Isaïe 38
1 En ces jours-là, Ézéchias était malade et près de mourir. Le prophète Ésaïe, fils d'Amoz, vint le trouver et lui dit: « Yahvé dit: « Mets en ordre ta maison, car tu vas mourir et tu ne vivras pas. »
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him: 'Thus saith the LORD: Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.'
2 Alors Ézéchias tourna son visage vers la muraille et pria Yahvé,
Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
3 et dit: « Souviens-toi maintenant, Yahvé, je t'en supplie, que j'ai marché devant toi dans la vérité et avec un cœur parfait, et que j'ai fait ce qui est bon à tes yeux. » Et Ézéchias pleura amèrement.
and said: 'Remember now, O LORD, I beseech Thee, how I have walked before Thee in truth and with a whole heart, and have done that which is good in Thy sight.' And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 Et la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Ésaïe, en ces termes:
Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying:
5 « Va, et dis à Ézéchias: « Yahvé, le Dieu de David, ton père, dit: « J'ai entendu ta prière. J'ai vu tes larmes. Voici, je vais ajouter quinze ans à ta vie.
'Go, and say to Hezekiah: Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears; behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
6 Je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie, et je défendrai cette ville.
And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.
7 Ce sera pour vous un signe de la part de l'Éternel: l'Éternel fera ce qu'il a dit.
And this shall be the sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that He hath spoken:
8 Voici, je vais faire en sorte que l'ombre du cadran solaire, qui s'est couchée sur le cadran solaire d'Achaz avec le soleil, revienne en arrière de dix pas.''". Le soleil revint donc de dix pas sur le cadran solaire sur lequel il s'était couché.
behold, I will cause the shadow of the dial, which is gone down on the sun-dial of Ahaz, to return backward ten degrees.' So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
9 Écriture d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda, lorsqu'il fut malade et qu'il fut guéri de sa maladie:
The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.
10 J'ai dit: « Au milieu de ma vie, j'entre dans les portes du séjour des morts. Je suis privé du résidu de mes années. » (Sheol h7585)
I said: In the noontide of my days I shall go, even to the gates of the nether-world; I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)
11 J'ai dit: « Je ne verrai pas Yah, Yah sur la terre des vivants. Je ne verrai plus l'homme avec les habitants du monde.
I said: I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD in the land of the living; I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
12 Ma demeure est enlevée, et est emporté loin de moi comme la tente d'un berger. J'ai enroulé ma vie comme un tisserand. Il me coupera du métier à tisser. Du jour à la nuit, vous allez m'achever.
My habitation is plucked up and carried away from me as a shepherd's tent; I have rolled up like a weaver my life; He will cut me off from the thrum; from day even to night wilt Thou make an end of me.
13 J'ai attendu patiemment jusqu'au matin. Il brise tous mes os comme un lion. Du jour à la nuit, vous allez m'achever.
The more I make myself like unto a lion until morning, the more it breaketh all my bones; from day even to night wilt Thou make an end of me.
14 Je bavardais comme une hirondelle ou une grue. J'ai gémi comme une colombe. Mes yeux faiblissent en regardant vers le haut. Seigneur, je suis opprimé. Sois ma sécurité. »
Like a swallow or a crane, so do I chatter, I do moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward. O LORD, I am oppressed, be Thou my surety.
15 Que vais-je dire? Il m'a à la fois parlé, et l'a fait lui-même. Je marcherai prudemment toutes mes années à cause de l'angoisse de mon âme.
What shall I say? He hath both spoken unto me, and Himself hath done it; I shall go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul.
16 Seigneur, les hommes vivent par ces choses; et mon esprit trouve la vie dans chacun d'eux. Tu me rétablis et me fais vivre.
O Lord, by these things men live, and altogether therein is the life of my spirit; wherefore recover Thou me, and make me to live.
17 Voici, pour la paix, j'ai eu de grandes angoisses, mais tu as, par amour pour mon âme, délivré celle-ci de la fosse de la corruption; car tu as rejeté tous mes péchés derrière ton dos.
Behold, for my peace I had great bitterness; but Thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back.
18 Car le séjour des morts ne peut te louer. La mort ne peut pas te célébrer. Ceux qui descendent dans la fosse ne peuvent espérer votre vérité. (Sheol h7585)
For the nether-world cannot praise Thee, death cannot celebrate Thee; they that go down into the pit cannot hope for Thy truth. (Sheol h7585)
19 Le vivant, le vivant, il te louera, comme je le fais aujourd'hui. Le père fera connaître ta vérité aux enfants.
The living, the living, he shall praise Thee, as I do this day; the father to the children shall make known Thy truth.
20 L'Éternel me sauvera. C'est pourquoi nous chanterons mes chansons avec des instruments à cordes tous les jours de notre vie dans la maison de Yahvé.
The LORD is ready to save me; therefore we will sing songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
21 Or Ésaïe avait dit: « Qu'on prenne un gâteau de figues, qu'on le pose en cataplasme sur l'ulcère, et il guérira. »
And Isaiah said: 'Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.'
22 Ézéchias aussi avait dit: « Quel est le signe que je monterai à la maison de l'Éternel? »
And Hezekiah said. 'What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?'
