1 Après ces choses, il y eut une fête des Juifs, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
After these things was the feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up into Jerusalem.
2 Or, il y a à Jérusalem, près de la porte des brebis, une piscine appelée en hébreu « Béthesda », et comportant cinq portiques.
And there is a pool at the sheep-market, called in Hebrew Bethzatha, having five porches.
3 Une grande foule de malades, d'aveugles, de boiteux ou de paralytiques y étaient couchés, attendant que l'eau se mette à bouger.
In them a multitude of the sick, blind, lame, withered, were lying down.
4 Car un ange descendait à certains moments dans la piscine et remuait l'eau. Celui qui entrait le premier après le remuement de l'eau était guéri de la maladie qu'il avait.
5 Il y avait là un homme qui était malade depuis trente-huit ans.
And a certain man was there, being thirty-eight years in his infirmity;
6 Jésus, l'ayant vu couché là, et sachant qu'il était malade depuis longtemps, lui demanda: « Veux-tu être guéri? »
Jesus seeing him lying down, and knowing that he already has much time, says to him; Do you wish to be whole?
7 Le malade lui répondit: « Seigneur, je n'ai personne pour me mettre dans la piscine quand l'eau est agitée, mais pendant que je viens, un autre descend devant moi. »
The sick man responded to Him, Lord, I have no man that may put me in the pool, when the water may be troubled: and while I come, another goes down before me.
8 Jésus lui dit: « Lève-toi, prends ton grabat, et marche. »
And Jesus says to him, Arise, take thy bed, and walk about.
9 Aussitôt, l'homme fut guéri, il reprit son tapis et marcha. Or, ce jour-là était un sabbat.
And the man was made whole, and he took up his bed and continued to walk about. And it was the Sabbath on that day.
10 Les Juifs dirent donc à celui qui avait été guéri: « C'est le sabbat. Il ne t'est pas permis de porter le tapis. »
Then the Jews were saying to the healed man, It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 Il leur répondit: « Celui qui m'a guéri m'a dit: 'Prends ton tapis et marche'. »
He responded to them, the one having made me whole, He said to me, Take thy bed, and walk about.
12 Ils lui demandèrent alors: « Qui est l'homme qui t'a dit: « Prends ton tapis et marche »? »
They asked him, Who is the man who said to thee, Take thy bed, and walk about?
13 Mais celui qui avait été guéri ne savait pas qui c'était, car Jésus s'était retiré, une foule étant dans le lieu.
And the sick man did not know who He is: for Jesus went out, the crowd being in the place.
14 Après cela, Jésus le trouva dans le temple et lui dit: « Voici que tu es guéri. Ne pèche plus, afin qu'il ne t'arrive rien de pire. »
And after these things, Jesus finds him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou hast been made whole: sin no more, lest something worse may come on thee.
15 L'homme s'en alla, et raconta aux Juifs que c'était Jésus qui l'avait guéri.
And the man departed, and said to the Jews, that Jesus is the one having made him whole.
16 C'est pourquoi les Juifs persécutèrent Jésus et cherchèrent à le faire mourir, parce qu'il faisait ces choses le jour du sabbat.
And on account of this the Jews continued to persecute Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.
17 Mais Jésus leur répondit: « Mon Père travaille encore, et moi aussi je travaille. »
And He responded to them, My Father worketh until now, and I work.
18 C'est pourquoi les Juifs cherchaient d'autant plus à le faire mourir, que non seulement il violait le sabbat, mais encore qu'il appelait Dieu son propre Père, se faisant ainsi l'égal de Dieu.
Therefore the Jews the more sought to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but said that God was His Father, making himself equal to God.
19 Jésus leur répondit: « En vérité, je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de lui-même, sinon ce qu'il voit faire au Père. Car tout ce que celui-ci fait, le Fils le fait aussi.
Then Jesus responded and said to them, Truly, truly, I say unto you, The Son is not able to do anything Himself, unless He may see the Father doing it: for whatsoever He may do, the Son likewise also doeth the same.
20 Car le Père a de l'affection pour le Fils, et il lui montre tout ce qu'il fait lui-même. Il lui montrera des œuvres plus grandes que celles-ci, afin que vous vous étonniez.
For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth Him all things which He doeth; and will show Him greater things than these, in order that you may be astonished.
21 En effet, comme le Père ressuscite les morts et leur donne la vie, de même le Fils aussi donne la vie à qui il veut.
For as the Father raiseth up the dead and createth life in them, so the Son also createth life in whom He will.
22 Car le Père ne juge personne, mais il a remis tout jugement au Fils,
For the Father judgeth no one, for He hath given all judgment to the Son;
23 afin que tous honorent le Fils, comme ils honorent le Père. Celui qui n'honore pas le Fils n'honore pas le Père qui l'a envoyé.
in order that all may honor the Son, as they may honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father who sent Him.
24 Je vous le dis en vérité, celui qui écoute ma parole et croit à celui qui m'a envoyé a la vie éternelle, et il ne vient pas en jugement, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie. (aiōnios g166)
Truly, truly, I say unto you, that every one hearing my word, and believing on Him that sent me hath eternal life, and doth not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)
25 Je vous le dis en vérité, l'heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les morts entendront la voix du Fils de Dieu, et ceux qui l'auront entendue vivront.
Truly, truly, I say unto you, that the hour cometh and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and having heard will live.
26 Car, comme le Père a la vie en lui-même, de même il a donné au Fils d'avoir aussi la vie en lui-même.
For as the Father hath life in Himself, so also He has given to His Son to have life also in Himself.
27 Il lui a aussi donné le pouvoir de juger, parce qu'il est fils de l'homme.
And He hath given Him authority to execute the judgment, because He is the Son of man.
28 Ne vous étonnez pas de cela, car l'heure vient où tous ceux qui sont dans les tombeaux entendront sa voix
Do not be astonished at this: because the hour cometh, in which all who are in their graves will hear His voice,
29 et sortiront, ceux qui ont fait le bien pour la résurrection de la vie, et ceux qui ont fait le mal pour la résurrection du jugement.
and come forth; those having done good, unto the resurrection of life; and those having done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.
30 Je ne peux rien faire de moi-même. Comme j'entends, je juge; et mon jugement est juste, parce que je ne cherche pas ma propre volonté, mais la volonté de mon Père qui m'a envoyé.
I am not able to do anything of myself: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I do not seek my own will, but the will of the One having sent me.
31 « Si je témoigne de moi-même, mon témoignage n'est pas valable.
If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true.
32 C'est un autre qui témoigne de moi. Je sais que le témoignage qu'il rend de moi est vrai.
There is another who testifieth concerning me; and you know that the testimony which He testifies concerning me is true.
33 Tu as envoyé vers Jean, et il a rendu témoignage à la vérité.
You sent to John, and he witnessed to the truth:
34 Mais le témoignage que je reçois ne vient pas d'un homme. Cependant, je dis ces choses afin que vous soyez sauvés.
but I do not receive the witness with man: but I speak these things that you may be saved.
35 Il était la lampe ardente et brillante, et vous avez bien voulu vous réjouir pour un temps de sa lumière.
He was a bright and shining light: and you were willing to rejoice for an hour in that light.
36 Mais le témoignage que je rends est plus grand que celui de Jean; en effet, les œuvres que le Père m'a donné à accomplir, les œuvres mêmes que je fais, rendent témoignage de moi, que le Père m'a envoyé.
But I have a testimony greater than that of John: for the works that the Father hath given me that I may perfect them, these works which I do, testify concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 Le Père lui-même, qui m'a envoyé, a rendu témoignage de moi. Vous n'avez jamais entendu sa voix, ni vu sa figure.
And the Father having sent me, He hath testified concerning me: never have you heard His voice, neither have you seen His face:
38 Vous n'avez pas sa parole qui vit en vous, parce que vous ne croyez pas à celui qu'il a envoyé.
and you have not His word abiding in you: because you do not believe Him whom He has sent.
39 Vous sondez les Écritures, parce que vous pensez avoir en elles la vie éternelle; ce sont elles qui rendent témoignage de moi. (aiōnios g166)
Search the Scriptures, because in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify concerning me; (aiōnios g166)
40 Mais vous ne voulez pas venir à moi, pour avoir la vie.
and you do not wish to come unto me, in order that you may have life.
41 Je ne reçois pas de gloire des hommes.
I do not receive glory with men;
42 Mais je vous connais, et je sais que vous n'avez pas en vous l'amour de Dieu.
but I know you that you have not the love of God in you.
43 Je suis venu au nom de mon Père, et vous ne me recevez pas. Si un autre vient en son propre nom, vous le recevrez.
I have come in the name of my Father, and you do not receive me: if another may come in his own name, you will receive him.
44 Comment pouvez-vous croire, vous qui recevez la gloire les uns des autres, et vous qui ne cherchez pas la gloire qui vient du Dieu unique?
How are you able to believe, receiving glory from one another, and do not seek the glory which is with God only?
45 « Ne pensez pas que je vous accuserai devant le Père. Il y en a un qui vous accuse, même Moïse, en qui vous avez mis votre espoir.
Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one accusing you, in whom you have hoped.
46 En effet, si vous croyiez Moïse, vous me croiriez, car il a écrit sur moi.
For if you were believing Moses, you were believing me; for he wrote concerning me.
47 Mais si vous ne croyez pas ses écrits, comment croirez-vous mes paroles? »
For if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?
