Ézéchiel 14
1 Alors quelques-uns des anciens d'Israël vinrent à moi et s'assirent devant moi.
And men from [the] elderly of Israel come to me, and sit before me.
2 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
3 « Fils d'homme, ces hommes ont pris leurs idoles dans leur cœur, et ils ont mis devant eux la pierre d'achoppement de leur iniquité. Faut-il que je sois interrogé par eux?
“Son of man, these men have caused their idols to go up on their heart, and they have put the stumbling-block of their iniquity before their faces; am I inquired of at all by them?
4 Parle-leur donc et dis-leur: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Tout homme de la maison d'Israël qui prendra ses idoles dans son cœur et mettra la pierre d'achoppement de son iniquité devant sa face, et qui s'adressera au prophète, moi, Yahvé, je lui répondrai là selon la multitude de ses idoles,
Therefore, speak with them, and you have said to them, Thus said Lord YHWH: Everyone of the house of Israel who causes his idols to go up to his heart, and sets the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and has gone to the prophet—I, YHWH, have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,
5 afin que je prenne la maison d'Israël dans son propre cœur, car ils se sont tous éloignés de moi par leurs idoles ».
in order to catch the house of Israel by their heart, in that they have become estranged from off Me by their idols—all of them.
6 « C'est pourquoi vous direz à la maison d'Israël: « Le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Revenez et détournez-vous de vos idoles! Détournez vos visages de toutes vos abominations.
Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus said Lord YHWH: Turn back, indeed, turn back from your idols, and turn back your faces from all your abominations,
7 "''Car quiconque, de la maison d'Israël ou des étrangers qui habitent en Israël, se sépare de moi, prend ses idoles dans son cœur et met devant sa face la pierre d'achoppement de son iniquité, et vient trouver le prophète pour s'enquérir de moi, moi, Yahvé, je lui répondrai par moi-même.
for everyone of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and causes his idols to go up to his heart, and sets the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and has come to the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, YHWH, have answered him for Myself;
8 Je tournerai ma face contre cet homme et j'en ferai un objet de désolation, un signe et un proverbe, et je le retrancherai du milieu de mon peuple. Alors vous saurez que je suis Yahvé.
and I have set My face against that man, and made him for a sign, and for allegories, and I have cut him off from the midst of My people, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.
9 "''Si le prophète est trompé et qu'il prononce une parole, moi, Yahvé, j'ai trompé ce prophète, j'étendrai ma main sur lui et je le ferai périr du milieu de mon peuple d'Israël.
And the prophet, when he is enticed, and has spoken a word—I, YHWH, have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel.
10 Ils porteront leur iniquité. L'iniquité du prophète sera comme l'iniquité de celui qui le cherche,
And they have borne their iniquity: as the iniquity of the inquirer, so is the iniquity of the prophet;
11 afin que la maison d'Israël ne s'éloigne plus de moi et ne se souille plus par toutes ses transgressions, mais qu'elle soit mon peuple et que je sois son Dieu, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.'"
so that the house of Israel does not wander from after Me anymore, nor are they defiled with all their transgressions anymore, and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God—a declaration of Lord YHWH.”
12 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée, en ces termes:
And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
13 « Fils d'homme, quand un pays péchera contre moi en commettant une infidélité, et que j'étendrai ma main sur lui, que je briserai le bâton de son pain, que j'enverrai la famine sur lui, et que j'en exterminerai les hommes et les bêtes -
“Son of man, when the land sins against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken the staff of bread for it, and sent famine into it, and cut off man and beast from it—
14 si ces trois hommes, Noé, Daniel et Job, s'y trouvaient, ils ne sauveraient que leur propre âme par leur justice », dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
and [despite] these three men [that] have been in its midst: Noah, Daniel, and Job—they [only] deliver their own soul by their righteousness,” a declaration of Lord YHWH.
15 « Si je fais passer des bêtes féroces dans le pays, et qu'elles le ravagent, et qu'il devienne désert, de sorte que personne ne puisse y passer à cause des bêtes -
“If I cause an evil beast to pass through the land, and it has bereaved, and it has been a desolation, without any passing through because of the beast—
16 si ces trois hommes y étaient, je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur Yahvé, ils ne délivreraient ni fils ni filles. Eux seuls seraient délivrés, mais le pays serait dévasté.
[despite] these three men in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they deliver neither sons nor daughters; they alone are delivered, and the land is a desolation.
17 « Ou bien, si je fais venir l'épée sur ce pays, et que je dise: Epée, passe par le pays, et que j'en extermine les hommes et les bêtes,
Or [if] I bring a sword in against that land, and I have said: Sword, pass over through the land, and I have cut off man and beast from it—
18 si ces trois hommes y étaient, je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur Yahvé, ils ne délivreraient ni fils ni filles, mais ils seraient délivrés eux-mêmes.
and [despite] these three men in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they do not deliver sons and daughters, for they alone are delivered.
19 « Si j'envoie la peste dans ce pays, et que je répande sur lui ma fureur dans le sang, pour en exterminer l'homme et l'animal -
Or [if] I send pestilence to that land, and I have poured out My fury against it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it—
20 quand Noé, Daniel et Job y seraient, je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur Yahvé, ils ne sauveraient ni fils ni fille, ils ne sauveraient que leur propre âme par leur justice. »
and [despite] Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they deliver neither son nor daughter; they, by their righteousness, [only] deliver their own soul.”
21 Car le Seigneur Yahvé dit: « Combien plus quand j'enverrai mes quatre jugements sévères sur Jérusalem - l'épée, la famine, les bêtes malfaisantes et la peste - pour en exterminer l'homme et l'animal!
For thus said Lord YHWH: “Although My four severe judgments—sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence—I have sent to Jerusalem, to cut off man and beast from it,
22 Mais voici, il restera en elle un reste qui sera emporté, des fils et des filles. Voici qu'ils sortiront vers toi, et tu verras leur conduite et leurs actes. Alors tu seras consolé du mal que j'ai fait venir sur Jérusalem, de tout ce que j'ai fait venir sur elle.
yet, behold, there has been left an escape in it, who are brought forth, sons and daughters, behold, they are coming forth to you, and you have seen their way, and their doings, and have been comforted concerning the calamity that I have brought in against Jerusalem, all that which I have brought in against it.
23 Ils te consoleront, quand tu verras leur conduite et leurs actes; alors tu sauras que je n'ai pas fait sans raison tout ce que j'ai fait en elle, dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
And they have comforted you, for you see their way and their doings, and you have known that I have not done all that which I have done in her for nothing,” a declaration of Lord YHWH.
