Isaïe 48
1 « Écoutez ceci, maison de Jacob, vous qui êtes appelés par le nom d'Israël, et sont sortis des eaux de Judée. Vous jurez par le nom de Yahvé, et faire mention du Dieu d'Israël, mais pas dans la vérité, ni dans la droiture-
Hear you this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.
2 car ils se disent citoyens de la ville sainte, et s'en remettre au Dieu d'Israël; Yahvé des Armées est son nom.
For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.
3 J'ai annoncé les choses anciennes dès les temps anciens. Oui, ils sont sortis de ma bouche, et je les ai révélés. Je les ai fait soudainement, et ils sont arrivés.
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
4 Car je savais que tu étais obstiné, et ton cou est un tendon de fer, et ton front bronze;
Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow brass;
5 C'est pourquoi je vous l'ai annoncé dès le début; avant que cela ne se produise, je vous l'ai montré; de peur que vous ne disiez: « C'est mon idole qui les a faites ». Mon image gravée et mon image fondue leur a commandé.
I have even from the beginning declared it to you; before it came to pass I showed it you: lest you should say, My idol has done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, has commanded them.
6 Vous l'avez entendu. Maintenant, voyez tout ça. Et vous, ne le déclarerez-vous pas? « Je vous ai montré des choses nouvelles depuis ce temps, même des choses cachées, que vous n'avez pas connues.
You have heard, see all this; and will not you declare it? I have showed you new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them.
7 Ils sont créés maintenant, et non pas d'autrefois. Avant aujourd'hui, tu ne les entendais pas, de peur que tu ne dises: « Voici, je les connaissais.
They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when you heard them not; lest you should say, Behold, I knew them.
8 Oui, vous n'avez pas entendu. Oui, vous ne saviez pas. Oui, depuis longtemps, ton oreille n'a pas été ouverte, car je savais que tu étais très déloyal, et tu as été appelé transgresseur dès le ventre de ta mère.
Yes, you heard not; yes, you knew not; yes, from that time that your ear was not opened: for I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.
9 Pour l'amour de mon nom, je retarderai ma colère, et pour mon éloge, je le retiens pour vous pour que je ne vous coupe pas la route.
For my name’s sake will I defer my anger, and for my praise will I refrain for you, that I cut you not off.
10 Voici, je vous ai raffiné, mais pas en argent. Je t'ai choisi dans la fournaise de l'affliction.
Behold, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.
11 Pour mon propre bien, pour mon propre bien, je le ferai; car comment mon nom serait-il profané? Je ne donnerai pas ma gloire à un autre.
For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory to another.
12 « Écoute-moi, ô Jacob! et Israël mon appelé: Je suis lui. Je suis le premier. Je suis aussi le dernier.
Listen to me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13 Oui, ma main a posé les fondements de la terre, et ma main droite a déployé les cieux. quand je les appelle, ils se lèvent ensemble.
My hand also has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spanned the heavens: when I call to them, they stand up together.
14 « Assemblez-vous, vous tous, et écoutez! Qui parmi eux a déclaré ces choses? Celui que Yahvé aime fera ce qu'il aime à Babylone, et son bras sera contre les Chaldéens.
All you, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them has declared these things? The LORD has loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
15 C'est moi, moi aussi, qui ai parlé. Oui, je l'ai appelé. Je l'ai amené et il fera prospérer son chemin.
I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
16 « Approche-toi de moi et écoute ceci: « Dès le début, je n'ai pas parlé en secret; à partir du moment où c'est arrivé, j'étais là. » Le Seigneur Yahvé m'a envoyé avec son Esprit.
Come you near to me, hear you this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, has sent me.
17 Yahvé, votre Rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël, dit: « Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu, qui vous apprend à faire du profit, qui vous conduit par le chemin que vous devez suivre.
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God which teaches you to profit, which leads you by the way that you should go.
18 Oh, si vous aviez écouté mes commandements! Alors ta paix aurait été comme une rivière et ta justice comme les vagues de la mer.
O that you had listened to my commandments! then had your peace been as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea:
19 Ta descendance aurait été comme le sable. et les descendants de ton corps comme ses grains. Son nom ne sera pas retranché ni détruit devant moi. »
Your seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of your bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
20 Quittez Babylone! Fuyez les Chaldéens! Avec une voix chantante, annoncez ceci, le raconter jusqu'au bout du monde; dire: « Yahvé a racheté son serviteur Jacob! »
Go you forth of Babylon, flee you from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare you, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say you, The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.
21 Ils n'ont pas eu soif quand il les a conduits à travers les déserts. Il a fait jaillir les eaux du rocher pour eux. Il a aussi fendu le rocher et les eaux ont jailli.
And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he split the rock also, and the waters gushed out.
22 « Il n'y a pas de paix », dit Yahvé, « pour les méchants ».
There is no peace, says the LORD, to the wicked.
