Jérémie 12
1 Tu es juste, Yahvé, quand je me dispute avec vous; Pourtant, je voudrais plaider une affaire avec vous. Pourquoi la voie des méchants prospère-t-elle? Pourquoi sont-ils tous à l'aise alors qu'ils sont très perfides?
Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
2 Vous les avez plantés. Oui, ils ont pris racine. Ils poussent. Oui, ils produisent des fruits. Vous êtes près de leur bouche, et loin de leur cœur.
You have planted them, yes, they have taken root: they grow, yes, they bring forth fruit: you are near in their mouth, and far from their reins.
3 Mais toi, Yahvé, tu me connais. Vous me voyez, et vous testez mon cœur à votre égard. Les faire sortir comme des moutons pour l'abattage, et les préparer pour le jour de l'abattage.
But you, O LORD, know me: you have seen me, and tried my heart toward you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
4 Combien de temps le pays sera-t-il en deuil? et les herbes de tout le pays se fanent? A cause de la méchanceté de ceux qui l'habitent, les animaux et les oiseaux sont consommés; parce qu'ils ont dit, « Il ne verra pas notre fin. »
How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
5 « Si tu as couru avec les valets de pied, et ils t'ont fatigué, alors comment pouvez-vous lutter contre les chevaux? Bien que dans un pays de paix vous soyez en sécurité, mais comment ferez-vous dans la fierté du Jourdain?
If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein you trusted, they wearied you, then how will you do in the swelling of Jordan?
6 Car même tes frères, et la maison de ton père, ils t'ont même trahi! Même eux ont crié à haute voix après toi! Ne les croyez pas, même s'ils vous disent de belles paroles.
For even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; yes, they have called a multitude after you: believe them not, though they speak fair words to you.
7 « J'ai abandonné ma maison. Je me suis débarrassé de mon héritage. J'ai livré la bien-aimée de mon âme aux mains de ses ennemis.
I have forsaken my house, I have left my heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
8 Mon héritage est devenu pour moi comme un lion dans la forêt. Elle a élevé sa voix contre moi. C'est pourquoi je l'ai haïe.
My heritage is to me as a lion in the forest; it cries out against me: therefore have I hated it.
9 Mon héritage est-il pour moi comme un oiseau de proie tacheté? Les oiseaux de proie sont contre elle tout autour? Va, rassemble tous les animaux des champs. Amenez-les pour les dévorer.
My heritage is to me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come you, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.
10 De nombreux bergers ont détruit ma vigne. Ils ont foulé aux pieds ma part. Ils ont fait de mon agréable portion un désert.
Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
11 Ils en ont fait une désolation. Elle me pleure, étant désolée. La terre entière est désolée, parce que tout le monde s'en fiche.
They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourns to me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man lays it to heart.
12 Des destructeurs sont venus sur tous les sommets dénudés du désert; car l'épée de Yahvé dévore depuis une extrémité du pays jusqu'à l'autre extrémité du pays. Aucune chair n'a la paix.
The spoilers are come on all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
13 Ils ont semé du blé, et ont récolté des épines. Ils se sont épuisés, et ne profitent de rien. Tu auras honte de tes fruits, à cause de l'ardente colère de Yahvé. »
They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
14 L'Éternel dit: « Au sujet de tous mes mauvais voisins, qui touchent à l'héritage que j'ai fait posséder à mon peuple d'Israël: voici, je les arracherai de leur pays, et j'arracherai la maison de Juda du milieu d'eux.
Thus says the LORD against all my evil neighbors, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
15 Il arrivera qu'après les avoir arrachés, je reviendrai et j'aurai pitié d'eux. Je les ramènerai, chacun dans son héritage, chacun dans son pays.
And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
16 S'ils apprennent à suivre la voie de mon peuple, à jurer par mon nom: « L'Éternel est vivant », comme ils ont appris à mon peuple à jurer par Baal, ils seront édifiés au milieu de mon peuple.
And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the middle of my people.
17 Mais s'ils n'écoutent pas, j'arracherai cette nation, je l'arracherai et je la détruirai, dit l'Éternel.
But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, says the LORD.
