Isaïe 43
1 Mais maintenant, Yahvé qui t'a créé, Jacob, et celui qui t'a formé, Israël, dit: « N'ayez pas peur, car je vous ai rachetés. Je t'ai appelé par ton nom. Tu es à moi.
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine.
2 Quand tu traverseras les eaux, je serai avec toi, et par les fleuves, ils ne te déborderont pas. Lorsque vous traverserez le feu, vous ne serez pas brûlé, et la flamme ne vous brûlera pas.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 Car je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, le Saint d'Israël, votre Sauveur. J'ai donné l'Égypte comme rançon pour vous, Ethiopie et Seba à votre place.
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy saviour; I have given Egypt as thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Puisque tu as été précieux et honoré à mes yeux, et je t'ai aimé, c'est pourquoi je donnerai des gens à ta place, et des nations au lieu de votre vie.
Since thou hast been precious in my sight, [and] honourable, and I have loved thee; therefore will I give men for thee, and peoples for thy life.
5 N'ayez pas peur, car je suis avec vous. Je ferai venir ta progéniture de l'est, et vous rassemblera de l'ouest.
Fear not; for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6 Je dirai au Nord: « Livrez-les! et dites au sud: « Ne les retenez pas! ». Fais venir mes fils de loin, et mes filles du bout du monde...
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back; bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the end of the earth;
7 tous ceux qui sont appelés par mon nom, et que j'ai créés pour ma gloire, que j'ai formés, oui, que j'ai fait. »
every one that is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory; I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
8 Faites sortir les aveugles qui ont des yeux, et les sourds qui ont des oreilles.
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
9 Que toutes les nations soient rassemblées, et que les peuples se rassemblent. Qui parmi eux peut déclarer cela, et nous montrer des choses anciennes? Qu'ils amènent leurs témoins, afin qu'ils soient justifiés, ou qu'ils entendent, et disent, « C'est vrai ».
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
10 « Vous êtes mes témoins », dit Yahvé, « Avec mon serviteur que j'ai choisi; afin que vous puissiez me connaître et me croire, et comprendre que je suis lui. Avant moi, il n'y avait pas de Dieu formé, et il n'y en aura pas non plus après moi.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 Je suis moi-même Yahvé. A part moi, il n'y a pas de sauveur.
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
12 J'ai déclaré, j'ai sauvé et j'ai montré, et il n'y avait pas de dieu étranger parmi vous. Vous êtes donc mes témoins », dit Yahvé, « et je suis Dieu.
I have declared, and I have saved, and I have shewed, and there was no strange [god] among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and I am God.
13 Oui, depuis le jour, c'est moi. Il n'y a personne qui puisse délivrer de ma main. Je vais travailler, et qui peut m'en empêcher? »
Yea, since the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
14 L'Éternel, ton Rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël, dit: « À cause de toi, j'ai envoyé à Babylone, et je les ferai tous tomber comme des fugitifs, les Chaldéens, dans les navires de leur joie.
Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring down all of them as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships of their rejoicing.
15 Je suis Yahvé, ton Saint, le Créateur d'Israël, ton Roi. »
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.
16 Yahvé, qui ouvre un chemin dans la mer, et un chemin dans les eaux puissantes,
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
17 qui fait sortir le char et le cheval, l'armée et l'homme puissant (ils se couchent ensemble, ils ne se relèveront pas; ils sont éteints, ils sont éteints comme une mèche) dit:
which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinct, they are quenched as flax:
18 « Ne te souviens pas des choses passées, et ne considère pas les choses du passé.
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19 Voici, je vais faire une chose nouvelle. Il sort maintenant. Tu ne le sais pas? Je ferai même un chemin dans le désert, et des rivières dans le désert.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
20 Les animaux des champs, les chacals et les autruches, m'honoreront, car je donne de l'eau dans le désert et des fleuves dans la plaine, pour donner à boire à mon peuple, mon élu,
The beasts of the field shall honour me, the jackals and the ostriches: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen:
21 le peuple que je me suis formé, afin qu'ils publient mes louanges.
the people which I formed for myself, that they might set forth my praise.
22 Mais tu ne m'as pas invoqué, Jacob; mais tu t'es lassé de moi, Israël.
Yet thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.
23 Vous ne m'avez apporté aucun de vos moutons en holocauste, vous ne m'avez pas non plus honoré par vos sacrifices. Je ne vous ai pas chargé d'offrandes, ni ne vous a fatigué avec l'encens.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not made thee to serve with offerings, nor wearied thee with frankincense.
24 Tu ne m'as pas acheté de canne à sucre avec de l'argent, et vous ne m'avez pas rempli de la graisse de vos sacrifices, mais vous m'avez chargé de vos péchés. Vous m'avez fatigué avec vos iniquités.
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
25 C'est moi, moi aussi, qui efface vos transgressions à cause de moi; et je ne me souviendrai pas de vos péchés.
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins.
26 Rappelle-toi de moi. Plaidons ensemble. Déclarez votre affaire, pour que vous soyez justifié.
Put me in remembrance; let us plead together: set thou forth [thy cause], that thou mayest be justified.
27 Ton premier père a péché, et vos maîtres ont transgressé mes règles.
Thy first father sinned, and thine interpreters have transgressed against me.
28 C'est pourquoije profanerai les princes du sanctuaire; et je ferai de Jacob une malédiction, et Israël une insulte. »
Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary, and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel a reviling.
