Ézéchiel 31
1 La onzième année, au troisième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée, en ces termes:
And in the eleuenth yeere, in the third moneth, and in the first day of the moneth the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
2 « Fils d'homme, dis à Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et à sa multitude: A qui ressembles-tu dans ta grandeur?
Sonne of man, speake vnto Pharaoh King of Egypt, and to his multitude, Whom art thou like in thy greatnesse?
3 Voici, l'Assyrien était un cèdre au Liban. avec de belles branches, et avec une ombre semblable à celle de la forêt, de haute stature; et son sommet était parmi les branches épaisses.
Beholde, Asshur was like a cedar in Lebanon with faire branches, and with thicke shadowing boughes, and shot vp very hye, and his toppe was among the thicke boughes.
4 Les eaux l'ont nourri. La profondeur l'a fait grandir. Ses rivières coulaient tout autour de sa plantation. Il a envoyé ses canaux à tous les arbres des champs.
The waters nourished him, and the deepe exalted him on hie with her riuers running round about his plants, and sent out her litle riuers vnto all the trees of the fielde.
5 C'est pourquoi sa stature était plus élevée que celle de tous les arbres des champs; et ses rameaux se sont multipliés. Ses branches sont devenues longues à cause des nombreuses eaux, quand il les a étalés.
Therefore his height was exalted aboue all the trees of the fielde, and his boughes were multiplied, and his branches were long, because of the multitude of the waters, which the deepe sent out.
6 Tous les oiseaux du ciel ont fait leur nid dans ses branches. Sous ses branches, tous les animaux des champs donnaient naissance à leurs petits. Toutes les grandes nations ont vécu dans son ombre.
All the foules of the heauen made their nestes in his boughes, and vnder his branches did all the beastes of the fielde bring foorth their yong, and vnder his shadowe dwelt all mightie nations.
7 Ainsi, elle était belle dans sa grandeur, dans la longueur de ses branches; car sa racine était près de nombreuses eaux.
Thus was he faire in his greatnesse, and in the length of his branches: for his roote was neere great waters.
8 Les cèdres du jardin de Dieu n'ont pu le cacher. Les cyprès n'étaient pas comme ses branches. Les pins n'étaient pas comme ses branches; et aucun arbre du jardin de Dieu ne lui ressemblait dans sa beauté.
The cedars in the garden of God coulde not hide him: no firre tree was like his branches, and the chessenut trees were not like his boughes: all the trees in the garden of God were not like vnto him in his beautie.
9 Je l'ai embelli par la multitude de ses branches, de sorte que tous les arbres de l'Eden, qui étaient dans le jardin de Dieu, l'enviaient.
I made him faire by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, enuied him.
10 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé Parce qu'il s'est élevé dans sa stature, qu'il a placé son sommet parmi les branches épaisses, et que son cœur s'est élevé dans sa hauteur,
Therefore thus sayeth the Lord God, Because he is lift vp on high, and hath shot vp his toppe among the thicke boughes, and his heart is lift vp in his height,
11 je le livrerai entre les mains du puissant des nations. Il lui fera du mal. Je l'ai chassé à cause de sa méchanceté.
I haue therefore deliuered him into the handes of the mightiest among the heathen: he shall handle him, for I haue cast him away for his wickednesse.
12 Les étrangers, les tyrans des nations, l'ont retranché et abandonné. Ses branches sont tombées sur les montagnes et dans toutes les vallées, et ses rameaux sont brisés par tous les cours d'eau du pays. Tous les peuples de la terre sont descendus de son ombre et l'ont abandonné.
And the strangers haue destroyed him, euen the terrible nations, and they haue left him vpon the mountaines, and in all the valleis his branches are fallen, and his boughes are broken by all the riuers of the land: and all the people of the earth are departed from his shadowe, and haue forsaken him.
13 Tous les oiseaux du ciel habiteront sur sa ruine, et tous les animaux des champs se tiendront sur ses branches,
Vpon his ruine shall all the foules of the heauen remaine, and all the beastes of the fielde shall be vpon his branches,
14 si bien qu'aucun de tous les arbres qui sont près des eaux ne s'élève dans sa stature, et ne pose sa cime parmi les rameaux épais. Leurs puissants ne se dressent pas sur leur hauteur, même tous ceux qui boivent de l'eau; car ils sont tous livrés à la mort, dans les parties inférieures de la terre, parmi les enfants des hommes, avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.''
So that none of all the trees by the waters shalbe exalted by their height, neither shall shoote vp their toppe among the thicke boughes, neither shall their leaues stand vp in their height, which drinke so much water: for they are all deliuered vnto death in the nether partes of the earth in the middes of the children of men among them that goe downe to the pit.
15 « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Le jour où il est descendu au séjour des morts, j'ai provoqué un deuil. J'ai couvert l'abîme pour lui, et j'ai retenu ses fleuves. Les grandes eaux ont été arrêtées. J'ai fait pleurer le Liban à cause de lui, et tous les arbres des champs se sont évanouis à cause de lui. (Sheol h7585)
Thus saith the Lord God, In the day when he went downe to hell, I caused them to mourne, and I couered the deepe for him, and I did restreine the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: I caused Lebanon to mourne for him, and all the trees of the fielde fainted. (Sheol h7585)
16 J'ai fait trembler les nations au bruit de sa chute, quand je l'ai précipité dans le séjour des morts avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse. Tous les arbres d'Éden, les meilleurs et les plus beaux du Liban, tous ceux qui boivent de l'eau, ont été consolés dans les parties inférieures de la terre. (Sheol h7585)
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him downe to hell with them that descend into the pit, and all the excellent trees of Eden, and the best of Lebanon: euen all that are nourished with waters, shall be comforted in the nether partes of the earth. (Sheol h7585)
17 Ils sont aussi descendus au séjour des morts avec lui, vers ceux qui sont tués par l'épée; oui, ceux qui étaient son bras, qui vivaient sous son ombre au milieu des nations. (Sheol h7585)
They also went downe to hell with him vnto them that be slaine with the sworde, and his arme, and they that dwelt vnder his shadowe in the middes of the heathen. (Sheol h7585)
18 "'A qui ressembles-tu ainsi, en gloire et en grandeur, parmi les arbres d'Eden? Mais tu seras descendu avec les arbres d'Eden dans les régions inférieures de la terre. Tu seras couché au milieu des incirconcis, avec ceux qui sont tués par l'épée. "'Voici Pharaon et toute sa multitude,' dit le Seigneur Yahvé. »
To whom art thou thus like in glorie and in greatnesse among the trees of Eden? yet thou shalt be cast downe with the trees of Eden vnto the nether partes of the earth: thou shalt sleepe in the middes of the vncircumcised, with them that be slaine by the sworde: this is Pharaoh and all his multitude, sayth the Lord God.
