Aggée 1
1 La deuxième année du roi Darius, le sixième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de Yahvé fut adressée par Aggée, le prophète, à Zorobabel, fils de Shealtiel, gouverneur de Juda, et à Josué, fils de Jotsadak, le grand prêtre, en ces termes:
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first of the month, came the word of Yahweh, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and unto Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, saying:
2 « Voici ce que dit Yahvé des armées: Ce peuple dit: 'Le temps n'est pas encore venu, le temps de construire la maison de Yahvé'. »
Thus, speaketh Yahweh of hosts, saying, —This people, have said, Not yet hath come the time for the house of Yahweh to be built.
3 Et la parole de Yahvé vint par Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
Therefore hath come the word of Yahweh by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
4 Est-ce le moment pour vous d'habiter dans vos maisons à pan coupé, tandis que cette maison est détruite?
Is it a time that, ye yourselves, should be dwelling in your own paneled houses? and, this house, be in ruins?
5 Voici donc ce que dit l'Éternel des armées: « Considérez vos voies.
Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart unto your own experience—
6 Vous avez beaucoup semé, et vous rapportez peu. Vous mangez, mais vous n'avez pas assez. Vous buvez, mais vous n'êtes pas rassasiés. Vous vous habillez, mais personne n'a chaud; et celui qui gagne un salaire le gagne pour le mettre dans un sac troué.''
Ye have sown much, but have brought in little, have eaten, and not been filled, have drunk, and not been satisfied with drink, have clothed you, and none hath been warm, —and, he that hath hired himself out, hath put his wages into a bag with holes.
7 Voici ce que dit l'Éternel des armées: « Considère tes voies.
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart to your own experience:
8 Monte sur la montagne, apporte du bois, et construis la maison. J'y prendrai plaisir, et je serai glorifié, dit l'Éternel.
Ascend the mountain—and bring in wood and build the house, —that I may be pleased therewith and get myself glory, saith Yahweh.
9 Tu as cherché beaucoup, et voici qu'il n'y a eu que peu de choses; et quand tu l'as rapportée à la maison, je l'ai soufflée. Pourquoi? dit l'Éternel des armées, à cause de ma maison qui gît, tandis que chacun de vous est occupé de sa propre maison.
When ye looked for much, then lo! it came to little, when ye brought it home, then I did blow into it, — Because of what? Demandeth Yahweh of hosts, Because of my house, the which is in ruins, while ye keep running every man to his own house.
10 C'est pourquoi, à cause de vous, les cieux retiennent la rosée, et la terre retient ses fruits.
Wherefore—on your account, have the heavens, held back, dew, — and, the earth, held back her fruit;
11 J'ai appelé la sécheresse sur la terre, sur les montagnes, sur le blé, sur le vin nouveau, sur l'huile, sur ce que produit le sol, sur les hommes, sur le bétail, et sur tout le travail des mains. »
And I have called for drought, upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the corn and upon the new wine and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground, bringeth forth, —and upon man, and upon beast, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12 Et Zorobabel, fils de Shealtiel, et Josué, fils de Jehozadak, le grand prêtre, et tout le reste du peuple, obéirent à la voix de Yahvé, leur Dieu, et aux paroles du prophète Aggée, comme Yahvé, leur Dieu, l'avait envoyé; et le peuple craignit Yahvé.
Then hearkened Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, unto the voice of Yahweh their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God, had sent him, —and the people, stood in awe, before Yahweh.
13 Alors Aggée, le messager de Yahvé, transmit au peuple le message de Yahvé, en disant: « Je suis avec vous, dit Yahvé.
Then spake Haggai the messenger of Yahweh, in the message of Yahweh, to the people saying, —I, am with you, Declareth Yahweh.
14 L'Éternel réveilla l'esprit de Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, gouverneur de Juda, l'esprit de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, le souverain sacrificateur, et l'esprit de tout le reste du peuple; et ils vinrent travailler à la maison de l'Éternel des armées, leur Dieu,
Thus did Yahweh, stir up—the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and the spirit of Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, —and they came in and did service in the house of Yahweh of hosts their God:
15 le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, le sixième mois, la seconde année du roi Darius.
on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, —in the second year of Darius the king.
