Deutéronome 26
1 Lorsque tu seras entré dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage, que tu le posséderas et que tu y habiteras,
“And when you will have entered into the land which the Lord your God will give to you to possess, and when you will have obtained it and are living within it:
2 tu prendras une partie des premiers fruits du sol que tu apporteras du pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne. Tu les mettras dans une corbeille, et tu iras au lieu que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, choisira pour y faire résider son nom.
you shall take the first of all your crops, and place them in a basket, and you shall travel to the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be invoked there.
3 Tu iras vers le prêtre qui sera en ces jours-là, et tu lui diras: « Je fais aujourd'hui la profession de foi à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, que je suis arrivé dans le pays que l'Éternel a juré à nos pères de nous donner. »
And you shall approach the priest who will be in those days, and you shall say to him: ‘I profess this day, before the Lord your God, that I have entered into the land about which he swore to our fathers that he would give it to us.’
4 Le prêtre prendra la corbeille de ta main et la déposera devant l'autel de l'Yahvé ton Dieu.
And the priest, taking up the basket from your hand, shall place it before the altar of the Lord your God.
5 Tu répondras et tu diras devant Yahvé ton Dieu: « Mon père était un Syrien prêt à périr. Il est descendu en Égypte et y a vécu en petit nombre. Là, il devint une nation grande, puissante et nombreuse.
And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘The Syrian pursued my father, who descended into Egypt, and he sojourned there in a very small number, and he increased into a great and strong nation and into an innumerable multitude.
6 Les Égyptiens nous ont maltraités, nous ont fait souffrir et nous ont imposé des travaux forcés.
And the Egyptians afflicted us, and they persecuted us, imposing upon us the most grievous burdens.
7 Alors nous criâmes à Yahvé, le Dieu de nos pères. L'Éternel a entendu notre voix, il a vu notre souffrance, notre travail et notre oppression.
And we cried out to the Lord, the God of our fathers. He heard us, and he looked with favor upon our humiliation, and hardship, and distress.
8 L'Éternel nous a fait sortir d'Égypte à main forte, à bras étendu, avec une grande terreur, avec des signes et des prodiges;
And he led us away from Egypt, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with a mighty terror, with signs and wonders.
9 il nous a conduits dans ce lieu, et il nous a donné ce pays, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
And he led us into this place, and he delivered to us the land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Maintenant, voici, j'ai apporté les prémices des fruits du sol que tu m'as donnés, Yahvé. » Tu la déposeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, et tu te prosterneras devant Yahvé ton Dieu.
And because of this, I now offer the first fruits of the land which the Lord has given to me.’ And you shall leave them in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall adore the Lord your God.
11 Tu te réjouiras de tous les biens que Yahvé ton Dieu t'a donnés, à toi et à ta maison, toi, le Lévite et l'étranger qui est au milieu de toi.
And you shall feast on all the good things which the Lord your God will give to you and to your house: you, and the Levite, and the new arrival who is with you.
12 Lorsque tu auras fini de lever toute la dîme de ton revenu la troisième année, qui est l'année de la dîme, tu la donneras au lévite, à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve, afin qu'ils puissent manger dans tes portes et se rassasier.
When you will have completed the tithing of all your crops, in the third year of tithes, you shall give it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan, and to the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be satisfied.
13 Tu diras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu: « J'ai ôté de ma maison les choses saintes, et je les ai données au Lévite, à l'étranger, à l'orphelin et à la veuve, selon tous les commandements que tu m'as donnés. Je n'ai transgressé aucun de tes commandements et je ne les ai pas oubliés.
And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘I have taken what was sanctified from my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan and the widow, just as you have commanded me. I have not transgressed your commandments, nor have I forgotten your precepts.
14 Je n'en ai pas mangé pendant mon deuil, je n'en ai rien enlevé pendant mon impureté, et je n'en ai pas donné pour les morts. J'ai écouté la voix de l'Éternel, mon Dieu. J'ai fait tout ce que tu m'as ordonné.
I have not eaten from these things in my grief, nor have I separated them due to any kind of uncleanness, nor have I expended any of these things in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and I have done all things just as you have instructed me.
15 Regarde du haut de ta demeure sainte, des cieux, et bénis ton peuple d'Israël et le sol que tu nous as donné, comme tu l'as juré à nos pères, un pays où coulent le lait et le miel. »
Look with favor from your sanctuary and from your lofty habitation amid the heavens, and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given to us, just as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’
16 Aujourd'hui, Yahvé ton Dieu te commande de mettre en pratique ces lois et ces ordonnances. Tu les garderas donc et tu les mettras en pratique de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme.
Today the Lord your God has instructed you to carry out these commandments and judgments, and to keep and fulfill them, with all your heart and with all your soul.
17 Tu as déclaré aujourd'hui que l'Éternel est ton Dieu, que tu marcherais dans ses voies, que tu observerais ses lois, ses commandements et ses ordonnances, et que tu écouterais sa voix.
Today, you have chosen the Lord to be your God, so that you may walk in his ways, and keep his ceremonies and commandments and judgments, and obey his command.
18 L'Éternel a déclaré aujourd'hui que tu es un peuple qui lui appartient, comme il te l'a promis, et que tu dois observer tous ses commandements.
Today, the Lord has chosen you, so that you may be his particular people, just as he has spoken to you, and so that you may keep all his precepts,
19 Il t'élèvera au-dessus de toutes les nations qu'il a faites, en louange, en nom et en honneur, et tu seras un peuple saint pour l'Éternel, ton Dieu, comme il l'a dit.
and so that he may cause you to be more exalted than all the nations which he has created, for the sake of his own praise and name and glory, in order that you may be a holy people for the Lord your God, just as he has spoken.”
