Isaïe 49
1 Écoutez-moi, îles. Écoutez, vous, peuples, de loin: Yahvé m'a appelé depuis le ventre de ma mère; de l'intérieur de ma mère, il a mentionné mon nom.
Listen, islands, to me; and listen, you peoples, from far: the LORD has called me from the womb; from the body of my mother has he made mention of my name:
2 Il a rendu ma bouche semblable à une épée tranchante. Il m'a caché dans l'ombre de sa main. Il m'a fait une tige polie. Il m'a gardé près de lui dans son carquois.
and he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand, he has hidden me; and he has made me a polished arrow, in his quiver has he kept me close:
3 Il m'a dit: « Tu es mon serviteur, Israël, en qui je serai glorifié. »
and he said to me, "You are my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified."
4 Mais j'ai dit: « C'est en vain que j'ai travaillé. J'ai dépensé mes forces en vain pour rien; mais c'est à Yahvé que revient la justice qui m'est due, et ma récompense auprès de mon Dieu. »
But I said, "I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD, and my reward with my God."
5 Or, Yahvé, celui qui m'a formé dès le ventre de ma mère pour être son serviteur, dit de lui ramener Jacob, et de rassembler Israël auprès de lui, car je suis honorable aux yeux de Yahvé, et mon Dieu est devenu ma force.
Now says the LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered to him; for I am honorable in the eyes of the LORD, and my God has become my strength.
6 En effet, il dit: « C'est une chose trop légère que tu sois mon serviteur pour relever les tribus de Jacob, et de restaurer les préservés d'Israël. Je te donnerai aussi comme lumière aux nations, afin que tu sois mon salut jusqu'au bout du monde. »
And he says, "Is it too insignificant a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the remnant of Israel? I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth."
7 Yahvé, le Rédempteur d'Israël, et son Saint, dit à celui que l'homme méprise, à celui que la nation abhorre, à un serviteur des chefs: « Les rois verront et se lèveront, les princes, et ils se prosterneront, à cause de Yahvé qui est fidèle, le Saint d'Israël, qui t'a choisi. »
Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the one who is despised, to those abhorred as a nation, the servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you."
8 Yahvé dit: « Je t'ai répondu au bon moment. Je vous ai aidé au jour du salut. Je te garderai et te donnerai comme alliance du peuple, pour relever le pays, pour leur faire hériter de l'héritage dévasté,
Thus says the LORD, "In an acceptable time I have answered you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you as a covenant to the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage:
9 en disant à ceux qui sont liés: « Sortez! »; à ceux qui sont dans les ténèbres: « Montrez-vous! « Ils se nourriront le long des chemins, et leur pâturage sera sur toutes les hauteurs sans arbres.
saying to those who are bound, 'Come out.'; to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' "They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.
10 Ils n'auront ni faim ni soif; ni la chaleur ni le soleil ne les frapperont, car celui qui a pitié d'eux les conduira. Il les guidera vers des sources d'eau.
They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water he will guide them.
11 Je ferai de toutes mes montagnes une route, et mes autoroutes seront exaltées.
I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
12 Voici, ils viennent de loin, et voici ceux du nord et de l'ouest, et ceux-ci du pays de Sinim. »
Look, these shall come from far; and look, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Syene."
13 Chantez, cieux, et soyez joyeux, terre! Laissez-vous aller à chanter, montagnes! Car Yahvé a réconforté son peuple, et aura de la compassion pour ses affligés.
Sing, heavens; and be joyful, earth; and break forth into singing, mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.
14 Mais Sion dit: « Yahvé m'a abandonné, et le Seigneur m'a oublié. »
But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me."
15 « Une femme peut-elle oublier son enfant qu'elle allaite, pour qu'elle n'ait pas de compassion pour le fils de ses entrailles? Oui, ils peuvent oublier, mais je ne vous oublierai pas!
"Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
16 Voici, je vous ai gravés sur les paumes de mes mains. Vos murs sont continuellement devant moi.
Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
17 Vos enfants se dépêchent. Vos destructeurs et ceux qui vous ont dévasté vous quitteront.
Your builders hurry; your destroyers and those who devastated you shall depart from you.
18 Lève les yeux tout autour, et regarde: tous ceux-là se rassemblent et viennent à toi. Je suis vivant, dit Yahvé, et tu t'en revêtiras comme d'une parure, et habille-toi avec, comme une mariée.
Lift up your eyes all around, and see: all these gather themselves together, and come to you. As I live," says the LORD, "you shall surely clothe yourself with them all as with an ornament, and dress yourself with them, like a bride.
19 « En effet, pour ce qui est de tes déchets et de tes lieux désolés, et votre terre qui a été détruite, Il est certain que maintenant cette terre sera trop petite pour les habitants, et ceux qui t'ont englouti seront loin.
"For, as for your waste and your desolate places, and your land that has been destroyed, surely now you shall be too small for the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up shall be far away.
20 Les enfants de ton deuil diront à tes oreilles, Cet endroit est trop petit pour moi. Donnez-moi un endroit où vivre.
The children of your bereavement shall yet say in your ears, The place is too small for me; give place to me that I may dwell.
21 Alors tu diras dans ton cœur: « Qui les a conçus pour moi, puisque je suis privé de mes enfants? et que je suis seul, exilé, et que j'erre de long en large? Qui les a évoqués? Voici, j'ai été laissé seul. Où étaient-ils? »
Then you will say in your heart, 'Who has conceived these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering back and forth? Who has brought up these? Look, I was left alone; these, where were they?'"
22 Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Voici que je lève ma main vers les nations, et je lèverai ma bannière vers les peuples. Ils porteront vos fils dans leur sein, et vos filles seront portées sur leurs épaules.
Thus says the LORD, "Look, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my banner to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.
23 Les rois seront vos pères nourriciers, et leurs reines vos mères nourricières. Ils se prosterneront devant toi, le visage tourné vers la terre, et lécher la poussière de vos pieds. Alors vous saurez que je suis Yahvé; et ceux qui m'attendent ne seront pas déçus. »
Kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: they shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed."
24 Le butin sera pris aux puissants, ou que les captifs légitimes soient délivrés?
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the captives of a tyrant be delivered?
25 Mais Yahvé dit: « Même les captifs des puissants seront emmenés, et le butin récupéré sur le féroce, car je me battrai avec celui qui se battra avec vous. et je sauverai vos enfants.
But thus says the LORD, "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the tyrant shall be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.
26 Je nourrirai de leur propre chair ceux qui vous oppriment; et ils s'enivreront de leur propre sang, comme d'un vin doux. Alors toute chair saura que moi, Yahvé, je suis votre Sauveur. et ton rédempteur, le Puissant de Jacob. »
I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunk with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."
