Deutéronome 27

1 Moïse et les anciens d'Israël donnèrent cet ordre au peuple: « Observez tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui.

Moses/I, along with the other Israeli leaders, said this to the people: “Obey all the commandments that I am giving to you today.

2 Le jour où vous passerez le Jourdain pour entrer dans le pays que l'Éternel, votre Dieu, vous donne, vous dresserez de grandes pierres et vous les enduirez de plâtre.

[Soon] you will cross the Jordan [River] and enter the land that Yahweh, the God whom our ancestors [worshiped], promised to give to you. There, in that very fertile [IDM] land on the [west] side of the Jordan [River], set up some large stones [on Ebal Mountain], and cover them with plaster. Then write on those stones all these laws and teachings/instructions.

3 Tu écriras sur elles toutes les paroles de cette loi, quand tu auras passé le Jourdain, pour entrer dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel, comme te l'a promis l'Éternel, le Dieu de tes pères.

4 Lorsque tu auras passé le Jourdain, tu dresseras sur le mont Ebal ces pierres que je te commande aujourd'hui, et tu les enduiras de plâtre.

5 Tu y bâtiras un autel à Yahvé ton Dieu, un autel de pierres. Tu n'y emploieras pas d'outil en fer.

And build a stone altar there to offer sacrifices to Yahweh, but do not cut those stones with iron tools.

6 Tu bâtiras l'autel de Yahvé, ton Dieu, avec des pierres non taillées. Tu y offriras des holocaustes à l'Éternel, ton Dieu.

The altar that you make to burn sacrifices to Yahweh our God must be made with uncut stones.

7 Tu y sacrifieras des sacrifices de prospérité et tu y mangeras. Tu te réjouiras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu.

And there you must sacrifice offerings to maintain fellowship with Yahweh, and you must eat [your share of those offerings] and rejoice/celebrate in the presence of Yahweh.

8 Tu écriras sur les pierres toutes les paroles de cette loi, très clairement. »

And, when you write these laws on those stones, you must write them very clearly.”

9 Moïse et les prêtres lévitiques parlèrent à tout Israël en disant: « Tais-toi et écoute, Israël! Aujourd'hui, tu es devenu le peuple de l'Éternel, ton Dieu.

Then Moses/I, along with the priests, said to all the Israeli people, “You Israeli people, be quiet and listen [to what I am saying]. Today you have become the people who belong to Yahweh, our God.

10 Tu obéiras donc à la voix de Yahvé ton Dieu, et tu mettras en pratique ses commandements et ses lois, que je te prescris aujourd'hui. »

So, you must do what he tells you, and obey all the rules and regulations that I am giving to you today.”

11 Le même jour, Moïse donna cet ordre au peuple:

On that same day Moses/I said to the Israeli people,

12 « Voici ceux qui se tiendront sur le mont Garizim pour bénir le peuple, lorsque vous aurez franchi le Jourdain: Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, Joseph et Benjamin.

“After you have crossed over the Jordan [River], the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin must stand on Gerizim Mountain and [request Yahweh to] bless the people.

13 Ceux-là se tiendront sur le mont Ebal pour la malédiction: Ruben, Gad, Aser, Zabulon, Dan et Nephtali.

And the tribes of Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali must stand on Ebal Mountain and listen to the things that Yahweh will do when he curses the people.

14 Les Lévites diront d'une voix forte à tous les hommes d'Israël:

The descendants of Levi must shout these words loudly:

15 « Maudit est l'homme qui fait une image gravée ou fondue, une abomination pour Yahvé, l'œuvre des mains de l'artisan, et qui la place dans le secret ». Tout le peuple répondra et dira: « Amen.

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who makes an idol of stone, or of wood, or of metal, and secretly sets it up [and worships it]. Yahweh considers that those things, made by humans [SYN], are detestable/disgusting.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

16 « Maudit soit celui qui déshonore son père ou sa mère ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who dishonors his father or his mother.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

17 « Maudit soit celui qui enlève le repère de son prochain ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who removes someone else’s markers of property boundaries.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

18 « Maudit soit celui qui égare l'aveugle sur la route ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who leads a blind person to go (in the wrong direction/where that person does not want to go).’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

19 « Maudit soit celui qui refuse de rendre justice à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who deprives foreigners or orphans or widows of the things that the laws state must be done for them.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

20 « Maudit soit celui qui couche avec la femme de son père, car il déshonore la couche de son père ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who (shows no respect for/disgraces his father) by having sex with [EUP] any of his father’s wives.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

21 « Maudit soit celui qui couche avec n'importe quelle espèce d'animal ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex [EUP] with any animal.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

22 « Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa sœur, la fille de son père ou la fille de sa mère ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with his sister or with his half-sister.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

23 « Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa belle-mère ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with [EUP] his mother-in-law.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

24 « Maudit soit celui qui tue secrètement son prochain ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who secretly murders someone else.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

25 « Maudit soit celui qui accepte un pot-de-vin pour tuer un innocent ». Tout le peuple dira « Amen ».

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who accepts a bribe to murder someone who (is innocent/has not done something that is wrong.)’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’

26 « Maudit soit celui qui ne respecte pas les paroles de cette loi en les mettant en pratique. Tout le peuple dira 'Amen'. »

‘Yahweh will curse anyone who disobeys these laws and refuses to declare that these laws [are good].’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’”
