Exode 20
1 Dieu prononça toutes ces paroles, en disant:
And the Lord spak alle these wordis, Y am thi Lord God,
2 « Je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui t'ai fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, de la maison de servitude.
that ladde thee out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hous of seruage.
3 « Tu n'auras pas d'autres dieux devant moi.
Thou schalt not haue alien goddis bifore me.
4 « Tu ne te feras pas d'idole, ni d'image de ce qui est dans les cieux en haut, sur la terre en bas, ou dans les eaux au-dessous de la terre;
Thou schalt not make to thee a grauun ymage, nethir ony licnesse of thing which is in heuene aboue, and which is in erthe bynethe, nether of tho thingis, that ben in watris vndur erthe; thou schalt not `herie tho,
5 tu ne te prosterneras pas devant elles et tu ne les serviras pas, car moi, Yahvé ton Dieu, je suis un Dieu jaloux, qui punit l'iniquité des pères sur les enfants, sur la troisième et la quatrième génération de ceux qui me haïssent,
nether `thou schalt worschipe; for Y am thi Lord God, a stronge gelouse louyere; and Y visite the wickidnesse of fadris in to the thridde and the fourthe generacioun of hem that haten me,
6 et qui fait preuve de bonté envers les milliers de ceux qui m'aiment et qui gardent mes commandements.
and Y do mercy in to `a thousynde, to hem that louen me, and kepen myn heestis.
7 « Tu n'abuseras pas du nom de Yahvé ton Dieu, car Yahvé ne laisse pas impuni celui qui abuse de son nom.
Thou schalt not take in veyn the name of thi Lord God, for the Lord schal not haue hym giltles, that takith in veyn the name of his Lord God.
8 « Souviens-toi du jour du sabbat, pour le sanctifier.
Haue thou mynde, that thou halowe the `dai of the sabat;
9 Tu travailleras six jours et tu feras tout ton ouvrage,
in sixe daies thou schalt worche and schalt do alle thi werkis;
10 mais le septième jour est un sabbat pour Yahvé, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras aucun ouvrage, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni ton bétail, ni l'étranger qui sera dans tes portes.
forsothe in the seuenthe day is the sabat of thi Lord God; thou schalt not do ony werk, thou, and thi sone, and thi douytir, and thi seruaunt, and thin handmaide, thi werk beeste, and the comelyng which is withynne thi yatis;
11 Car en six jours, Yahvé a fait le ciel et la terre, la mer et tout ce qui s'y trouve, et il s'est reposé le septième jour.
for in sixe dayes God made heuene and erthe, the see, and alle thingis that ben in tho, and restide in the seuenthe dai; herfor the Lord blesside the `dai of the sabat, and halewide it.
12 « Honore ton père et ta mère, afin que tes jours se prolongent dans le pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne.
Onoure thi fadir and thi moder, that thou be long lyuyng on the lond, which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee.
13 « Tu ne commettras pas de meurtre.
Thou schalt not sle.
14 « Tu ne commettras pas d'adultère.
Thou schalt `do no letcherie.
15 « Tu ne voleras pas.
Thou schalt `do no theft.
16 « Tu ne porteras pas de faux témoignage contre ton prochain.
Thou schalt not speke fals witnessyng ayens thi neiybore.
17 « Tu ne convoiteras pas la maison de ton prochain. Tu ne convoiteras pas la femme de ton prochain, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son bœuf, ni son âne, ni rien de ce qui appartient à ton prochain. »
Thou schalt not coueyte `the hous of thi neiybore, nether thou schalt desyre his wijf, not seruaunt, not handmaide, not oxe, not asse, nether alle thingis that ben hise.
18 Tout le peuple perçut les tonnerres, les éclairs, le son de la trompette et la montagne fumante. Quand le peuple vit cela, il trembla et resta à distance.
Forsothe al the puple herde voices, and siy laumpis, and the sowne of a clarioun, and the hil smokynge; and thei weren afeerd, and schakun with inward drede, and stoden afer,
19 Ils dirent à Moïse: « Parle-nous toi-même, et nous écouterons; mais ne laisse pas Dieu nous parler, de peur que nous ne mourions. »
and seiden to Moises, Speke thou to vs, and we schulen here; the Lord speke not to vs, lest perauenture we dien.
20 Moïse dit au peuple: « N'ayez pas peur, car Dieu est venu pour vous mettre à l'épreuve, et pour que sa crainte soit devant vous, afin que vous ne péchiez pas. »
And Moises seide to the puple, Nyle ye drede, for God cam to proue you, and that his drede schulde be in you, and that ye schulden not do synne.
21 Le peuple resta à distance, et Moïse s'approcha de l'épaisse obscurité où se trouvait Dieu.
And the puple stood afer; forsothe Moises neiyede to the derknesse, wherynne God was.
22 Yahvé dit à Moïse: « Voici ce que tu diras aux enfants d'Israël: « Vous avez vu vous-mêmes que je vous ai parlé depuis le ciel.
And the Lord seide ferthermore to Moises, Thou schalt seie these thingis to the sones of Israel, Ye seiyen that fro heuene Y spak to you;
23 Vous ne vous ferez certainement pas des dieux d'argent ou des dieux d'or pour être à côté de moi.
ye schulen not make goddis of silver, nethir ye schulen make to you goddis of gold.
24 Vous me ferez un autel de terre, et vous y sacrifierez vos holocaustes et vos sacrifices de prospérité, vos brebis et vos bœufs. En tout lieu où j'inscrirai mon nom, je viendrai vers vous et je vous bénirai.
Ye schulen make an auter of erthe to me, and ye schulen offre theronne youre brent sacrifices, and pesible sacrifices, youre scheep, and oxun, in ech place in which the mynde of my name schal be; Y schal come to thee, and Y schal blesse thee.
25 Si tu me fais un autel de pierre, tu ne le construiras pas en pierres taillées, car si tu lèves ton outil dessus, tu le souilles.
That if thou schalt make an auter of stoon to me, thou schalt not bilde it of stoonys hewun; for if thou schalt reise thi knyif theronne, it schal be `polluted, ether defoulid.
26 Tu ne monteras pas par des marches vers mon autel, afin que ta nudité n'y soit pas exposée'.
Thou schalt not stye bi grees to myn auter, lest thi filthe be schewid.
