Ézéchiel 24
1 La neuvième année, au dixième mois, le dixième jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
And the word of the LORD came unto me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, saying:
2 « Fils d'homme, écris le nom du jour, ce jour-là. En ce jour, le roi de Babylone s'est approché de Jérusalem.
'Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day; this selfsame day the king of Babylon hath invested Jerusalem.
3 Raconte une parabole à la maison rebelle, et dis-leur: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit, « Mets le chaudron sur le feu. Mettez-le, et aussi verser de l'eau dedans.
And utter a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it;
4 Rassemblez ses pièces en elle, même chaque bon morceau: la cuisse et l'épaule. Remplissez-le avec les os de choix.
Gather into it the pieces belonging to it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
5 Prenez le choix du troupeau, et aussi un tas de bois pour les os sous le chaudron. Faites-le bien bouillir. Oui, que ses os soient bouillis en son sein. »
Take the choice of the flock, and pile also the bones under it; make it boil well, that the bones thereof may also be seethed in the midst of it.
6 "'C'est pourquoi le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Malheur à cette ville sanglante, au chaudron dont la rouille est à l'intérieur, et dont la rouille n'a pas disparu! En retirer morceau après morceau sans tirer au sort.
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose filth is therein, and whose filth is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; no lot is fallen upon it.
7 "''Car le sang qu'elle a versé est au milieu d'elle. Elle l'a posé sur la roche nue. Elle ne l'a pas versé sur le sol, pour le recouvrir de poussière.
For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
8 afin de faire monter la colère pour se venger, J'ai mis son sang sur la roche nue, qu'il ne devrait pas être couvert. »
that it might cause fury to come up, that vengeance might be taken, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.
9 "'C'est pourquoi le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Malheur à cette ville sanglante! Je vais aussi faire en sorte que la pile soit grande.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great,
10 Entassez le bois. Faites chauffer le feu. Faites bien bouillir la viande. Rendez le bouillon épais, et que les os soient brûlés.
heaping on the wood, kindling the fire, that the flesh may be consumed; and preparing the mixture, that the bones also may be burned;
11 Puis on le pose vide sur ses charbons, pour qu'il soit chaud, et son bronze peut brûler, et que sa souillure soit fondue en elle, pour que sa rouille soit consommée.
then will I set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the bottom thereof may burn, and that the impurity of it may be molten in it, that the filth of it may be consumed.
12 Elle est fatiguée par le labeur; pourtant sa grande rouille, la rouille par le feu, ne la quitte pas.
It hath wearied itself with toil; yet its great filth goeth not forth out of it, yea, its noisome filth.
13 "''Dans votre souillure, il y a de la débauche. Parce que je t'ai purifié et que tu n'as pas été purifié, tu ne seras plus purifié de ta souillure, jusqu'à ce que j'aie fait cesser ma colère contre toi.
Because of thy filthy lewdness, because I have purged thee and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have satisfied My fury upon thee.
14 "''Moi, Yahvé, je l'ai dit. Cela arrivera, et je le ferai. Je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Je n'épargnerai pas. Je ne me repentirai pas. Selon vos voies et selon vos actes, on vous jugera, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.''"
I the LORD have spoken it; it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.'
15 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:
Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
16 « Fils d'homme, voici que je vais t'ôter d'un seul coup le désir de tes yeux; mais tu ne te lamenteras pas, tu ne pleureras pas, et tes larmes ne couleront pas.
'Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke; yet neither shalt thou make lamentation nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
17 Soupirez, mais pas à haute voix. Ne portez pas le deuil des morts. Attache ta coiffe sur toi, et mets tes sandales à tes pieds. Ne couvre pas tes lèvres, et ne mange pas de pain de deuil. »
Sigh in silence; make no mourning for the dead, bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thine upper lip, and eat not the bread of men.'
18 J'ai donc parlé au peuple le matin, et le soir ma femme est morte. J'ai donc fait le matin ce qu'on m'avait ordonné.
So I spoke unto the people in the morning, and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
19 Le peuple me demanda: « Ne vas-tu pas nous dire ce que cela signifie pour nous, que tu agisses ainsi? »
And the people said unto me: 'Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?'
20 Puis je leur dis: « La parole de Yahvé m'a été adressée en ces termes:
Then I said unto them: 'The word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
21 Parle à la maison d'Israël: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: 'Voici que je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, l'orgueil de ta puissance, le désir de tes yeux et ce qui fait la joie de ton âme, et tes fils et tes filles que tu as laissés tomber par l'épée.
Speak unto the house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the longing of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.
22 Tu feras comme moi. Vous ne couvrirez pas vos lèvres et ne mangerez pas de pain de deuil.
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your upper lips, nor eat the bread of men;
23 Vos turbans seront sur vos têtes, et vos sandales à vos pieds. Vous ne vous lamenterez pas, vous ne pleurerez pas, mais vous vous morfondrez dans vos iniquités, et vous gémirez les uns sur les autres.
and your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet; ye shall not make lamentation nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.
24 Ainsi, Ézéchiel sera pour vous un signe; vous ferez tout ce qu'il a fait. Quand cela sera arrivé, alors vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Yahvé.'"""
Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do; when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord GOD.
25 « Toi, fils d'homme, n'est-ce pas au jour où je leur enlèverai leur force, la joie de leur gloire, le désir de leurs yeux, et ce sur quoi ils ont jeté leur dévolu - leurs fils et leurs filles -
And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the yearning of their soul, their sons and their daughters,
26 qu'en ce jour-là, celui qui échappe viendra à toi, pour que tu l'entendes de tes oreilles?
that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
27 En ce jour-là, ta bouche s'ouvrira à celui qui s'échappe, tu parleras et tu ne seras plus muet. Tu seras pour eux un signe. Ils sauront alors que je suis Yahvé. »
In that day shall thy mouth be opened together with him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb; so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.'
