu m'as établie dans le pays du Midi, donne-moi aussi des sources d'eau. » Et Caleb lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.
And she said to him give! to me a blessing for [the] land of the Negev you have given to me and you will give to me springs of water and he gave to her Caleb springs upper and springs lower.
16 Les fils du Kénite, beau-frère de Moïse, montèrent de la ville des palmiers avec les fils de Juda dans le désert de Juda, qui est au sud d'Arad, et ils allèrent habiter avec le peuple.
And [the] descendants of [the] Kenite [the] father-in-law of Moses they went up from [the] city of the palm trees with [the] descendants of Judah [the] wilderness of Judah which [is] in [the] Negev Arad and he went and he dwelt with the people.
17 Juda partit avec Siméon, son frère, et ils frappèrent les Cananéens qui habitaient Zéphath, et la détruisirent par interdit. Le nom de la ville fut appelé Horma.
And he went Judah with Simeon brother his and they attacked the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of Zephath and they totally destroyed it and he called [the] name of the city Hormah.
18 Juda prit aussi Gaza et son territoire, Ashkelon et son territoire, et Ekron et son territoire.
And he captured Judah Gaza and territory its and Ashkelon and territory its and Ekron and territory its.
19 L'Éternel fut avec Juda, et il chassa les habitants de la montagne, car il ne put chasser les habitants de la vallée, parce qu'ils avaient des chars de fer.
And he was Yahweh (with *L(abh)*) Judah and it took possession of the hill country for not to dispossess [the] inhabitants of the valley for chariotry of iron [belonged] to them.
20 On donna Hébron à Caleb, comme Moïse l'avait dit, et il en chassa les trois fils d'Anak.
And people gave to Caleb Hebron just as he had said Moses and he dispossessed from there three [the] sons of Anak.
21 Les fils de Benjamin ne chassèrent pas les Jébusiens qui habitaient Jérusalem, mais les Jébusiens habitent avec les fils de Benjamin à Jérusalem jusqu'à ce jour.
And the Jebusite[s] [who] dwelt of Jerusalem not they dispossessed [the] descendants of Benjamin and he has dwelt the Jebusite[s] with [the] descendants of Benjamin in Jerusalem until the day this.
22 La maison de Joseph monta aussi contre Béthel, et l'Éternel fut avec eux.
And they went up [the] house of Joseph also they Beth-el and Yahweh [was] with them.
23 La maison de Joseph envoya espionner Béthel.
And they caused to spy out [the] house of Joseph at Beth-el and [the] name of the city before [was] Luz.
24 Les observateurs virent un homme sortir de la ville et ils lui dirent: « Montre-nous l'entrée de la ville, et nous te traiterons avec bienveillance. »
And they saw those [who] watched a man coming out from the city and they said to him show us please [the] entrance of the city and we will do with you loyalty.
25 Il leur montra l'entrée de la ville, et ils frappèrent la ville du tranchant de l'épée; mais ils laissèrent partir l'homme et toute sa famille.
And he showed them [the] entrance of the city and they struck the city to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the man and all family his they let go.
26 L'homme alla dans le pays des Hittites, bâtit une ville et l'appela Luz, nom qu'elle porte encore aujourd'hui.
And he went the man [the] land of the Hittites and he built a city and he called name its Luz that [is] name its until the day this.
27 Manassé ne chassa pas les habitants de Beth Shean et de ses villes, ni de Taanach et de ses villes, ni les habitants de Dor et de ses villes, ni les habitants d'Ibleam et de ses villes, ni les habitants de Megiddo et de ses villes; mais les Cananéens demeurèrent dans ce pays.
And not it took possession of Manasseh Beth Shean and daughters its and Taanach and daughters its and ([the] inhabitants of *Q(K)*) Dor and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Ibleam and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Megiddo and daughters its and it was determined the Canaanite[s] to dwell in the land this.
28 Lorsqu'Israël fut devenu fort, il mit les Cananéens au travail forcé et ne les chassa pas complètement.
And it was that it became strong Israel and it made the Canaanite[s] into forced labor and certainly not it dispossessed him.
29 Ephraïm ne chassa pas les Cananéens qui habitaient à Guézer, mais les Cananéens habitèrent à Guézer au milieu d'eux.
And Ephraim not it dispossessed the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Gezer and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its in Gezer.
30 Zabulon ne chassa pas les habitants de Kitron ni ceux de Nahalol, mais les Cananéens habitèrent parmi eux et furent soumis au travail forcé.
Zebulun not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Kitron and [the] inhabitants of Nahalol and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its and they became forced labor.
31 Asher ne chassa pas les habitants d'Acco, ni ceux de Sidon, ni ceux d'Ahlab, ni ceux d'Achzib, ni ceux d'Helba, ni ceux d'Aphik, ni ceux de Rehob;
Asher not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Acco and [the] inhabitants of Sidon and Ahlab and Aczib and Helbah and Aphek and Rehob.
32 mais les Asher habitèrent parmi les Cananéens, habitants du pays, car ils ne les chassèrent pas.
And it dwelt the Asherite[s] in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land for not it dispossessed it.
33 Nephtali ne chassa pas les habitants de Beth Shemesh ni ceux de Beth Anath, mais il habita au milieu des Cananéens, habitants du pays. Néanmoins, les habitants de Beth Shemesh et de Beth Anath furent soumis au travail forcé.
Naphtali not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and [the] inhabitants of Beth Anath and it dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land and [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath they became for them forced labor.
34 Les Amorrhéens forcèrent les enfants de Dan à aller dans la montagne, car ils ne leur permirent pas de descendre dans la vallée;
And they pressed the Amorite[s] [the] descendants of Dan the hill country towards for not it permitted it to go down to the valley.
35 mais les Amorrhéens habitèrent au mont Hérès, à Aijalon et à Shaalbim. Mais la main de la maison de Joseph l'emporta, de sorte qu'ils furent soumis au travail forcé.
And it was determined the Amorite[s] to dwell in [the] mountain of Heres in Aijalon and in Shaalbim and it was heavy [the] hand of [the] house of Joseph and they became forced labor.
36 La frontière des Amoréens s'étendait depuis la montée d'Akrabbim, depuis le rocher et vers le haut.
And [the] border of the Amorite[s] [was] from [the] ascent of scorpions from Sela and up-wards.
