Isaïe 2
1 Voici ce qu'Ésaïe, fils d'Amoz, a vu concernant Juda et Jérusalem.
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Dans la suite des temps, la montagne de la maison de l'Éternel sera établie sur le sommet des montagnes, et sera élevé au-dessus des collines; et toutes les nations affluent vers elle.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mount of the LORD'S house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.
3 Des peuples nombreux iront et diront, « Viens, montons sur la montagne de Yahvé, à la maison du Dieu de Jacob; et il nous enseignera ses voies, et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers. » Car la loi sortira de Sion, et la parole de Yahvé depuis Jérusalem.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 Il jugera entre les nations, et décidera au sujet de nombreux peuples. Ils briseront leurs épées en socs de charrue, et leurs lances en crochets d'émondage. Une nation ne doit pas lever l'épée contre une autre nation, et ils n'apprendront plus la guerre.
And he will judge among the nations, and will rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into pruning-hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 Maison de Jacob, venez, et marchons à la lumière de Yahvé.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
6 Car tu as abandonné ton peuple, la maison de Jacob, parce qu'ils sont remplis de l'est, avec ceux qui pratiquent la divination comme les Philistins, et ils serrent la main des enfants des étrangers.
Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the east, and [are] sooth-sayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
7 Leur terre est pleine d'argent et d'or, et leurs trésors n'ont pas de fin. Leurs terres sont aussi pleines de chevaux, et il n'y a pas de fin à leurs chars.
Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither [is there any] end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither [is there any] end of their chariots:
8 Leur pays aussi est rempli d'idoles. Ils vénèrent le travail de leurs propres mains, ce que leurs propres doigts ont fait.
Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
9 L'homme est abaissé, et l'humanité est humiliée; donc ne les pardonnez pas.
And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.
10 Entrez dans le rocher, et se cachent dans la poussière, devant la terreur de Yahvé, et de la gloire de sa majesté.
Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.
11 Les regards hautains de l'homme seront abaissés, l'arrogance des hommes sera abaissée, et Yahvé seul sera exalté en ce jour-là.
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be abased, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 Car il y aura un jour de Yahvé des armées pour tout ce qui est fier et arrogant, et pour tout ce qui est élevé, et il sera amené en bas-
For the day of the LORD of hosts [shall be] upon every [one that is] proud and lofty, and upon every [one that is] lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
13 pour tous les cèdres du Liban, qui sont hauts et élevés, pour tous les chênes de Bashan,
And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, [that are] high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,
14 pour toutes les hautes montagnes, pour toutes les collines qui s'élèvent,
And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills [that are] lifted up,
15 pour chaque tour élevée, pour chaque mur fortifié,
And upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall,
16 pour tous les navires de Tarsis, et pour toutes les images agréables.
And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.
17 La hauteur de l'homme sera abaissée, et l'arrogance des hommes sera abaissée; et Yahvé seul sera exalté en ce jour-là.
And the loftiness of man shall be abased, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 Les idoles disparaîtront complètement.
And the idols he will utterly abolish.
19 Les hommes entreront dans les grottes des rochers, et dans les trous de la terre, devant la terreur de Yahvé, et de la gloire de sa majesté, quand il se lèvera pour secouer puissamment la terre.
And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20 En ce jour-là, les hommes rejetteront leurs idoles d'argent. et leurs idoles d'or, qui ont été faites pour être adorées, aux taupes et aux chauves-souris,
In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made [each one] for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
21 pour aller dans les cavernes des rochers, et dans les fentes des rochers déchiquetés, devant la terreur de Yahvé, et de la gloire de sa majesté, quand il se lèvera pour secouer puissamment la terre.
To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
22 Ne vous fiez pas à l'homme, dont le souffle est dans ses narines; car à quoi sert-il?
Cease ye from man, whose breath [is] in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?
