Isaïe 40
1 « Consolez, consolez mon peuple, dit votre Dieu.
Comfort ye, comfort ye My people, saith your God.
2 « Parle avec réconfort à Jérusalem, et crie-lui que son combat est accompli, que son iniquité est pardonnée, qu'elle a reçu de la main de Yahvé le double de tous ses péchés. »
Bid Jerusalem take heart, and proclaim unto her, that her time of service is accomplished, that her guilt is paid off; that she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3 La voix de celui qui crie, « Préparez le chemin de Yahvé dans le désert! Faites une route plate dans le désert pour notre Dieu.
Hark! one calleth: 'Clear ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make plain in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Toute vallée sera exaltée, et toute montagne et toute colline seront abaissées. Le sol doit être nivelé, et les endroits rugueux une plaine.
Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain;
5 La gloire de Yahvé sera révélée, et toute chair le verra ensemble; car la bouche de Yahvé l'a dit. »
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.'
6 La voix de quelqu'un qui dit: « Crie! » L'un d'eux a dit: « Que dois-je pleurer? » « Toute chair est comme l'herbe, et toute sa gloire est comme la fleur des champs.
Hark! one saith: 'Proclaim!' And he saith: 'What shall I proclaim?' 'All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field;
7 L'herbe se fane, la fleur se fane, parce que le souffle de Yahvé souffle dessus. Les gens sont sûrement comme de l'herbe.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the LORD bloweth upon it — surely the people is grass.
8 L'herbe se fane, la fleur se fane; mais la parole de notre Dieu est éternelle. »
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.'
9 Vous qui annoncez de bonnes nouvelles à Sion, montez sur une haute montagne. Vous qui annoncez la bonne nouvelle à Jérusalem, élevez votre voix avec force! Soulevez-le! N'ayez pas peur! Dis aux villes de Juda: « Voici votre Dieu! »
O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain; O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah: 'Behold your God!'
10 Voici, le Seigneur Yahvé viendra comme un puissant, et son bras gouvernera pour lui. Voici, sa récompense est avec lui, et sa récompense devant lui.
Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a Mighty One, and His arm will rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.
11 Il fera paître son troupeau comme un berger. Il rassemblera les agneaux dans son bras, et les porter dans son sein. Il conduira doucement ceux qui ont leurs petits.
Even as a shepherd that feedeth his flock, that gathereth the lambs in his arm, and carrieth them in his bosom, and gently leadeth those that give suck.
12 Qui a mesuré les eaux dans le creux de sa main, et a marqué le ciel de son empreinte, et a calculé la poussière de la terre dans un panier à mesurer, et a pesé les montagnes dans une balance, et les collines en équilibre?
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 qui a dirigé l'Esprit de Yahvé, ou l'a enseigné en tant que conseiller?
Who hath meted out the spirit of the LORD? Or who was His counsellor that he might instruct Him?
14 Avec qui a-t-il pris conseil? et qui l'a instruit, et lui a enseigné le chemin de la justice, et lui a enseigné la connaissance, et lui a montré le chemin de la compréhension?
With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right, and taught Him knowledge, and made Him to know the way of discernment?
15 Voici, les nations sont comme une goutte d'eau dans un seau, et sont considérés comme un grain de poussière sur une balance. Voici qu'il soulève les îles comme une toute petite chose.
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance; behold the isles are as a mote in weight.
16 Liban n'est pas suffisant pour brûler, ni ses animaux suffisants pour un holocauste.
And Lebanon is not sufficient fuel, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for burnt-offerings.
17 Toutes les nations ne sont rien devant lui. Ils sont considérés par lui comme des moins que rien, et de la vanité.
All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are accounted by Him as things of nought, and vanity.
18 A qui donc comparerez-vous Dieu? Ou quelle ressemblance lui ferez-vous?
To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?
19 Un ouvrier a coulé une image, et l'orfèvre le recouvre d'or, et jette des chaînes en argent pour lui.
The image perchance, which the craftsman hath melted, and the goldsmith spread over with gold, the silversmith casting silver chains?
20 Celui qui est trop pauvre pour une telle offrande choisit un arbre qui ne pourrit pas. Il cherche un ouvrier habile pour lui ériger une image sculptée qui ne sera pas déplacée.
A holm-oak is set apart, he chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning craftsman to set up an image, that shall not be moved.
21 Vous ne le saviez pas? Tu n'as pas entendu? Ne vous a-t-on pas dit depuis le début? N'avez-vous pas compris depuis les fondations de la terre?
Know ye not? hear ye not? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood the foundations of the earth?
22 C'est lui qui est assis au-dessus du cercle de la terre, et ses habitants sont comme des sauterelles; qui étend les cieux comme un rideau, et les déploie comme une tente pour y habiter,
It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
23 qui réduit les princes à néant, qui rend les juges de la terre insignifiants.
That bringeth princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as a thing of nought.
24 Ils sont à peine plantés. Ils sont peu semés. Leur stock a à peine pris racine dans le sol. Il souffle simplement sur eux, et ils se fanent, et le tourbillon les emporte comme du chaume.
Scarce are they planted, scarce are they sown, scarce hath their stock taken root in the earth; when He bloweth upon them, they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble.
25 « A qui donc me comparerez-vous? Qui est mon égal? » dit le Saint.
To whom then will ye liken Me, that I should be equal? saith the Holy One.
26 Lève tes yeux en haut, et voir qui les a créés, qui fait sortir son armée par numéro. Il les appelle tous par leur nom. par la grandeur de sa puissance, et parce qu'il est fort en puissance, pas un ne manque.
Lift up your eyes on high, and see: who hath created these? He that bringeth out their host by number, He calleth them all by name; by the greatness of His might, and for that He is strong in power, not one faileth.
27 Pourquoi dis-tu, Jacob, et parle, Israël, « Mon chemin est caché de Yahvé, et la justice qui m'est due est méprisée par mon Dieu? »
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: 'My way is hid from the LORD, and my right is passed over from my God'?
28 Vous ne savez pas? Tu n'as pas entendu? Le Dieu éternel, Yahvé, le Créateur des extrémités de la terre, ne s'évanouit pas. Il n'est pas fatigué. Son intelligence est insondable.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out.
29 Il donne du pouvoir aux faibles. Il augmente la force de celui qui n'a pas de force.
He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength.
30 Même les jeunes gens se fatiguent et se lassent, et les jeunes hommes tombent complètement;
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;
31 mais ceux qui espèrent en Yahvé renouvelleront leur force. Ils s'élèveront avec des ailes comme des aigles. Ils courront, et ne se lasseront pas. Ils marcheront, et ne s'évanouiront pas.
But they that wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
