Jérémie 22
1 Yahvé dit: « Descends à la maison du roi de Juda, et là, tu diras cette parole:
Thus said Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
2 Écoute la parole de Yahvé, roi de Juda, qui es assis sur le trône de David, toi, tes serviteurs, et ton peuple qui entre par ces portes.
and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, who sits upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people who enter in by these gates.
3 Yahvé dit: « Fais régner la justice et l'équité, et délivre de la main de l'oppresseur celui qui est dépouillé. Ne faites pas de mal. Ne faites pas violence à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve. Ne répandez pas de sang innocent dans ce lieu.
Thus says Jehovah: Execute ye justice and righteousness. And deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. And do no wrong. Do no violence to the sojourner, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
4 Car si vous faites cela, des rois assis sur le trône de David entreront par les portes de cette maison, montés sur des chars et sur des chevaux, eux, leurs serviteurs et leur peuple.
For if ye do this thing indeed, then there shall enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
5 Mais si vous n'écoutez pas ces paroles, je jure par moi-même, dit Yahvé, que cette maison deviendra une désolation. »'"
But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says Jehovah, that this house shall become a desolation.
6 Car Yahvé dit à propos de la maison du roi de Juda: « Tu es Gilead pour moi, le chef du Liban. Mais je ferai de toi un désert, des villes qui ne sont pas habitées.
For thus says Jehovah concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou are Gilead to me, and the head of Lebanon, yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
7 Je préparerai des destructeurs contre toi, tout le monde avec ses armes, et ils couperont vos cèdres de choix, et les jeter dans le feu.
And I will prepare destroyers against thee, each one with his weapons, and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
8 « Des nations nombreuses passeront près de cette ville, et chacune demandera à son voisin: « Pourquoi Yahvé a-t-il fait cela à cette grande ville? »
And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say each man to his neighbor, Why has Jehovah done thus to this great city?
9 Et l'on répondra: « Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'alliance de Yahvé leur Dieu, qu'ils ont adoré d'autres dieux et qu'ils les ont servis. »"
Then they shall answer, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshiped other gods, and served them.
10 Ne pleurez pas les morts. Ne le déplore pas; mais pleure amèrement sur celui qui s'en va, car il ne reviendra plus, et ne pas voir son pays natal.
Weep ye not for him who is dead, nor bemoan him. But weep greatly for him who goes away, for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
11 Car Yahvé dit à propos de Shallum, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, qui a régné à la place de Josias, son père, et qui est sorti de ce lieu: « Il n'y retournera plus.
For thus says Jehovah concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went forth out of this place: He shall not return there any more.
12 Mais il mourra dans le lieu où on l'a conduit en captivité. Il ne verra plus ce pays. »
But in the place where they have led him captive, there he shall die, and he shall see this land no more.
13 « Malheur à celui qui bâtit sa maison par l'injustice, et ses chambres par l'injustice; qui utilise le service de son voisin sans rémunération, et ne lui donne pas son embauche;
Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice, who uses his neighbor's service without wages, and gives him not his hire,
14 qui dit: « Je me construirai une grande maison et des chambres spacieuses ». et découpe des fenêtres pour lui-même, avec un plafond en cèdre, et peint en rouge.
who says, I will build me a wide house and spacious chambers, and cuts out windows for himself, and it is overlaid with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
15 « Devrais-tu régner parce que tu t'efforces d'exceller dans le cèdre? Ton père n'a pas mangé et bu, et faire la justice et la droiture? Alors tout allait bien pour lui.
Shall thou reign, because thou strive to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.
16 Il a jugé la cause des pauvres et des nécessiteux; alors c'était bien. Ce n'était pas pour me connaître? » dit Yahvé.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy man, then it was well. Was not this to know me? says Jehovah.
17 Mais tes yeux et ton cœur ne sont que pour ta convoitise, pour avoir versé du sang innocent, pour l'oppression, et pour faire de la violence ».
But thine eyes and thy heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.
18 C'est pourquoi Yahvé dit au sujet de Jehoïakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda: « Ils ne se lamenteront pas pour lui, en disant: « Ah mon frère! » ou « Ah ma sœur! ». Ils ne se lamenteront pas pour lui, en disant « Ah le seigneur » ou « Ah sa gloire ».
Therefore thus says Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah. They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! They shall not lament for him, saying Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!
19 Il sera enterré avec la sépulture d'un âne, tirés et chassés au-delà des portes de Jérusalem. »
He shall be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
20 « Monte au Liban, et crie. Élevez votre voix en Bashan, et crie depuis Abarim; car tous tes amants ont été détruits.
Go up to Lebanon, and cry. And lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim. For all thy lovers are destroyed.
21 Je t'ai parlé dans ta prospérité, mais tu as dit: « Je n'écouterai pas ». C'est ce que tu fais depuis ta jeunesse, que tu n'as pas obéi à ma voix.
I spoke to thee in thy prosperity, but thou said, I will not hear. This has been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyed not my voice.
22 Le vent nourrira tous vos bergers, et tes amants iront en captivité. Sûrement alors vous aurez honte et confondues pour toutes vos méchancetés.
The wind shall feed all thy shepherds, and thy loved ones shall go into captivity. Surely then thou shall be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
23 Habitant du Liban, qui fait ton nid dans les cèdres, combien tu seras à plaindre lorsque les douleurs t'atteindront, la douleur comme celle d'une femme en travail!
O inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes thy nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied thou shall be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
24 « Je suis vivant, dit Yahvé, quand Conias, fils de Jojakim, roi de Juda, serait le sceau de ma main droite, je t'en arracherais quand même.
As I live, says Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet I would pluck thee from there,
25 Je te livrerais entre les mains de ceux qui en veulent à ta vie et entre les mains de ceux que tu crains, entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, et entre les mains des Chaldéens.
and I will give thee into the hand of those who seek thy life, and into the hand of those of whom thou are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 Je te chasserai avec ta mère qui t'a porté dans un autre pays, où tu n'es pas né, et là tu mourras.
And I will cast thee out, and thy mother who bore thee, into another country where ye were not born, and there ye shall die.
27 Mais dans le pays où leur âme aspire à retourner, là ils ne retourneront pas. »
But to the land to which their soul longs to return, there they shall not return.
28 Cet homme, Conia, est-il un vase brisé méprisé? Est-il un récipient dans lequel personne ne se complaît? Pourquoi sont-ils chassés, lui et sa progéniture, et jetés dans un pays qu'ils ne connaissent pas?
Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into the land which they know not?
29 O terre, terre, terre, écoutez la parole de Yahvé!
O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah.
30 Yahvé dit, « Enregistrez cet homme comme étant sans enfant, un homme qui ne prospérera pas dans ses jours; car l'homme ne prospérera plus de sa descendance, assis sur le trône de David et à régner sur Juda. »
Thus says Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, a man who shall not prosper in his days. For no more shall a man of his seed prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling in Judah.
