1 Le troisième jour, il y eut des noces à Cana de Galilée. La mère de Jésus était là.
And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Jésus fut aussi invité, avec ses disciples, aux noces.
And Jesus also was invited, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 Lorsque le vin vint à manquer, la mère de Jésus lui dit: « Ils n'ont pas de vin. »
And the wine failing, the mother of Jesus saith to him: They have no wine.
4 Jésus lui dit: « Femme, qu'est-ce que cela a à voir avec toi et moi? Mon heure n'est pas encore venue. »
And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is that to me and to thee? my hour is not yet come.
5 Sa mère dit aux serviteurs: « Tout ce qu'il vous dira, faites-le. »
His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.
6 Or, il y avait là six vases d'eau en pierre, placés selon la méthode de purification des Juifs, et contenant chacun deux ou trois métrées.
Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three measures apiece.
7 Jésus leur dit: « Remplissez d'eau les vases d'eau. » Ils les remplirent donc jusqu' au bord.
Jesus saith to them: Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 Il leur dit: « Puisez maintenant un peu d'eau, et portez-la au maître de la fête. » Ils en prirent donc.
And Jesus saith to them: Draw out now, and carry to the chief steward of the feast. And they carried it.
9 Lorsque le maître du repas eut goûté l'eau devenue vin et qu'il ne sut pas d'où il venait (mais les serviteurs qui avaient puisé l'eau le savaient), le maître du repas appela l'époux
And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters knew who had drawn the water; the chief steward calleth the bridegroom,
10 et lui dit: « Que chacun serve d'abord le bon vin, puis, lorsque les convives auront bu, le moins bon. Toi, tu as gardé le bon vin jusqu'à maintenant! »
And saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine, and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 Ce commencement de ses miracles, Jésus l'accomplit à Cana de Galilée, et il révéla sa gloire; et ses disciples crurent en lui.
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee; and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
12 Après cela, il descendit à Capharnaüm, lui, sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples, et ils y restèrent quelques jours.
After this he went down to Capharnaum, he and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they remained there not many days.
13 La Pâque des Juifs était proche, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
And the pasch of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 Il trouva dans le temple ceux qui vendaient des bœufs, des brebis et des colombes, et les changeurs de monnaie assis.
And he found in the temple them that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting.
15 Il fit un fouet de cordes et les chassa tous du temple, tant les brebis que les bœufs; il jeta la monnaie des changeurs et renversa leurs tables.
And when he had made, as it were, a scourge of little cords, he drove them all out of the temple, the sheep also and the oxen, and the money of the changers he poured out, and the tables he overthrew.
16 À ceux qui vendaient les colombes, il dit: « Enlevez ces choses d'ici! Ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une place de marché! »
And to them that sold doves he said: Take these things hence, and make not the house of my Father a house of traffic.
17 Ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il était écrit: « Le zèle pour votre maison me dévorera. »
And his disciples remembered, that it was written: The zeal of thy house hath eaten me up.
18 Les Juifs lui répondirent donc: « Quel signe nous montres-tu, puisque tu fais ces choses? »
The Jews, therefore, answered, and said to him: What sign dost thou shew unto us, seeing thou dost these things?
19 Jésus leur répondit: « Détruisez ce temple, et en trois jours je le relèverai. »
Jesus answered, and said to them: Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Les Juifs dirent donc: « Il a fallu quarante-six ans pour construire ce temple! Le relèveras-tu en trois jours? »
The Jews then said: Six and forty years was this temple in building; and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
21 Mais lui, il parlait du temple de son corps.
But he spoke of the temple of his body.
22 Quand donc il fut ressuscité des morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il avait dit cela, et ils crurent à l'Écriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite.
When therefore he was risen again from the dead, his disciples remembered, that he had said this, and they believed the scripture, and the word that Jesus had said.
23 Or, lorsqu'il était à Jérusalem, à la Pâque, pendant la fête, beaucoup crurent en son nom, observant les miracles qu'il faisait.
Now when he was at Jerusalem, at the pasch, upon the festival day, many believed in his name, seeing his signs which he did.
24 Mais Jésus ne se confiait pas à eux, parce qu'il connaissait tout le monde,
But Jesus did not trust himself unto them, for that he knew all men,
25 et qu'il n'avait pas besoin que quelqu'un rendît témoignage au sujet de l'homme, car il savait lui-même ce qui était dans l'homme.
And because he needed not that any should give testimony of man: for he knew what was in man.
