Job 19
1 Alors Job répondit,
Then Job answered and said,
2 « Jusqu'à quand me tourmenterez-vous, et m'écraser avec des mots?
How long will ye vex my soul and break me in pieces with words?
3 Vous m'avez fait dix fois des reproches. Vous n'avez pas honte de m'attaquer.
These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye deal hardly with me.
4 S'il est vrai que j'ai fait une erreur, mon erreur reste avec moi-même.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 Si vous vous glorifiez contre moi, et plaidez contre moi mon opprobre,
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6 savent maintenant que Dieu m'a subverti, et m'a entouré de son filet.
Know now that God hath subverted me [in my cause], and hath compassed me with his net.
7 « Voici, je crie au mal, mais on ne m'écoute pas. Je crie à l'aide, mais il n'y a pas de justice.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry for help, but there is no judgment.
8 Il a muré mon chemin pour que je ne puisse pas passer, et a mis les ténèbres sur mes chemins.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and hath set darkness in my paths.
9 Il m'a dépouillé de ma gloire, et a enlevé la couronne de ma tête.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 Il m'a brisé de toutes parts, et je suis parti. Il a arraché mon espoir comme un arbre.
He hath broken me down on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he plucked up like a tree.
11 Il a aussi enflammé sa colère contre moi. Il me compte parmi ses adversaires.
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as [one of] his adversaries.
12 Ses troupes montent ensemble, construire une rampe de siège contre moi, et camper autour de ma tente.
His troops come on together, and cast up their way against me, and encamp round about my tent.
13 « Il a éloigné mes frères de moi. Mes connaissances sont complètement éloignées de moi.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are wholly estranged from me.
14 Mes proches sont partis. Mes amis familiers m'ont oublié.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 Ceux qui habitent dans ma maison et mes servantes me considèrent comme un étranger. Je suis un étranger à leurs yeux.
They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16 J'appelle mon serviteur, et il ne me répond pas. Je le supplie avec ma bouche.
I call unto my servant, and he giveth me no answer, [though] I entreat him with my mouth.
17 Mon souffle est offensant pour ma femme. Je suis détestable pour les enfants de ma propre mère.
My breath is strange to my wife, and my supplication to the children of my [mother’s] womb.
18 Même les jeunes enfants me méprisent. Si je me lève, ils parlent contre moi.
Even young children despise me; if I arise, they speak against me.
19 Tous mes amis familiers m'abhorrent. Ceux que j'aimais se sont retournés contre moi.
All my inward friends abhor me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 Mes os collent à ma peau et à ma chair. Je m'en suis sorti par la peau des dents.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 « Ayez pitié de moi. Ayez pitié de moi, vous mes amis, car la main de Dieu m'a touché.
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22 Pourquoi me persécutez-vous comme Dieu, et ne sont pas satisfaits de ma chair?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23 « Oh, si mes paroles étaient maintenant écrites! Oh, qu'ils soient inscrits dans un livre!
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were inscribed in a book!
24 Qu'avec une plume de fer et du plomb ils ont été gravés dans la roche pour toujours!
That with an iron pen and lead they were graven in the rock for ever!
25 Quant à moi, je sais que mon Rédempteur est vivant. A la fin, il se tiendra sur la terre.
But I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand up at the last upon the earth:
26 Après que ma peau soit détruite, alors je verrai Dieu dans ma chair,
And after my skin hath been thus destroyed, yet from my flesh shall I see God:
27 que je verrai, moi aussi, de mon côté. Mes yeux verront, et pas comme un étranger. « Mon cœur se consume en moi.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another. My reins are consumed within me.
28 Si vous dites: « Comme nous le persécuterons! parce que la racine du problème se trouve en moi,
If ye say, How we will persecute him! seeing that the root of the matter is found in me;
29 craignez l'épée, car la colère amène les châtiments de l'épée, afin que vous sachiez qu'il y a un jugement. »
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath [bringeth] the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
