Osée 4
1 Écoutez la parole de Yahvé, enfants d'Israël, car Yahvé a une charge contre les habitants du pays: « En effet, il n'y a pas de vérité, ni de bonté, ni la connaissance de Dieu dans le pays.
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.
2 Il y a la malédiction, le mensonge, le meurtre, le vol et l'adultère; ils brisent les frontières, et les effusions de sang provoquent des effusions de sang.
Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood.
3 C'est pourquoi le pays sera dans le deuil, et tous ceux qui l'habitent dépériront, avec tous les êtres vivants en elle, même les animaux des champs et les oiseaux du ciel; oui, les poissons de la mer meurent aussi.
Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth in it shall languish with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together.
4 « Que personne ne porte plainte, que personne n'accuse; car ton peuple est comme ceux qui portent plainte contre un prêtre.
But yet let not any man judge: and let not a man be rebuked: for thy people are as they that contradict the priest.
5 Vous trébucherez le jour, et le prophète aussi trébuchera avec vous dans la nuit; et je détruirai ta mère.
And thou shalt fall today, and the prophet also shall fall with thee: in the night I have made thy mother to be silent.
6 Mon peuple est détruit par manque de connaissance. Parce que vous avez rejeté la connaissance, je vous rejetterai aussi, pour que vous ne soyez pas un prêtre pour moi. Parce que vous avez oublié la loi de votre Dieu, J'oublierai aussi vos enfants.
My people have been silent, because they had no knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will reject thee, that thou shalt not do the office of priesthood to me: and thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.
7 Comme ils se sont multipliés, ils ont péché contre moi. Je changerai leur gloire en honte.
According to the multitude of them so have they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.
8 Ils se nourrissent du péché de mon peuple, et ont mis leur cœur dans leur iniquité.
They shall eat the sins of my people, and shall lift up their souls to their iniquity.
9 Il sera comme un peuple, comme un prêtre; et je les punirai pour leur conduite, et leur rendra la monnaie de leur pièce.
And there shall be like people like priest: and I will visit their ways upon them, and I will repay them their devices.
10 Ils mangeront, et n'auront pas assez. Ils joueront les prostituées, et n'augmenteront pas; parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'écoute de Yahvé.
And they shall eat and shall not be filled: they have committed fornication, and have not ceased: because they have forsaken the Lord in not observing his law.
11 La prostitution, le vin et le vin nouveau enlèvent l'intelligence.
Fornication, and wine, and drunkenness take away the understanding.
12 Mon peuple consulte son idole de bois, et répondre à un bâton de bois. En effet, l'esprit de prostitution les a égarés, et ils ont été infidèles à leur Dieu.
My people have consulted their stocks, and their staff hath declared unto them: for the spirit of fornication hath deceived them, and they have committed fornication against their God.
13 Ils sacrifient sur les sommets des montagnes, et brûlent de l'encens sur les collines, sous les chênes, les peupliers et les térébinthes, parce que sa teinte est bonne. C'est pourquoi vos filles jouent les prostituées, et vos épouses commettent l'adultère.
They offered sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burnt incense upon the hills: under the oak, and the poplar, and the turpentine tree, because the shadow thereof was good: therefore shall your daughters commit fornication, and your spouses shall be adulteresses.
14 Je ne punirai pas vos filles lorsqu'elles se prostituent, ni vos épouses quand elles commettent l'adultère; parce que les hommes fréquentent des prostituées, et ils sacrifient avec les prostituées du sanctuaire; ainsi les gens sans compréhension viendront à la ruine.
I will not visit upon your daughters when they shell commit fornication, and upon your spouses when they shall commit adultery: because themselves conversed with harlots, and offered sacrifice with the effeminate, and the people that doth not understand shall be beaten.
15 « Bien que toi, Israël, tu joues les prostituées, mais ne laissez pas Judah s'offenser; et ne venez pas à Gilgal, ni aller jusqu'à Beth Aven, ni de jurer: « Comme Yahvé vit ».
If thou play the harlot, O Israel, at least let not Juda offend: and go ye not into Galgal, and come not up into Bethaven, and do not swear: The Lord liveth.
16 Car Israël s'est montré extrêmement têtu, comme une génisse obstinée. Alors comment Yahvé les nourrira-t-il comme un agneau dans une prairie?
For Israel hath gone astray like a wanton heifer: now will the Lord feed them, as a lamb in a spacious place.
17 Ephraïm est attaché aux idoles. Laissez-le tranquille!
Ephraim is a partaker with idols, let him alone.
18 Leur boisson est devenue aigre. Ils jouent continuellement la prostituée. Ses gouvernants aiment beaucoup leur manière honteuse.
Their banquet is separated, they have gone astray by fornication: they that should have protected them have loved to bring shame upon them.
19 Le vent l'a enveloppée dans ses ailes; et ils seront déçus à cause de leurs sacrifices.
The wind hath bound them up in its wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices.
