Deutéronome 18
1 Les prêtres et les lévites - toute la tribu de Lévi - n'auront ni part ni héritage avec Israël. Ils mangeront les offrandes consumées par le feu de l'Éternel et sa part.
“There is not for the priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—a portion and inheritance with Israel; they eat fire-offerings of YHWH, even His inheritance,
2 Ils n'auront pas d'héritage parmi leurs frères. C'est Yahvé qui est leur héritage, comme il le leur a dit.
and he has no inheritance in the midst of his brothers; YHWH Himself [is] his inheritance, as He has spoken to him.
3 Voici ce que les prêtres recevront du peuple, de ceux qui offrent un sacrifice, qu'il s'agisse d'un bœuf ou d'un mouton, et qu'ils donneront au prêtre: l'épaule, les deux joues et les parties intérieures.
And this is the priest’s right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he has even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach;
4 Tu lui donneras les prémices de ton blé, de ton vin nouveau et de ton huile, et les premières toisons de tes brebis.
you give to him the first of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your flock;
5 Car Yahvé ton Dieu l'a choisi parmi toutes tes tribus pour qu'il se tienne debout et fasse le service au nom de Yahvé, lui et ses fils pour toujours.
for your God YHWH has fixed on him, out of all your tribes, to stand to serve in the Name of YHWH—him and his sons continually.
6 Si un Lévite vient de l'une de vos portes, de tout Israël où il habite, et s'il vient avec tout le désir de son âme au lieu que l'Éternel choisira,
And when the Levite comes from one of your cities, out of all Israel where he has sojourned, and has come with all the desire of his soul to the place which YHWH chooses,
7 il fera le service au nom de l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme tous ses frères les Lévites, qui se tiennent là devant l'Éternel.
then he has ministered in the Name of his God YHWH like all his brothers, the Levites, who are standing there before YHWH.
8 Ils auront des portions identiques à manger, en plus de ce qui provient de la vente des biens de sa famille.
They eat portion like portion, apart from his sold things from the fathers.
9 Lorsque tu seras entré dans le pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne, tu n'apprendras pas à imiter les abominations de ces nations.
When you are coming into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you, you do not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
10 Il ne se trouvera pas chez toi quelqu'un qui fasse passer son fils ou sa fille par le feu, quelqu'un qui pratique la divination, quelqu'un qui dise la bonne aventure, ou un enchanteur, ou un magicien,
There is not found in you one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer,
11 ou un charmeur, ou quelqu'un qui consulte un esprit familier, ou un magicien, ou un nécromancien.
and a charmer, and one inquiring from a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking to the dead.
12 Car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à Yahvé. A cause de ces abominations, Yahvé ton Dieu les chasse de devant toi.
For everyone doing these [is] an abomination [to] YHWH, and because of these abominations your God YHWH is dispossessing them from your presence.
13 Tu seras irréprochable devant Yahvé ton Dieu.
You must be perfect with your God YHWH,
14 Car ces nations que tu vas déposséder écoutent ceux qui pratiquent la sorcellerie et les devins; mais toi, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, ne te permet pas de le faire.
for these nations whom you are possessing listen to observers of clouds and to diviners; but you—your God YHWH has not permitted you so.
15 L'Éternel, ton Dieu, te suscitera un prophète du milieu de toi, parmi tes frères, comme moi. Tu l'écouteras.
Your God YHWH raises up for you a Prophet like me out of your midst, out of your brothers—you must listen to Him,
16 Ceci est conforme à tout ce que tu as demandé à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, à Horeb, le jour de l'assemblée, en disant: « Que je n'entende plus la voix de l'Éternel, mon Dieu, et que je ne voie plus ce grand feu, afin que je ne meure pas. »
according to all that you asked from your God YHWH in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Do not let me add to hear the voice of my God YHWH, and do not let me see this great fire anymore, and I do not die;
17 Yahvé me dit: « Ils ont bien dit ce qu'ils ont dit.
and YHWH says to me, They have done well [in] what they have spoken;
18 Je leur susciterai un prophète du milieu de leurs frères, comme toi. Je mettrai mes paroles dans sa bouche, et il leur dira tout ce que je lui commanderai.
I raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers, and I have given My words in His mouth, and He has spoken to them all that which I command Him;
19 Quiconque n'écoutera pas les paroles qu'il prononcera en mon nom, je le lui demanderai.
and it has been [that] the man who does not listen to My words which He speaks in My Name, I require [it] of him.
20 Mais le prophète qui prononcera en mon nom une parole présomptueuse que je ne lui aurai pas ordonné de prononcer, ou qui parlera au nom d'autres dieux, ce même prophète mourra. »
Only, the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, and who speaks in the name of other gods, indeed, that prophet has died.
21 Vous pouvez dire en votre cœur: « Comment connaîtrons-nous la parole que l'Éternel n'a pas prononcée? »
And when you say in your heart, How do we know the word which YHWH has not spoken?
22 Lorsqu'un prophète parle au nom de l'Éternel, si la chose ne suit pas, ni n'arrive, c'est la chose que l'Éternel n'a pas dite. Le prophète a parlé de manière présomptueuse. Vous ne devez pas avoir peur de lui.
That which the prophet speaks in the Name of YHWH, and the thing is not, and does not come—it [is] the word which YHWH has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it in presumption; you are not afraid of him.”
