1 Après cela, Jésus s'en alla de l'autre côté de la mer de Galilée, qu'on appelle aussi mer de Tibériade.
After these thinges, Iesus went his way ouer the sea of Galile, which is Tiberias.
2 Une grande foule le suivait, parce qu'elle voyait les miracles qu'il faisait sur les malades.
And a great multitude followed him, because they sawe his miracles, which hee did on them that were diseased.
3 Jésus monta sur la montagne, où il s'assit avec ses disciples.
Then Iesus went vp into a mountaine, and there he sate with his disciples.
4 Or, la Pâque, la fête des Juifs, était proche.
Now the Passeouer, a feast of the Iewes, was neere.
5 Jésus, levant les yeux et voyant qu'une grande foule venait à lui, dit à Philippe: « Où achèterons-nous des pains, pour que ceux-ci mangent? »
Then Iesus lift vp his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude came vnto him, hee sayde vnto Philippe, Whence shall we buy breade, that these might eate?
6 Il disait cela pour l'éprouver, car il savait lui-même ce qu'il ferait.
(And this he sayde to prooue him: for hee himselfe knewe what he would doe.)
7 Philippe lui répondit: « Deux cents deniers de pain ne suffisent pas pour eux, afin que chacun en reçoive un peu. »
Philippe answered him, Two hundreth penie worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that euery one of them may take a litle.
8 Un de ses disciples, André, frère de Simon Pierre, lui dit:
Then saide vnto him one of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother,
9 « Il y a ici un garçon qui a cinq pains d'orge et deux poissons, mais qu'est-ce que c'est, parmi tant d'autres? »
There is a little boy heere, which hath fiue barlie loaues, and two fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 Jésus dit: « Faites asseoir les gens. » Or, il y avait beaucoup d'herbe en ce lieu. Les hommes s'assirent donc, au nombre d'environ cinq mille.
And Iesus saide, Make ye people sit downe. (Nowe there was much grasse in that place.) Then the men sate downe in nomber, about fiue thousande.
11 Jésus prit les pains; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les distribua aux disciples, et les disciples à ceux qui étaient assis; ils prirent aussi du poisson, autant qu'ils en voulurent.
And Iesus tooke the bread, and gaue thanks, and gaue to the disciples, and the disciples, to them that were set downe: and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 Lorsqu'ils furent rassasiés, il dit à ses disciples: Ramassez les morceaux qui restent, afin que rien ne soit perdu. »
And when they were satisfied, he said vnto his disciples, Gather vp the broken meat which remaineth, that nothing be lost.
13 Ils les ramassèrent donc, et remplirent douze paniers avec les morceaux des cinq pains d'orge qui restaient de ceux qui avaient mangé.
Then they gathered it together, and filled twelue baskets with the broken meat of the fiue barly loaues, which remained vnto them that had eaten.
14 Lorsque les gens virent le signe que Jésus faisait, ils dirent: C'est vraiment le prophète qui vient dans le monde. »
Then the men, when they had seene the miracle that Iesus did, saide, This is of a trueth that Prophet that should come into the world.
15 Jésus, sachant qu'ils allaient venir le prendre de force pour le faire roi, se retira de nouveau seul sur la montagne.
When Iesus therfore perceiued that they would come, and take him to make him a King, hee departed againe into a mountaine himselfe alone.
16 Le soir venu, ses disciples descendirent à la mer.
When euen was nowe come, his disciples went downe vnto the sea,
17 Ils montèrent dans la barque, et traversèrent la mer pour se rendre à Capernaüm. Il faisait déjà nuit, et Jésus n'était pas venu à eux.
And entred into a shippe, and went ouer the sea, towardes Capernaum: and nowe it was darke, and Iesus was not come to them.
18 La mer était agitée par un grand vent qui soufflait.
And the Sea arose with a great winde that blewe.
19 Après avoir ramé environ vingt-cinq ou trente stades, ils virent Jésus qui marchait sur la mer et s'approchait de la barque; et ils eurent peur.
And when they had rowed about fiue and twentie, or thirtie furlongs, they sawe Iesus walking on the sea, and drawing neere vnto the ship: so they were afraide.
20 Mais il leur dit: « C'est moi; n'ayez pas peur. »
But he said vnto them, It is I: be not afraid.
21 Ils voulurent donc le recevoir dans la barque. Aussitôt, la barque fut près de la terre où ils allaient.
Then willingly they receiued him into the ship, and the ship was by and by at the lande, whither they went.
22 Le lendemain, la foule qui se tenait de l'autre côté de la mer vit qu'il n'y avait là aucune autre barque que celle dans laquelle ses disciples s'étaient embarqués, et que Jésus n'était pas monté avec ses disciples dans la barque, mais que ses disciples étaient partis seuls.
The day following, the people which stoode on the other side of the sea, saw that there was none other ship there, saue that one, whereinto his disciples were entred, and that Iesus went not with his disciples in the ship, but that his disciples were gone alone,
23 Cependant, des barques venant de Tibériade s'approchaient du lieu où ils mangeaient le pain après que le Seigneur eut rendu grâces.
And that there came other ships from Tiberias neere vnto the place where they ate the bread, after the Lord had giuen thankes.
24 La foule, voyant que Jésus n'était pas là, ni ses disciples, monta elle-même dans les barques et vint à Capharnaüm, cherchant Jésus.
Nowe when the people sawe that Iesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also tooke shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Iesus.
25 L'ayant trouvé de l'autre côté de la mer, ils lui demandèrent: « Rabbi, quand es-tu venu ici? »
And when they had founde him on the other side of the sea, they sayde vnto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26 Jésus leur répondit: Je vous le dis en vérité, vous me cherchez, non parce que vous avez vu des miracles, mais parce que vous avez mangé des pains et que vous avez été rassasiés.
Iesus answered them; and sayde, Verely, verely I say vnto you, ye seeke me not because ye sawe the miracles, but because yee ate of ye loaues, and were filled.
27 Ne cherchez pas la nourriture qui périt, mais celle qui subsiste pour la vie éternelle, et que le Fils de l'homme vous donnera. Car Dieu le Père l'a scellé. » (aiōnios g166)
Labour not for ye meate which perisheth, but for the meate that endureth vnto euerlasting life, which the Sonne of man shall giue vnto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. (aiōnios g166)
28 Ils lui dirent donc: « Que devons-nous faire, pour accomplir les œuvres de Dieu? »
Then sayde they vnto him, What shall we doe, that we might worke the workes of God?
29 Jésus leur répondit: « L'œuvre de Dieu, c'est que vous croyez en celui qu'il a envoyé. »
Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, This is the woorke of God, that yee beleeue in him, whome he hath sent.
30 Ils lui dirent donc: « Que fais-tu donc comme signe, pour que nous te voyions et que nous te croyions? Quelle œuvre fais-tu?
They sayde therefore vnto him, What signe shewest thou then, that we may see it, and beleeue thee? what doest thou woorke?
31 Nos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert. Selon qu'il est écrit: « Il leur donna du pain du ciel à manger. »
Our fathers did eate Manna in the desart, as it is written, Hee gaue them bread from heauen to eate.
32 Jésus leur dit donc: « En vérité, je vous le dis, ce n'est pas Moïse qui vous a donné le pain du ciel, mais mon Père vous donne le vrai pain du ciel.
Then Iesus said vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, Moses gaue you not that bread from heauen, but my Father giueth you that true bread from heauen.
33 Car le pain de Dieu, c'est celui qui descend du ciel et qui donne la vie au monde. »
For the breade of God is hee which commeth downe from heauen, and giueth life vnto the world.
34 Ils lui dirent donc: « Seigneur, donne-nous toujours ce pain. »
Then they said vnto him, Lord, euermore giue vs this bread.
35 Jésus leur dit: « Je suis le pain de la vie. Celui qui vient à moi n'aura pas faim, et celui qui croit en moi n'aura jamais soif.
And Iesus saide vnto them, I am that bread of life: he that commeth to me, shall not hunger, and he that beleeueth in me, shall neuer thirst.
36 Mais je vous ai dit que vous m'avez vu, et pourtant vous ne croyez pas.
But I said vnto you, that ye also haue seene me, and beleeue not.
37 Tous ceux que le Père me donne viendront à moi. Et je ne mettrai pas dehors celui qui vient à moi.
All that the Father giueth me, shall come to mee: and him that commeth to me, I cast not away.
38 Car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire, non pas ma propre volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.
For I came downe from heauen, not to do mine owne wil, but his wil which hath sent me.
39 Or, la volonté de mon Père qui m'a envoyé, c'est que je ne perde rien de tout ce qu'il m'a donné, mais que je le ressuscite au dernier jour.
And this is the Fathers will which hath sent mee, that of all which hee hath giuen mee, I should lose nothing, but shoulde raise it vp againe at the last day.
40 Telle est la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé: que quiconque voit le Fils et croit en lui ait la vie éternelle; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. » (aiōnios g166)
And this is the will of him that sent mee, that euery man which seeth the Sonne, and beleeueth in him, should haue euerlasting life: and I will raise him vp at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
41 Les Juifs murmuraient donc à son sujet, parce qu'il avait dit: « Je suis le pain descendu du ciel. »
The Iewes then murmured at him because hee sayde, I am that bread, which is come downe from heauen.
42 Ils disaient: « N'est-ce pas là Jésus, fils de Joseph, dont nous connaissons le père et la mère? Comment peut-il donc dire: « Je suis descendu du ciel? »
And they said, Is not this Iesus that sonne of Ioseph, whose father and mother wee knowe? howe then sayth he, I came downe from heauen?
43 Jésus leur répondit: « Ne murmurez pas entre vous.
Iesus then answered, and saide vnto them, Murmure not among your selues.
44 Nul ne peut venir à moi si le Père qui m'a envoyé ne l'attire; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
No man can come to mee, except the Father, which hath sent mee, drawe him: and I will raise him vp at the last day.
45 Il est écrit dans les prophètes: « Tous seront instruits par Dieu. C'est pourquoi tous ceux qui entendent du Père et qui ont appris, viennent à moi.
It is written in the Prophetes, And they shalbe al taught of God. Euery man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, commeth vnto me:
46 Ce n'est pas que quelqu'un ait vu le Père, sinon celui qui vient de Dieu. Lui, il a vu le Père.
Not that any man hath seene the Father, saue hee which is of God, hee hath seene the Father.
Verely, verely I say vnto you, hee that beleeueth in me, hath euerlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Je suis le pain de la vie.
I am that bread of life.
49 Vos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert et ils sont morts.
Your fathers did eate Manna in the wildernesse, and are dead.
50 C'est ici le pain qui descend du ciel, afin que quiconque en mange et ne meure pas.
This is that breade, which commeth downe from heauen, that hee which eateth of it, shoulde not die.
51 Je suis le pain vivant qui est descendu du ciel. Si quelqu'un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement. Oui, le pain que je donnerai pour la vie du monde, c'est ma chair. » (aiōn g165)
I am that liuing breade, which came downe from heauen: if any man eate of this breade, hee shall liue for euer: and the bread that I will giue, is my flesh, which I will giue for the life of the world. (aiōn g165)
52 Les Juifs se disputaient donc entre eux, disant: « Comment cet homme peut-il nous donner sa chair à manger? »
Then the Iewes stroue among themselues, saying, Howe can this man giue vs his flesh to eate?
53 Jésus leur dit donc: « Je vous le dis en vérité, si vous ne mangez pas la chair du Fils de l'homme et ne buvez pas son sang, vous n'avez pas la vie en vous-mêmes.
Then Iesus saide vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, Except yee eate the flesh of the Sonne of man, and drinke his blood, yee haue no life in you.
54 Celui qui mange ma chair et boit mon sang a la vie éternelle, et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. (aiōnios g166)
Whosoeuer eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternall life, and I will raise him vp at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Car ma chair est vraiment une nourriture, et mon sang est vraiment une boisson.
For my flesh is meat in deede, and my blood is drinke in deede.
56 Celui qui mange ma chair et boit mon sang vit en moi, et moi en lui.
Hee that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 Comme le Père qui est vivant m'a envoyé, et que je vis par le Père, ainsi celui qui se nourrit de moi vivra aussi par moi.
As that liuing Father hath sent me, so liue I by the Father, and he that eateth me, euen he shall liue by me.
58 Ceci est le pain qui est descendu du ciel, et non pas comme nos pères ont mangé la manne et sont morts. Celui qui mange ce pain vivra éternellement. » (aiōn g165)
This is that bread which came downe from heauen: not as your fathers haue eaten Manna, and are deade. Hee that eateth of this bread, shall liue for euer. (aiōn g165)
59 Il disait ces choses dans la synagogue, comme il enseignait à Capharnaüm.
These things spake he in the Synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 C'est pourquoi plusieurs de ses disciples, après avoir entendu cela, dirent: « Cette parole est difficile à entendre. Qui peut l'écouter? »
Many therefore of his disciples (when they heard this) sayde, This is an hard saying: who can heare it?
61 Mais Jésus, sachant en lui-même que ses disciples murmuraient à ce sujet, leur dit: « Cela vous fait-il trébucher?
But Iesus knowing in himselfe, that his disciples murmured at this, saide vnto them, Doeth this offend you?
62 Et si vous voyiez le Fils de l'homme monter là où il était auparavant?
What then if yee should see that Sonne of man ascend vp where he was before?
63 C'est l'esprit qui donne la vie. La chair ne sert à rien. Les paroles que je vous dis sont esprit, et elles sont vie.
It is the spirite that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing: the woordes that I speake vnto you, are spirite and life.
64 Mais il y en a parmi vous qui ne croient pas. » Car Jésus savait dès le commencement qui étaient ceux qui ne croyaient pas, et qui était celui qui le livrerait.
But there are some of you that beleeue not: for Iesus knewe from the beginning, which they were that beleeued not, and who shoulde betray him.
65 Il dit: « C'est pourquoi je vous ai dit que personne ne peut venir à moi, si cela ne lui est donné par mon Père. »
And hee saide, Therefore saide I vnto you, that no man can come vnto mee, except it be giuen vnto him of my Father.
66 A cela, plusieurs de ses disciples s'en retournèrent et ne marchèrent plus avec lui.
From that time, many of his disciples went backe, and walked no more with him.
67 Jésus dit alors aux douze: « Vous aussi, vous ne voulez pas vous en aller, n'est-ce pas? »
Then sayde Iesus to the twelue, Will yee also goe away?
68 Simon-Pierre lui répondit: « Seigneur, à qui irions-nous? Tu as les paroles de la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
Then Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whome shall we goe? thou hast the wordes of eternall life: (aiōnios g166)
69 Nous avons fini par croire et par savoir que tu es le Christ, le Fils du Dieu vivant. »
And we beleeue and knowe that thou art that Christ that Sonne of the liuing God.
70 Jésus leur répondit: « Ne vous ai-je pas choisis, vous les douze, et l'un de vous est un démon? »
Iesus answered them, Haue not I chosen you twelue, and one of you is a deuill?
71 Or, il parlait de Judas, fils de Simon Iscariote, car c'était lui qui allait le trahir, étant l'un des douze.
Now he spake it of Iudas Iscariot the sonne of Simon: for hee it was that shoulde betraie him, though he was one of the twelue.
