Isaïe 5
1 Permettez-moi de chanter pour mon bien-aimé un chant de mon bien-aimé sur sa vigne. Mon bien-aimé avait un vignoble sur une colline très fructueuse.
I will sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard: My well-beloved had a vineyard upon a fruitful hill.
2 Il l'a déterrée, a rassemblé ses pierres, l'a planté de la vigne la plus précieuse, a construit une tour en son milieu, et j'y ai aussi découpé un pressoir à vin. Il a cherché à ce qu'elle produise des raisins, mais elle a donné des raisins sauvages.
And he dug it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine; and he built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a winepress therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes.
3 « Maintenant, habitants de Jérusalem et hommes de Juda, s'il te plaît, juge entre moi et ma vigne.
And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, between me and my vineyard.
4 Que pouvait-on faire de plus à ma vigne, que je n'ai fait en elle? Pourquoi, alors que j'attendais qu'il produise des raisins, a-t-il produit des raisins sauvages?
What was there yet to do to my vineyard that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? —
5 Maintenant, je vais vous dire ce que je vais faire à ma vigne. J'enlèverai sa haie, et elle sera dévorée. J'abattrai son mur, et il sera piétiné.
And now, let me tell you what I am about to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trodden under foot;
6 Je la réduirai en désert. Il ne sera ni taillé ni biné, mais il poussera des ronces et des épines. J'ordonnerai aussi aux nuages de ne pas faire pleuvoir sur elle. »
and I will make it a waste — it shall not be pruned nor cultivated, but there shall come up briars and thorns; and I will command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 Car la vigne de l'Éternel des armées, c'est la maison d'Israël, et les hommes de Juda sa plante agréable. Il a cherché la justice, mais voici l'oppression, pour la justice, mais voici un cri de détresse.
For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah the plant of his delight: and he looked for justice, and behold, blood-shedding; for righteousness, and behold, a cry.
8 Malheur à ceux qui joignent une maison à une autre, qui s'étendent de champ en champ, jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y ait plus de place, et on te fait habiter seul au milieu du pays!
Woe unto them that add house to house, that join field to field, until there is no more room, and that ye dwell yourselves alone in the midst of the land!
9 A mes oreilles, Yahvé des armées dit: « Certainement, beaucoup de maisons seront désolées, même grande et belle, inoccupée.
In mine ears Jehovah of hosts [hath said], Many houses shall assuredly become a desolation, great and excellent ones, without inhabitant.
10 Car dix arpents de vigne donneront un bath, et un homer de semence donnera un épha. »
Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield an ephah.
11 Malheur à ceux qui se lèvent tôt le matin, pour suivre des boissons fortes, qui restent tard dans la nuit, jusqu'à ce que le vin les enflamme!
Woe unto them that, rising early in the morning, run after strong drink; that linger till twilight, [till] wine inflameth them!
12 La harpe, la lyre, le tambourin et la flûte, avec le vin, sont à leurs fêtes; mais ils ne respectent pas l'œuvre de Yahvé, Ils n'ont pas non plus considéré l'opération de ses mains.
And harp and lyre, tambour and flute, and wine are in their banquets; but they regard not the work of Jehovah, nor do they see the operation of his hands.
13 C'est pourquoi mon peuple va en captivité par manque de connaissance. Leurs hommes honorables sont affamés, et leurs multitudes sont assoiffées.
Therefore my people are led away captive from lack of knowledge, and their nobility die of famine, and their multitude are parched with thirst.
14 C'est pourquoi le séjour des morts a élargi son désir, et a ouvert sa bouche sans mesure; et leur gloire, leur multitude, leur faste, et celui qui se réjouit parmi eux, y descendent. (Sheol h7585)
Therefore doth Sheol enlarge its desire, and open its mouth without measure; and her splendour shall descend [into it], and her multitude, and her tumult, and [all] that is joyful within her. (Sheol h7585)
15 Ainsi l'homme est abaissé, l'humanité est humiliée, et les yeux des arrogants sont humiliés;
And the mean man shall be bowed down, and the great man brought low, and the eyes of the lofty shall be brought low;
16 mais le Yahvé des armées est élevé dans la justice, et Dieu le Saint est sanctifié dans la justice.
and Jehovah of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and the holy God hallowed in righteousness.
17 Alors les agneaux paîtront comme dans leur pâturage, et les étrangers mangeront les ruines des riches.
And the lambs shall feed as on their pasture, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
18 Malheur à ceux qui tirent l'iniquité avec des cordes de mensonge, et la méchanceté comme avec une corde de charrette,
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as with cart-ropes!
19 qui disent: « Qu'il se hâte, qu'il hâte son œuvre, afin que nous la voyions; que le conseil du Saint d'Israël s'approche et vienne, pour que nous le sachions! »
who say, Let him hasten, let him speed his work, that we may see [it]; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20 Malheur à ceux qui appellent le mal bien, et le bien mal; qui a mis l'obscurité pour la lumière, et la lumière pour les ténèbres; qui ont mis de l'amer pour du sucré, et le doux pour l'amer!
Woe unto them who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Malheur à ceux qui sont sages à leurs propres yeux, et prudents à leurs propres yeux!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and intelligent in their own esteem!
22 Malheur à ceux qui ont la force de boire du vin, et des champions de la préparation de boissons fortes;
Woe unto them that are mighty for drinking wine, and men valiant to mix strong drink;
23 qui acquittent les coupables contre un pot-de-vin, mais refuser la justice pour les innocents!
who justify the wicked for a bribe, and turn away the righteousness of the righteous from them!
24 C'est pourquoi, comme la langue de feu dévore le chaume, et comme l'herbe sèche s'enfonce dans la flamme, et leur racine sera comme de la pourriture, et leur fleur s'envolera en poussière, parce qu'ils ont rejeté la loi de Yahvé des Armées, et ont méprisé la parole du Saint d'Israël.
Therefore as a tongue of fire devoureth the stubble, and dry grass sinketh down in the flame, their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; for they have rejected the law of Jehovah of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 C'est pourquoi la colère de Yahvé s'enflamme contre son peuple, il a étendu sa main contre eux et les a frappés. Les montagnes tremblent, et leurs cadavres sont comme des déchets au milieu des rues. Pour autant, sa colère ne s'éteint pas, mais sa main est toujours tendue.
Therefore is the anger of Jehovah kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand against them and hath smitten them; and the mountains trembled, and their carcases are become as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
26 Il élèvera une bannière pour les nations lointaines, et il les sifflera jusqu'au bout de la terre. Voici, ils viendront rapidement et promptement.
And he will lift up a banner to the nations afar off, and will hiss for one from the end of the earth; and behold, it will come rapidly [and] lightly.
27 Personne ne se lassera ni ne trébuchera parmi eux; personne ne sommeillera ni ne dormira, et la ceinture de leur taille ne sera pas détachée, ni la courroie de leurs sandales ne sera brisée,
None among them is weary, none stumbleth; they slumber not, nor sleep; none hath the girdle of his loins loosed, nor the thong of his sandals broken;
28 dont les flèches sont acérées, et tous leurs arcs pliés. Les sabots de leurs chevaux seront comme du silex, et leurs roues comme un tourbillon.
their arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs are reckoned as the flint, and their wheels as a whirlwind.
29 Leur rugissement sera comme celui d'une lionne. Ils rugiront comme de jeunes lions. Oui, ils rugiront, et saisissent leur proie et l'emportent, et il n'y aura personne pour le faire.
Their roaring is like a lioness, they roar as the young lions; yea, they growl, and snatch the prey, and carry it away safe, and there is none to deliver;
30 En ce jour-là, ils rugiront contre eux comme le grondement de la mer. Si l'on regarde la terre, voici l'obscurité et la détresse. La lumière est obscurcie dans ses nuages.
and they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. And if one look upon the earth, behold darkness [and] distress, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
