Jérémie 25
1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie sur tout le peuple de Juda, la quatrième année de Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda (c'était la première année de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone),
The word that has been to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah—it [is] the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon—
2 parole que Jérémie, le prophète, adressa à tout le peuple de Juda et à tous les habitants de Jérusalem:
Which Jeremiah the prophet has spoken concerning all the people of Judah, even to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
3 Depuis la treizième année de Josias, fils d'Amon, roi de Juda, jusqu'à ce jour, c'est-à-dire depuis vingt-trois ans, la parole de Yahvé m'a été adressée, et je vous ai parlé, me levant de bonne heure et parlant; mais vous n'avez pas écouté.
“From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and to this day—this twenty-third year—the word of YHWH has been to me, and I speak to you, rising early and speaking, and you have not listened;
4 L'Éternel vous a envoyé tous ses serviteurs, les prophètes, en se levant de bonne heure et en les envoyant (mais vous n'avez pas écouté ni prêté l'oreille pour entendre),
and YHWH has sent all His servants to you, the prophets, rising early and sending, and you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear, saying,
5 en disant: « Que chacun revienne maintenant de sa mauvaise voie et de la méchanceté de ses actions, et qu'il habite dans le pays que l'Éternel a donné à vous et à vos pères, depuis toujours et à jamais.
Please turn back, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that YHWH has given to you and to your fathers from age to age,
6 N'allez pas après d'autres dieux pour les servir ou vous prosterner devant eux, et ne m'irritez pas par l'œuvre de vos mains; alors je ne vous ferai aucun mal. »
and you do not go after other gods to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do you provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;
7 « Mais vous ne m'avez pas écouté, dit l'Éternel, afin de m'irriter par l'ouvrage de vos mains, pour votre propre malheur. »
and you have not listened to Me,” a declaration of YHWH, “so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.
8 C'est pourquoi Yahvé des armées dit: « Parce que vous n'avez pas écouté mes paroles,
Therefore, thus said YHWH of Hosts: Because that you have not obeyed My words,
9 voici, j'enverrai prendre toutes les familles du nord, dit Yahvé, et j'enverrai mon serviteur Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, et je les ferai venir contre ce pays, contre ses habitants et contre toutes ces nations d'alentour. Je les détruirai par interdit, et j'en ferai un objet d'étonnement, de sifflement et de désolation perpétuelle.
behold, I am sending, and have taken all the families of the north—a declaration of YHWH—even to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and have brought them in against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations, and have devoted them, and appointed them for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for continuous ruins.
10 Je leur enlèverai la voix de la joie et la voix de l'allégresse, la voix du fiancé et la voix de la fiancée, le bruit des meules et la lumière de la lampe.
And I have destroyed from them the voice of rejoicing, and the voice of joy, voice of bridegroom and voice of bride, noise of millstones, and the light of lamps.
11 Tout ce pays sera une désolation et un objet d'épouvante, et ces nations serviront le roi de Babylone pendant soixante-dix ans.
And all this land has been for a desolation, for an astonishment, and these nations have served the king of Babylon seventy years.
12 « Quand soixante-dix ans seront accomplis, je punirai le roi de Babylone et cette nation, dit Yahvé, à cause de leur iniquité. Je réduirai le pays des Chaldéens en désolation pour toujours.
And it has come to pass, at the fullness of seventy years, I charge against the king of Babylon, and against that nation,” a declaration of YHWH, “their iniquity, and against the land of the Chaldeans, and have appointed it for continuous desolations.
13 Je ferai venir sur ce pays toutes les paroles que j'ai prononcées contre lui, tout ce qui est écrit dans ce livre, et que Jérémie a prophétisé contre toutes les nations.
And I have brought in on that land all My words that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this scroll, that Jeremiah has prophesied concerning all the nations.
14 Car beaucoup de nations et de grands rois en feront des esclaves, même d'eux. Je leur rendrai selon leurs actes et selon l'œuvre de leurs mains. »
For laid service on them—also them—have many nations and great kings, and I have given repayment to them according to their doing, and according to the work of their hands.”
15 Car Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, me dit: « Prends de ma main cette coupe du vin de la colère, et fais-la boire à toutes les nations vers lesquelles je t'envoie.
For thus said YHWH, God of Israel, to me: “Take the wine cup of this fury out of My hand, and you have caused all the nations to drink it to whom I am sending you;
16 Ils boiront, ils tituberont et seront fous, à cause de l'épée que j'enverrai au milieu d'eux. »
and they have drunk, and shaken themselves and shown themselves [to be] foolish, because of the sword that I am sending among them.”
17 Puis j'ai pris la coupe dans la main de Yahvé, et j'ai fait boire toutes les nations vers lesquelles Yahvé m'avait envoyé:
And I take the cup out of the hand of YHWH, and cause all the nations to drink to whom YHWH sent me:
18 Jérusalem et les villes de Juda, avec ses rois et ses chefs, pour en faire une désolation, un objet d'étonnement, de sifflement et de malédiction, comme il en existe aujourd'hui;
Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, And its kings, its heads, To give them to ruin, to astonishment, To hissing, and to reviling, as [at] this day;
19 Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, avec ses serviteurs, ses chefs, et tout son peuple;
Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, And his heads, and all his people,
20 tout le peuple mélangé, tous les rois du pays d'Uz, tous les rois des Philistins, Askalon, Gaza, Ékron, et le reste d'Asdod;
And all the mixed people, And all the kings of the land of Uz, And all the kings of the land of the Philistines, And Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, And the remnant of Ashdod,
21 Édom, Moab, et les enfants d'Ammon;
Edom, and Moab, and the sons of Ammon,
22 tous les rois de Tyr, tous les rois de Sidon, et les rois de l'île qui est au delà de la mer;
And all the kings of Tyre, And all the kings of Sidon, And the kings of the island that [is] beyond the sea,
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, et tous ceux qui ont les coins de leur barbe coupés;
Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, And all cutting the corners [of the beard],
24 tous les rois d'Arabie, tous les rois du peuple mélangé qui habite dans le désert;
And all the kings of Arabia, And all the kings of the mixed people, Who are dwelling in the wilderness,
25 tous les rois de Zimri, tous les rois d'Élam, tous les rois des Mèdes,
And all the kings of Zimri, And all the kings of Elam, And all the kings of Media,
26 tous les rois du nord, les uns avec les autres, de loin et de près, et tous les royaumes du monde, qui sont à la surface de la terre. Le roi de Sheshach boira après eux.
And all the kings of the north, The near and the far off to one another, And all the kingdoms of the earth, That [are] on the face of the ground, And King Sheshach drinks after them.
27 Tu leur diras: « L'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, dit: « Buvez et soyez ivres, vomissez, tombez et ne vous relevez plus, à cause de l'épée que j'enverrai au milieu de vous ».
“And you have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Drink, indeed drink abundantly, And vomit, and fall, and do not rise, Because of the sword that I am sending among you.
28 S'ils refusent de prendre la coupe dans ta main pour boire, tu leur diras: « L'Éternel des armées dit: « Vous boirez ».
And it has come to pass, When they refuse to receive the cup out of your hand to drink, That you have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts: You certainly drink.
29 Car voici que je commence à faire du mal à la ville qui s'appelle de mon nom. Vous ne resterez pas impunis, car j'appellerai l'épée sur tous les habitants de la terre, dit Yahvé des armées ».
For behold, in the city over which My Name is called, I am beginning to bring ruin, And are you entirely acquitted? You are not acquitted, for I am proclaiming a sword, For all inhabitants of the land,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts.
30 « Prophétise donc contre eux toutes ces paroles, et dis-leur, "'Yahvé rugira du haut des cieux, et faire entendre sa voix depuis sa demeure sainte. Il rugira puissamment contre son pli. Il poussera un cri, comme ceux qui foulent le raisin, contre tous les habitants de la terre.
“And you, you prophesy all these words to them, and have said to them: YHWH roars from the high place, And gives forth His voice from His holy habitation, He surely roars for His habitation, A shout as those treading [the grapes], God answers all the inhabitants of the land,
31 Un bruit se fera entendre jusqu'à l'extrémité de la terre; car Yahvé a une controverse avec les nations. Il entrera en jugement avec toute chair. Quant aux méchants, il les livrera à l'épée, dit Yahvé. »
A rumbling has come to the end of the earth, For YHWH has a controversy with nations, He has executed judgment for all flesh, He has given the wicked to the sword,” A declaration of YHWH.
32 Yahvé des Armées dit, « Voici que le mal se répandra de nation en nation, et une grande tempête s'élèvera des extrémités de la terre. »
Thus said YHWH of Hosts: “Behold, evil is going out from nation to nation, And a great whirlwind is stirred up from the sides of the earth.
33 En ce jour-là, les morts de Yahvé seront d'un bout à l'autre de la terre. On ne les pleurera pas. Ils ne seront ni recueillis ni enterrés. Ils seront du fumier à la surface de la terre.
And the pierced of YHWH have been in that day, From the end of the earth even to the end of the earth, They are not lamented, nor gathered, nor buried, For they are dung on the face of the ground.
34 Gémissez, bergers, et criez. Va te vautrer dans la poussière, toi le chef du troupeau; car les jours de vos massacres et de vos dispersions sont arrivés, et vous tomberez comme une fine poterie.
Howl, you shepherds, and cry, And roll yourselves, you majestic of the flock, For your days have been full For slaughtering, and [for] your scatterings, And you have fallen as a desirable vessel.
35 Les bergers n'auront aucun moyen de fuir. Le chef du troupeau n'aura pas d'échappatoire.
And refuge has perished from the shepherds, And escape from the majestic of the flock.
36 Une voix du cri des bergers, et les lamentations du chef du troupeau, car Yahvé détruit leurs pâturages.
A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a howling of the majestic of the flock, For YHWH is spoiling their pasture.
37 Les plis paisibles sont réduits au silence à cause de l'ardente colère de Yahvé.
And the peaceable habitations have been cut down, Because of the fierceness of the anger of YHWH.
38 Il a quitté sa cachette, comme le lion; car leur pays est devenu un objet d'étonnement à cause de la férocité de l'oppression, et à cause de sa colère féroce.
He has forsaken His covert as a young lion, Surely their land has become a desolation, Because of the oppressing fierceness, And because of the fierceness of His anger!”
