Hébreux 8
1 Or, dans ce que nous disons, l'essentiel est ceci: nous avons un tel grand prêtre, qui s'est assis à la droite du trône de la Majesté dans les cieux,
But in addition to the things which having been spoken this is the principal thing: We have such a high priest, who sat on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
2 serviteur du sanctuaire et du véritable tabernacle que le Seigneur a dressé, et non un homme.
The minister of the holy things, and of the true tabernacle, which God pitched, and not man.
3 Car tout grand prêtre est appelé à offrir des dons et des sacrifices. Il est donc nécessaire que ce grand prêtre ait aussi quelque chose à offrir.
For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices: whence it is necessary to have something even that which he may offer.
4 Car s'il était sur la terre, il ne serait pas prêtre du tout, puisqu'il y a des prêtres qui offrent des dons selon la loi,
If then indeed he was on the earth, he would not be a priest, there being those offering gifts according to law,
5 qui servent de copie et d'ombre des choses célestes, comme Moïse en a été averti par Dieu lorsqu'il allait construire le tabernacle, car il a dit: « Voici, tu feras tout selon le modèle qui t'a été montré sur la montagne. »
whosoever serve the pattern and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses about to complete the tabernacle was commanded: for, he says, See that you shall make all things after the pattern which was shown to you in the mount:
6 Mais maintenant il a obtenu un ministère plus excellent, dans la mesure où il est aussi le médiateur d'une alliance meilleure, qui, sur de meilleures promesses, a été donnée comme loi.
but now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, insomuch that he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been founded on better promises.
7 Car si cette première alliance avait été sans défaut, on n'aurait pas cherché à en établir une seconde.
For if that first covenant had been faultless, a place would not have been sought for the second.
8 Car, les ayant trouvés en faute, il dit, « Voici, les jours viennent », dit le Seigneur, « que je ferai une nouvelle alliance avec la maison d'Israël et avec la maison de Juda;
For finding fault with them, he says, Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, and I will perfect upon the house of Israel and upon the house of Judah, a new covenant:
9 non selon l'alliance que j'ai faite avec leurs pères le jour où je les ai pris par la main pour les faire sortir du pays d'Égypte; car ils n'ont pas persévéré dans mon alliance, et je les ai négligés », dit le Seigneur.
not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they abode not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, says the Lord.
10 « Car voici l'alliance que je conclurai avec la maison d'Israël après ces jours-là », dit le Seigneur: « Je mettrai mes lois dans leur esprit; Je les écrirai aussi sur leur cœur. Je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple.
Because this is my covenant which I will establish with the house of Israel after these days, says the Lord; having given my laws in their mind, I will also write them on their heart; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be unto me a people.
11 Ils n'enseigneront pas à chaque homme son concitoyen et chacun son frère, en disant: « Connais le Seigneur ». car tous me connaîtront, du plus petit au plus grand.
And they shall no longer teach each one his neighbor, each one his brother, saying, Know ye the Lord: because all shall know me, from their small even unto the great.
12 Car je serai miséricordieux envers leur iniquité. Je ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés et de leurs actes illicites. »
Because I will be merciful unto their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.
13 En disant: « Une nouvelle alliance », il a rendu la première caduque. Mais ce qui devient obsolète et vieillit est près de disparaître.
In that he calls it new, he has made the first one old; but that which is old and antiquated is nigh unto vanishing.
