Job 5
1 « Appelle maintenant; y a-t-il quelqu'un qui te réponde? Vers lequel des saints vous tournerez-vous?
Call, I pray thee! Is there any that answereth thee? and to which of the holy ones wilt thou turn?
2 Car la rancune tue l'homme insensé, et la jalousie tue les simples.
For vexation killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the simple.
3 J'ai vu l'insensé prendre racine, mais j'ai soudainement maudit son habitation.
I myself saw the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 Ses enfants sont loin de la sécurité. Ils sont écrasés dans la porte. Il n'y en a pas non plus pour les délivrer,
His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, and there is no deliverer:
5 dont la récolte est dévorée par les affamés, et le sortir même des épines. Le piège s'ouvre pour leur substance.
Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh even out of the thorns; and the snare gapeth for his substance.
6 Car l'affliction ne sort pas de la poussière, Les problèmes ne sortent pas non plus du sol;
For evil cometh not forth from the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
7 mais l'homme est né pour les problèmes, alors que les étincelles volent vers le haut.
For man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upwards.
8 « Quant à moi, je chercherais Dieu. Je confierais ma cause à Dieu,
But as for me I will seek unto God, and unto God commit my cause;
9 qui fait de grandes choses qui ne peuvent pas être sondées, des choses merveilleuses sans nombre;
Who doeth great things and unsearchable, marvellous things without number;
10 qui donne la pluie sur la terre, et envoie des eaux sur les champs;
Who giveth rain on the face of the earth, and sendeth waters on the face of the fields;
11 afin qu'il élève en haut ceux qui sont bas, ceux qui pleurent sont élevés en sécurité.
Setting up on high those that are low; and mourners are exalted to prosperity.
12 Il fait échouer les plans des rusés, de sorte que leurs mains ne peuvent pas accomplir leur entreprise.
He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, and their hands carry not out the enterprise.
13 Il prend les sages dans leur propre ruse; le conseil des rusés est porté à bout de bras.
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong:
14 Ils rencontrent les ténèbres pendant le jour, et tâtonnent à midi comme dans la nuit.
They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at midday as in the night.
15 Mais il sauve de l'épée de leur bouche, même le nécessiteux de la main des puissants.
And he saveth the needy from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16 Le pauvre a donc de l'espoir, et l'injustice lui fait fermer la bouche.
So the poor hath what he hopeth for, and unrighteousness stoppeth her mouth.
17 « Voici, heureux l'homme que Dieu corrige. Ne méprisez donc pas le châtiment du Tout-Puissant.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty.
18 Car il blesse et panse. Il blesse et ses mains réparent.
For he maketh sore, and bindeth up; he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19 Il te délivrera dans six épreuves; Oui, en sept, aucun mal ne vous touchera.
He will deliver thee in six troubles, and in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20 Dans la famine, il te rachètera de la mort; dans la guerre, de la puissance de l'épée.
In famine he will redeem thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword.
21 Tu seras à l'abri du fléau de la langue, vous n'aurez pas non plus peur de la destruction quand elle viendra.
Thou shalt be hidden from the scourge of the tongue; and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22 Vous rirez de la destruction et de la famine, vous n'aurez pas non plus peur des animaux de la terre.
At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, and of the beasts of the earth thou shalt not be afraid.
23 Car vous serez alliés aux pierres des champs. Les animaux des champs seront en paix avec vous.
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24 Tu sauras que ta tente est en paix. Vous visiterez votre pli, et ne manquerez rien.
And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou wilt survey thy fold, and miss nothing.
25 Tu sauras aussi que ta descendance sera grande, ta progéniture comme l'herbe de la terre.
And thou shalt know that thy seed is numerous, and thine offspring as the herb of the earth.
26 Tu viendras au tombeau dans un âge avancé, comme un choc de grain vient en sa saison.
Thou shalt come to the grave in a ripe age, as a shock of corn is brought in in its season.
27 Voici, nous avons fait des recherches. Il en est ainsi. Entendez-le, et sachez que c'est pour votre bien. »
Behold this, we have searched it out, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thyself.
