Ézéchiel 22
1 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
2 Toi, fils de l'homme, jugeras-tu? Vas-tu juger la ville sanglante? Alors fais-lui connaître toutes ses abominations.
“You human, are you ready to condemn the people of Jerusalem? It is [RHQ] a city full of murderers [MTY]. Remind them of all the detestable things that they have done.
3 Tu diras: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Ville qui verse le sang en son sein, pour que son heure vienne, et qui se fait des idoles pour se souiller!
[Then] say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: By your murdering people and by (defiling yourselves/making yourselves unacceptable to God) by making idols, you people of this city [APO] have brought to yourselves the time when you [will be destroyed].
4 Tu t'es rendue coupable par le sang que tu as versé, et tu t'es souillée par les idoles que tu as faites! Tu as fait approcher tes jours, et tu es arrivée au terme de tes années. C'est pourquoi j'ai fait de toi un objet d'opprobre pour les nations, un objet de moquerie pour tous les pays.
You have become guilty by doing both of those things [DOU]. You have brought to an end your time [to remain alive] [DOU]. Therefore I will cause you to become a group whom the [people of other] nations will scorn; they will all laugh at you [DOU].
5 Ceux qui sont près de toi et ceux qui sont loin de toi se moqueront de toi, infâme, plein de tumulte.
People in countries that are near you and people who live far from you will make fun of you, because your city is full of lawless people and full of confusion.
6 "« Voici, les princes d'Israël, chacun selon sa puissance, ont été chez toi pour verser le sang.
Think about how each of your Israeli kings have used their power to cause people to be murdered [MTY].
7 Ils ont méprisé chez toi le père et la mère. Au milieu de toi, ils ont opprimé l'étranger. Chez toi, on a fait tort à l'orphelin et à la veuve.
Your people do not respect/honor their parents; they have oppressed foreigners; they mistreat orphans and widows.
8 Vous avez méprisé mes sanctuaires, Vous avez profané mes sabbats.
You despise my sacred places and (dishonor/do not respect) the Sabbath days.
9 Il y a eu chez toi des calomniateurs pour répandre le sang. Ils ont mangé chez vous sur les montagnes. Ils se sont livrés à l'impudicité au milieu de toi.
Among you are men who tell lies in order to cause others to be executed [MTY]. There are those who [food offered to idols] at the hilltop [shrines], and they perform disgusting sexual acts.
10 C'est chez toi qu'ils ont découvert la nudité de leurs pères, Et qu'ils ont humilié celle qui était dans l'ombre. Chez toi, on a humilié celle qui était impure dans son impureté.
There are men who have sex with their father’s wives [EUP], and men who have sex with women during their monthly menstrual periods.
11 L'un a commis une abomination avec la femme de son prochain, et l'autre a souillé sa belle-fille. Un autre, parmi vous, a humilié sa sœur, la fille de son père.
There are men who have sex with someone else’s wife. Some men have sex with their daughters-in-law or with their sisters or half-sisters.
12 Chez toi, on a accepté des pots-de-vin pour verser le sang. Tu as pris des intérêts et de l'argent, tu t'es enrichi par l'oppression de ton prochain, et tu m'as oublié, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
There are among you men who accept bribes in order to cause someone to be executed [MTY]. You charge high interest when you lend people money. You become rich by forcing people to give you money. [the worst thing is that] you have forgotten me, Yahweh the Lord.
13 "« Voici, j'ai frappé ma main sur le gain malhonnête que tu as fait, et sur le sang qui a été versé au milieu de toi.
So I will shake my fists at you to show that I am angry with you because of your stealing money from people and murdering [MTY] people who live among you.
14 Ton cœur pourra-t-il résister, et tes mains seront-elles fortes, dans les jours où je traiterai avec toi? Moi, Yahvé, je l'ai dit, et je le ferai.
When I [punishing] you, you will no longer [RHQ] be courageous/brave [DOU]. I, Yahweh, have said [what I will do to you], and I will do it.
15 Je vous disperserai parmi les nations, je vous disperserai dans les pays. Je purgerai de vous vos souillures.
I will cause you to be scattered among many nations [DOU], and I will cause you to stop your sinful behavior.
16 Vous serez profanés en vous-même, aux yeux des nations. Alors vous saurez que je suis Yahvé. »'"
When [the people of other] nations see that you have been humiliated, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
17 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
Yahweh [also] said to me,
18 « Fils d'homme, la maison d'Israël est devenue pour moi une scorie. Ils sont tous comme le bronze, l'étain, le fer et le plomb au milieu de la fournaise. Ils sont les scories de l'argent.
“You human, your Israeli people [MTY] have [useless] to me. They are [like] [MET] dross/slag to me. They are like [SIM] [worthless] copper, tin, iron, and lead that remains after silver is melted in [very hot] furnace.
19 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Parce que vous êtes tous devenus des déchets, voici que je vais vous rassembler au milieu de Jérusalem.
Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: Because you have all become [like] dross/slag, I will gather you in Jerusalem.
20 Comme on rassemble l'argent, le bronze, le fer, le plomb et l'étain au milieu de la fournaise, pour y souffler le feu et les faire fondre, ainsi je vous rassemblerai dans ma colère et dans ma fureur, je vous déposerai là et je vous ferai fondre.
People [ore containing] silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin in a [very hot] furnace and melt them in a blazing [to burn up the impurities]. Similarly [SIM], I will gather you [inside Jerusalem], and because I am very angry with you, [what I will do will be as though] I am melting you.
21 Oui, je vous rassemblerai, et je soufflerai sur vous avec le feu de ma colère, et vous serez fondus au milieu d'elle.
[It will be as though] I will blow on you with a hot breath that shows that I am very angry, [it will be as though] you will be melted,
22 Comme l'argent se fond au milieu de la fournaise, ainsi vous serez fondus au milieu de celle-ci; et vous saurez que moi, Yahvé, j'ai déversé sur vous ma colère.'"
as though you will be melted like [SIM] silver is melted in a furnace, and then you will know that I, Yahweh, have poured out my punishment [MTY] on you.”
23 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
24 « Fils d'homme, dis-lui: « Tu es un pays qui n'est pas purifié et sur lequel il ne pleut pas au jour de la colère ».
“You human, say to the Israeli people, ‘[Yahweh] is angry with you, there has been no rain or showers in your country.’
25 Il y a en elle une conspiration de ses prophètes, comme un lion rugissant qui dévore une proie. Ils dévorent les âmes. Ils s'emparent des trésors et des objets précieux. Ils y ont fait beaucoup de veuves.
Your leaders are like [SIM] lions that tear apart the animals that they have killed. Your leaders destroy their people. They steal treasures and [other] valuable things from people, and they cause many women to become [by murdering their husbands].
26 Ses prêtres ont violé ma loi et profané mes choses saintes. Ils n'ont pas fait la différence entre ce qui est saint et ce qui est commun, ils n'ont pas fait discerner ce qui est impur et ce qui est pur, et ils ont caché leurs yeux de mes sabbats. C'est ainsi que je suis profané au milieu d'eux.
Their priests disobey my laws and disrespect my sacred things by saying that there is no difference between things that are sacred and those that are not sacred, and by ignoring my laws about honoring the Sabbath days. As a result, they no [longer] honor me.
27 Ses princes sont au dedans comme des loups qui dévorent leur proie, pour répandre le sang et détruire les âmes, afin d'en tirer un gain malhonnête.
Their officials are like [SIM] wolves that tear apart the animals that they have killed: They murder people [DOU] in order to get their money.
28 Ses prophètes les ont enduits de chaux, ils ont eu de fausses visions, ils leur ont fait des prédictions mensongères, ils ont dit: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit », alors que Yahvé n'a pas parlé.
Their prophets, by falsely saying they have received [from God], and by giving false messages, try to (cover up [MET]/say that it is all right to commit) those sins. They say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ when I have said nothing to them.
29 Les habitants du pays ont usé de l'oppression et exercé le brigandage. Oui, ils ont troublé le pauvre et l'indigent, et ils ont opprimé l'étranger à tort.
The Israeli people force others to give them money, and they rob people. They oppress poor [DOU] people, and they mistreat foreigners among them by not treating them [in the courts].
30 « J'ai cherché parmi eux un homme qui bâtirait la muraille et se tiendrait dans la brèche devant moi pour le pays, afin que je ne le détruise pas; mais je n'ai trouvé personne.
I looked among them to find a man who would cause the people of the city to repent [MET] so that I would not need to get rid of them. But I did not find anyone.
31 C'est pourquoij'ai répandu sur eux ma fureur. Je les ai consumés par le feu de ma colère. Je fais retomber sur leur tête leur propre voie, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
So because I am very angry with them, I will severely punish them [MTY] for [all] the wicked things that they have done. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh the Lord, have said it.”
