1 « Ne laisse pas ton cœur se troubler. Croyez en Dieu. Croyez aussi en moi.
Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.
2 Dans la maison de mon Père, il y a plusieurs maisons. S'il n'en était pas ainsi, je vous l'aurais dit. Je vais vous préparer une place.
In my Father's house there are many mansions; if not, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
3 Si je m'en vais et que je vous prépare une place, je reviendrai et je vous recevrai chez moi, afin que là où je suis, vous y soyez aussi.
And as I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, ye may also be.
4 Vous savez où je vais, et vous connaissez le chemin. »
And ye know where I am going, and ye know the way.
5 Thomas lui dit: « Seigneur, nous ne savons pas où tu vas. Comment pouvons-nous connaître le chemin? »
Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither thou art going, and how can we know the way?
6 Jésus lui dit: « Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie. Personne ne vient au Père, si ce n'est par moi.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
7 Si vous m'aviez connu, vous auriez aussi connu mon Père. Désormais, vous le connaissez et vous l'avez vu. »
If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye do know Him, and may be said to have seen Him.
8 Philippe lui dit: « Seigneur, montre-nous le Père, et cela nous suffira. »
Philip saith unto Him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jésus lui dit: « Il y a si longtemps que je suis avec toi, et tu ne me connais pas, Philippe? Celui qui m'a vu a vu le Père. Comment dis-tu: « Montre-nous le Père »?
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long with you, and dost thou not know me? Philip, he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father: and how then dost thou say, Shew us the Father?
10 Ne crois-tu pas que je suis dans le Père, et que le Père est en moi? Les paroles que je vous dis, je ne les dis pas de moi-même; mais le Père qui vit en moi fait ses œuvres.
Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? as to the words which I speak to you, I speak them not of my self; and the Father who abideth in me, doth the works.
11 Croyez-moi que je suis dans le Père, et que le Père est en moi; ou bien croyez-moi à cause des œuvres mêmes.
Believe me therefore that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: at lest, believe me for the very works.
12 Je vous le dis en vérité, celui qui croit en moi fera aussi les œuvres que je fais, et il en fera de plus grandes, parce que je vais vers mon Père.
Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I perform he also shall perform, and greater than these shall he do: because I am going to the Father.
13 Tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le Fils.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, I will do it: that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 Si vous demandez quelque chose en mon nom, je le ferai.
If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 Si vous m'aimez, gardez mes commandements.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father,
16 Je prierai le Père, et il vous donnera un autre conseiller, afin qu'il demeure avec vous pour toujours: (aiōn g165)
and He will give you another comforter to abide with you for ever: (aiōn g165)
17 l'Esprit de vérité, que le monde ne peut recevoir, parce qu'il ne le voit pas et ne le connaît pas. Vous, vous le connaissez, car il habite avec vous et il sera en vous.
even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you.
18 Je ne vous laisserai pas orphelins. Je viendrai à vous.
I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you.
19 Encore un peu de temps, et le monde ne me verra plus; mais vous, vous me verrez. Parce que je vis, vous vivrez aussi.
Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also.
20 En ce jour-là, vous saurez que je suis en mon Père, que vous êtes en moi et que je suis en vous.
Then ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 Celui qui a mes commandements et qui les garde, celui-là est celui qui m'aime. Celui qui m'aime sera aimé de mon Père, et je l'aimerai, et je me révélerai à lui. »
He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him.
22 Judas (et non Iscariote) lui dit: « Seigneur, qu'est-il arrivé pour que tu te révèles à nous, et non au monde? »
Judas (not the Iscariot) saith unto Him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self to us, and not to the world?
23 Jésus lui répondit: « Si un homme m'aime, il gardera ma parole. Mon Père l'aimera, et nous viendrons à lui, et nous ferons notre demeure chez lui.
Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him.
24 Celui qui ne m'aime pas ne garde pas mes paroles. La parole que vous entendez n'est pas la mienne, mais celle du Père qui m'a envoyé.
He that doth not love me, doth not observe my words: and yet the word that ye hear, is not mine, but the Father's who hath sent me.
25 « Je vous ai dit ces choses pendant que je vivais encore avec vous.
These things have I spoken unto you, while I have been with you.
26 Mais le conseiller, l'Esprit Saint, que le Père enverra en mon nom, vous enseignera toutes choses et vous rappellera tout ce que je vous ai dit.
But the comforter, that is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said unto you.
27 Je vous laisse la paix. C'est ma paix que je vous donne; ce n'est pas celle que donne le monde que je vous donne. Que votre cœur ne soit pas troublé et qu'il ne s'effraie pas.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Vous avez entendu comment je vous ai dit: « Je m'en vais, et je reviendrai vers vous ». Si vous m'aimiez, vous vous réjouiriez de ce que j'ai dit: « Je vais vers mon Père », car le Père est plus grand que moi.
Ye have heard, how I said unto you, "I am going away, and I shall come again to you." If ye loved me, ye would rejoice that I said, I am going to the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 Or, je vous l'ai dit avant que cela n'arrive, afin que, quand cela arrivera, vous croyiez.
And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it cometh to pass ye may believe.
30 Je ne parlerai plus beaucoup avec vous, car le prince du monde vient, et il n'a rien en moi.
I shall not have much more conversation with you: for the prince of this world is coming; not that he hath any thing in me,
31 Mais afin que le monde sache que j'aime le Père, et que je fais ce que le Père m'a commandé. Levez-vous, partons d'ici.
but that the world may know that I love the Father, and that I do as the Father hath commanded me. Arise, let us go hence.
