Osée 2
1 « Dis à tes frères: « Mon peuple »! et à tes sœurs: « Mon bien-aimé ».
Call ye your brethren My-people; and your sisters Pitied.
2 Contestez avec votre mère! Contestez, car elle n'est pas ma femme, je ne suis pas non plus son mari; et qu'elle fasse disparaître sa prostitution de son visage, et ses adultères d'entre ses seins;
Contend ye with your mother, contend! For she is not my wife, Nor am I her husband; That she put away lewdness from her face, And adultery from her breasts, Lest I strip her naked, And expose her, as when she was born;
3 de peur que je ne la déshabille, et la rendre nue comme au jour de sa naissance, et la rendre comme une nature sauvage, et l'a placée comme une terre sèche, et la tuer par la soif.
Lest I make her as the desert, and like a parched land, And kill her with thirst.
4 En effet, je n'aurai aucune pitié pour ses enfants, car ils sont les enfants de l'infidélité.
Upon her sons also I will not have pity, For they are the sons of lewdness.
5 Car leur mère s'est prostituée. Celle qui les a conçus a commis une faute; car elle a dit: « Je vais suivre mes amants », qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et ma boisson.
For their mother hath been guilty of lewdness; She that bore them hath brought upon herself shame; For she said, I will go after my lovers, Who give me my food and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my strong drink.
6 C'est pourquoi voici, je vais couvrir d'épines ton chemin, et je construirai un mur contre elle, qu'elle ne peut pas trouver son chemin.
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up her way with thorns, And I will enclose her with a wall, So that she shall not find her paths.
7 Elle suivra ses amants, mais elle ne les dépassera pas; et elle les cherchera, mais ne les trouvera pas. Elle dira alors: « Je m'en vais et je retourne chez mon premier mari, car j'étais alors mieux avec moi que maintenant.
When she followeth after her lovers, she shall not overtake them; When she seeketh them, she shall not find them. Then shall she say, I will go back to my former husband, For then it was better with me than now.
8 Car elle ne savait pas que je lui avais donné le grain, le vin nouveau et l'huile, et lui ont multiplié l'argent et l'or, qu'ils utilisaient pour Baal.
For she did not consider that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, And multiplied silver unto her, And gold, of which they made images of Baal.
9 C'est pourquoi je reprendrai mon blé en son temps, et mon vin nouveau en sa saison, et il arrachera ma laine et mon lin qui auraient dû couvrir sa nudité.
Therefore will I take back my corn in its time, And my new wine in its season, And I will take away my wool and my flax, Which covered her nakedness.
10 Maintenant, je découvrirai son impudicité aux yeux de ses amants, et personne ne la délivrera de ma main.
And now will I reveal her shame before the eyes of her lovers, And none shall deliver her out of my hand.
11 Je ferai aussi cesser toutes ses célébrations: ses fêtes, ses nouvelles lunes, ses sabbats, et toutes ses assemblées solennelles.
And I will cause all her joy to cease; Her feasts, and new moons, and sabbaths, And all her festal days.
12 Je détruirai ses vignes et ses figuiers, dont elle a dit: « Voici le salaire que m'ont donné mes amants ». et je leur ferai une forêt, et les animaux des champs les mangeront.
I will destroy her vines, and her fig-trees, Of which she said, These are my hire, Which my lovers have given me; And I will make them a forest, And the wild beasts shall eat them.
13 Je visiterai sur elle les jours des Baals, à laquelle elle a brûlé de l'encens quand elle s'est parée de ses boucles d'oreilles et de ses bijoux, et est allée chercher ses amants et m'ont oublié », dit Yahvé.
I will punish her for the days of the Baals, When she burned incense to them, And decked herself with her rings and her jewels, And went after her lovers, And forgot me, saith Jehovah.
14 « Voici donc que je vais la séduire, et l'amener dans le désert, et lui parler tendrement.
Therefore, behold, I will allure her, And will lead her to the desert, And will speak kindly to her;
15 Je lui donnerai des vignes à partir de là, et la vallée d'Achor pour une porte d'espoir; et elle y répondra comme au temps de sa jeunesse, et comme au jour où elle est sortie du pays d'Égypte.
And thence will I give her her vineyards, And the valley of Achor for a door of hope; And there shall she sing, as in the days of her youth! As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.
16 Il en sera ainsi en ce jour-là, dit Yahvé, « que tu m'appelles 'mon mari', et ne m'appelle plus « mon maître ».
At that time, saith Jehovah, Thou shalt call me, MY HUSBAND; Thou shalt no more call me, MY BAAL;
17 Car j'ôterai de sa bouche les noms des Baals, et ils ne seront plus mentionnés par leur nom.
For I will take away the name of the Baals out of her mouth, And their name shall no more be uttered.
18 En ce jour-là, je conclurai pour eux une alliance avec les animaux des champs, et avec les oiseaux du ciel, et avec les reptiles du sol. Je briserai l'arc, l'épée et la bataille hors du pays, et les fera se coucher en toute sécurité.
At that time will I make for them a covenant With the beasts of the forest, and with the birds of heaven, And with the creeping things of the ground. The bow and the sword and the battle will I break from the land, And I will cause them to lie down in safety.
19 Je te fiancerai à moi pour toujours. Oui, je te fiancerai à moi dans la droiture, la justice, la bonté et la compassion.
I will betroth thee to me forever; Yea, I will betroth thee to me in righteousness, and in justice, And in kindness, and in tender love.
20 Je te fiancerai même à moi dans la fidélité; et vous connaîtrez Yahvé.
Yea, I will betroth thee to me in faithfulness, And thou shalt know Jehovah.
21 Il arrivera en ce jour-là que je répondrai, dit Yahvé. « Je vais répondre aux cieux, et ils répondront à la terre;
At that time will I hear, saith Jehovah; I will hear the heavens; And they shall hear the earth,
22 et la terre répondra au grain, au vin nouveau et à l'huile; et ils répondront à Jezreel.
And the earth shall hear the corn, and the new wine, and the oil, And they shall hear Jezreel.
23 Je la sèmerai pour moi dans la terre; et j'aurai pitié de celle qui n'avait pas obtenu de pitié; et je dirai à ceux qui n'étaient pas mon peuple: « Vous êtes mon peuple ». et ils diront: « Tu es mon Dieu ».
And I will plant her for myself in the land; And I will have pity upon her that was called Unpitied; And I will say to them called Not-my-people, Thou art my people; And they shall say, Thou art my God.
