Jérémie 50
1 La parole que Yahvé a prononcée sur Babylone, sur le pays des Chaldéens, par Jérémie, le prophète.
The word that the Lord spake, concerning Babel, and cocerning the land of the Caldeans by the ministerie of Ieremiah the Prophet.
2 « Déclarez parmi les nations et publiez, et établir une norme; publier, et ne pas dissimuler; disent: « Babylone a été prise, Bel est déçu, Merodach est consterné! Ses images sont déçues. Ses idoles sont consternées.
Declare among the nations, and publish it, and set vp a standart, proclaime it and conceale it not: say, Babel is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken downe: her idols are confounded, and their images are burst in pieces.
3 Car une nation monte du nord contre elle, qui rendra sa terre désolée, et personne n'y habitera. Ils ont fui. Ils sont partis, l'homme et l'animal.
For out of the North there commeth vp a nation against her, which shall make her lande waste, and none shall dwel therein: they shall flee, and depart, both man and beast.
4 « En ces jours-là, et en ce temps-là, » dit Yahvé, « les enfants d'Israël viendront, eux et les enfants de Juda ensemble; ils poursuivront leur chemin en pleurant, et chercheront Yahvé leur Dieu.
In those daies, and at that time, sayeth the Lord, the children of Israel shall come, they, and the children of Iudah together, going, and weeping shall they goe, and seeke the Lord their God.
5 Ils s'informeront sur Sion, le visage tourné vers elle, en disant: « Venez, joignez-vous à Yahvé par une alliance éternelle ». qui ne sera pas oublié.
They shall aske the way to Zion, with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let vs cleaue to the Lord in a perpetuall couenant that shall not be forgotten.
6 Mon peuple est une brebis égarée. Leurs bergers les ont fait s'égarer. Ils les ont repoussés sur les montagnes. Ils sont passés de montagne en colline. Ils ont oublié leur lieu de repos.
My people hath beene as lost sheepe: their shepheards haue caused them to goe astray, and haue turned them away to the mountaines: they haue gone from mountaine to hil, and forgotten their resting place.
7 Tous ceux qui les ont trouvés les ont dévorés. Leurs adversaires ont dit: « Nous ne sommes pas coupables, parce qu'ils ont péché contre Yahvé, la demeure de la justice, Yahvé, l'espoir de leurs pères.
Al that found them, haue deuoured them, and their enemies saide, We offende not, because they haue sinned against the Lord, the habitation of iustice, euen the Lord the hope of their fathers.
8 « Fuyez du milieu de Babylone! Sortez du pays des Chaldéens, et être comme les boucs devant les troupeaux.
Flee from the middes of Babel, and depart out of the lande of the Caldeans, and be ye as the hee goates before the flocke.
9 Car voici que je vais susciter et fais monter contre Babylone une troupe de grandes nations du pays du nord; et ils se rangent en bataille contre elle. Elle sera prise à partir de là. Leurs flèches seront comme celles d'un homme puissant et expert. Aucun d'entre eux ne reviendra en vain.
For loe, I will raise, and cause to come vp against Babel a multitude of mightie natios from the North countrey, and they shall set themselues in aray against her, whereby shee shall be taken: their arrowes shall be as of a strong man, which is expert, for none shall returne in vaine.
10 La Chaldée sera une proie. Tous ceux qui s'en prennent à elle seront satisfaits », dit Yahvé.
And Caldea shalbe a spoyle: all that spoyle her, shalbe satisfied, sayth the Lord.
11 « Parce que vous êtes heureux, parce que vous vous réjouissez, O vous qui pillez mon héritage, car tu es dévergondée comme une génisse qui foule le grain, et hennir comme des chevaux forts,
Because yee were glad and reioyced in destroying mine heritage, and because ye are growen fatte, as the calues in the grasse, and neied like strong horses,
12 votre mère sera totalement déçue. Celle qui t'a porté sera confondue. Voici qu'elle sera la plus petite des nations, un désert, une terre aride, et un désert.
Therefore your mother shall bee sore confounded, and she that bare you, shall be ashamed: beholde, the vttermost of the nations shalbe a desert, a drie land, and a wildernes.
13 A cause de la colère de Yahvé, elle ne sera pas habitée, mais elle sera totalement désolée. Tous ceux qui passeront par Babylone seront étonnés, et siffler sur tous ses fléaux.
Because of the wrath of the Lord it shall not be inhabited, but shall be wholy desolate: euery one that goeth by Babel, shall be astonished, and hisse at all her plagues.
14 Mettez-vous en ordre de bataille contre Babylone tout autour, vous tous qui courbez l'arc; lui tirer dessus. N'épargnez aucune flèche, car elle a péché contre Yahvé.
Put your selues in aray against Babel rounde about: all ye that bende the bowe, shoote at her, spare no arrowes: for shee hath sinned against the Lord.
15 Criez contre elle tout autour. Elle s'est soumise. Ses remparts sont tombés. Ses murs ont été abattus, car c'est la vengeance de Yahvé. Se venger d'elle. Comme elle l'a fait, faites-lui.
Crie against her round about: she hath giuen her hand: her foundations are fallen, and her walles are destroyed: for it is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance vpon her: as she hath done, doe vnto her.
16 Coupez le semeur de Babylone, et celui qui manie la faucille au moment de la moisson. Par peur de l'épée oppressante, ils retourneront chacun à leur propre peuple, et ils fuiront chacun dans leur pays.
Destroy the sower from Babel, and him that handleth the sieth in the time of haruest: because of the sworde of the oppressor they shall turne euery one to his people, and they shall flee euery one to his owne land.
17 « Israël est une brebis traquée. Les lions l'ont chassé. D'abord, le roi d'Assyrie l'a dévoré, et enfin, Nebuchadnezzar, roi de Babylone, a brisé ses os. »
Israel is like scattered sheepe: the lions haue dispersed them: first the King of Asshur hath deuoured him, and last this Nebuchad-nezzar King, of Babel hath broken his bones.
18 C'est pourquoi Yahvé des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, dit: « Voici, je vais punir le roi de Babylone et son pays, comme j'ai puni le roi d'Assyrie.
Therefore thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Behold, I wil visit ye King of Babel, and his land, as I haue visited the King of Asshur.
19 Je ramènerai Israël dans son pâturage, et il se nourrira de Carmel et de Bashan. Son âme sera satisfaite sur les collines d'Ephraïm et en Galaad.
And I will bring Israel againe to his habitation: hee shall feede on Carmel and Bashan, and his soule shall be satisfied vpon the mount Ephraim and Gilead.
20 En ces jours-là, et en ce temps-là, dit Yahvé, « l'iniquité d'Israël sera recherchée, et il n'y en aura pas, aussi les péchés de Juda, et ils ne seront pas trouvés; car je pardonnerai à ceux que j'ai laissés comme restes.
In those daies, and at that time, sayeth the Lord, the iniquitie of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none: and the sinnes of Iudah, and they shall not be founde: for I will be mercifull vnto them, whome I reserue.
21 « Monte contre le pays de Merathaim, même contre elle, et contre les habitants de Pekod. Tuez et détruisez tout après eux, dit Yahvé, « et faites tout ce que je vous ai ordonné.
Goe vp against the lande of the rebelles, euen against it, and against the inhabitantes of Pekod: destroy, and lay it waste after them, saieth the Lord, and doe according to all that I haue commanded thee.
22 Un bruit de bataille retentit dans le pays, et de grande destruction.
A crie of battell is in the land, and of great destruction.
23 Comme le marteau de toute la terre est écarté et brisé! Comme Babylone est devenue une désolation parmi les nations!
Howe is the hammer of the whole world destroied, and broken! howe is Babel become desolate among the nations!
24 Je vous ai tendu un piège, et vous êtes aussi pris, Babylone, et vous n'étiez pas au courant. Vous êtes trouvé, et aussi pris, parce que vous avez combattu contre Yahvé.
I haue snared thee, and thou art taken, O Babel, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striuen against the Lord.
25 Yahvé a ouvert son arsenal, et a sorti les armes de son indignation; car le Seigneur, Yahvé des Armées, a une œuvre à accomplir dans le pays des Chaldéens.
The Lord hath opened his treasure, and hath brought foorth the weapons of his wrath: for this is the woorke of the Lord God of hostes in the lande of the Caldeans.
26 Venez contre elle depuis la frontière la plus éloignée. Ouvrez ses entrepôts. Jetez-la en tas. Détruisez-la complètement. Qu'il ne reste rien d'elle.
Come against her from the vtmost border: open her store houses: treade on her as on sheaues, and destroy her vtterly: let nothing of her be left.
27 Tuez tous ses taureaux. Laissez-les aller à l'abattoir. Malheur à eux! Car leur jour est venu, le moment de leur visite.
Destroy all her bullockes: let them goe downe to the slaughter. Wo vnto them, for their day is come, and the time of their visitation.
28 Écoutez ceux qui fuient et s'échappent du pays de Babylone, pour annoncer dans Sion la vengeance de Yahvé notre Dieu, la vengeance de son temple.
The voyce of them that flee, and escape out of the lande of Babel to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, and the vengeance of his Temple.
29 « Convoquez les archers contre Babylone, tous ceux qui tendent l'arc. Encampement contre elle tout autour. Que rien ne s'échappe. Remboursez-la en fonction de son travail. Selon tout ce qu'elle a fait, faites-lui; car elle s'est enflammée contre Yahvé, contre le Saint d'Israël.
Call vp the archers against Babel: al ye that bend the bow, besiege it rounde about: let none thereof escape: recompence her according to her worke, and according to all that she hath done, doe vnto her: for she hath bene proud against the Lord, euen against the holy one of Israel.
30 C'est pourquoi ses jeunes gens tomberont dans ses rues. Tous ses hommes de guerre seront réduits au silence en ce jour-là, dit Yahvé.
Therefore shall her yong men fall in the streetes, and al her men of warre shalbe destroied in that day, sayeth the Lord.
31 « Voici, j'en veux à toi, orgueilleux, dit le Seigneur, Yahvé des armées; « car ton jour est venu, le moment où je vous rendrai visite.
Beholde, I come vnto thee, O proude man, saith the Lord God of hostes: for thy day is come, euen the time that I will visite thee.
32 L'orgueilleux trébuche et tombe, et personne ne le relèvera. Je vais allumer un feu dans ses villes, et il dévorera tous ceux qui sont autour de lui. »
And the proude shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him vp: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall deuoure all round about him.
33 Yahvé des armées dit: « Les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda sont opprimés ensemble. Tous ceux qui les ont fait prisonniers les retiennent. Ils refusent de les laisser partir.
Thus saieth the Lord of hosts, The children of Israel, and the children of Iudah were oppressed together: and all that tooke them captiues, held them, and would not let them goe.
34 Leur rédempteur est fort. Yahvé des Armées est son nom. Il va plaider leur cause de manière approfondie, pour qu'il donne du repos à la terre, et de troubler les habitants de Babylone.
But their strong redeemer, whose Name is the Lord of hostes, he shall maintaine their cause, that he may giue rest to the lande, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babel.
35 « L'épée est sur les Chaldéens, dit Yahvé, « et sur les habitants de Babylone, sur ses princes, et sur ses sages.
A sworde is vpon the Caldeans, sayeth the Lord, and vpon the inhabitants of Babel, and vpon her princes, and vpon her wise men.
36 L'épée est sur les vantards, et ils deviendront des imbéciles. Une épée est sur ses hommes puissants, et ils seront consternés.
A sworde is vpon the soothsaiers, and they shall dote: a sword is vpon her strong men, and they shalbe afraide.
37 L'épée est sur leurs chevaux, sur leurs chars, et sur toutes les personnes mixtes qui se trouvent au milieu d'elle; et ils deviendront comme des femmes. Une épée est sur ses trésors, et ils seront volés.
A sworde is vpon their horses and vpon their charets, and vpon all the multitude that are in the middes of her, and they shall be like women: a sworde is vpon her treasures, and they shall be spoyled.
38 La sécheresse est sur ses eaux, et ils seront desséchés; car c'est un pays d'images gravées, et ils sont fous des idoles.
A drought is vpon her waters, and they shall be dried vp: for it is the lande of grauen images, and they dote vpon their idoles.
39 C'est pourquoi les animaux sauvages du désert avec les loups y habiteront. Les autruches y habiteront. Elle ne sera plus habitée à jamais, Elle ne sera pas non plus vécue de génération en génération.
Therefore the Ziims with the Iims shall dwel there, and the ostriches shall dwel therein: for it shall be no more inhabited, neither shall it be inhabited from generation vnto generation.
40 Comme lorsque Dieu a renversé Sodome, Gomorrhe et ses villes voisines, dit Yahvé, « pour que personne n'y habite, aucun fils de l'homme n'y vivra.
As God destroied Sodom and Gomorah with the places thereof neere about, sayeth the Lord: so shall no man dwell theere, neither shall the sonne of man remaine therein.
41 « Voici qu'un peuple vient du nord. Une grande nation et de nombreux rois seront suscités des extrémités de la terre.
Beholde, a people shall come from the North, and a great nation, and many Kings shall be raised vp from the coastes of the earth.
42 Ils prennent l'arc et la lance. Ils sont cruels, et n'ont aucune pitié. Leur voix gronde comme la mer. Ils montent à cheval, tout le monde dans le tableau, comme un homme à la bataille, contre toi, fille de Babylone.
They shall holde the bowe and the buckeler: they are cruell and vnmercifull: their voyce shall roare like the sea, and they shall ride vpon horses, and be put in aray like men to the battell against thee, O daughter of Babel.
43 Le roi de Babylone a entendu parler d'eux, et ses mains deviennent faibles. Anguish s'est emparé de lui, des douleurs comme celles d'une femme en travail.
The King of Babel hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: sorow came vpon him, euen sorowe as of a woman in trauaile.
44 Voici que l'ennemi surgit comme un lion. des fourrés du Jourdain contre la forte habitation; car je les ferai fuir soudainement. Celui qui sera choisi, Je le nommerai à ce poste, car qui est comme moi? Qui me fixera une heure? Qui est le berger qui peut se tenir devant moi? »
Beholde, hee shall come vp like a lyon from the swelling of Iorden vnto the strong habitation: for I will make Israel to rest, and I will make them to haste away from her: and who is a chosen man that I may appoynt against her? for who is like me, and who will appoynt me the time? and who is the shepheard that will stande before me?
45 C'est pourquoi, écoutez le conseil de Yahvé qu'il a pris contre Babylone; et ses objectifs qu'il s'est proposé contre le pays des Chaldéens: Ils vont sûrement les traîner loin, même les petits du troupeau. Il fera de leur habitation une désolation.
Therefore heare the counsell of the Lord that hee hath deuised against Babel, and his purpose that hee hath conceiued against the lande of the Caldeans: surely the least of the flocke shall drawe them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
46 La terre tremble au bruit de la prise de Babylone. Le cri est entendu parmi les nations.
At the noyse of the winning of Babel the earth is moued, and the crye is heard among the nations.
