Deutéronome 10
1 En ce temps-là, Yahvé me dit: « Coupe deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et monte vers moi sur la montagne, et fais une arche de bois.
At that time, said Yahweh unto me—Cut thee out two tables of stone like the first, and come up unto me into the mountain, —and make thee an ark of wood;
2 J'écrirai sur ces tablettes les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tablettes que tu as brisées, et tu les mettras dans l'arche. »
that I may write, upon the tables, the words which were on the first tables which thou brakest in pieces, —then shalt thou put them in the ark.
3 Je fis donc une arche de bois d'acacia, je taillai deux tablettes de pierre comme les premières, et je montai sur la montagne, les deux tablettes à la main.
So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut out two tables of stone like the first, —and went up the mountain, having the two tables in my hand.
4 Il écrivit sur les tables, selon la première écriture, les dix commandements dont Yahvé vous a parlé sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, le jour de l'assemblée; et Yahvé me les donna.
And he wrote upon the tables according to the first writing—the ten words, which Yahweh had spoken unto you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire in the day of the convocation, —and Yahweh delivered them unto me.
5 Je me suis retourné et je suis descendu de la montagne, et j'ai mis les tables dans l'arche que j'avais faite; et elles y sont comme l'Éternel me l'a ordonné.
Then turned I, and came down out of the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, —and they have remained there, as Yahweh commanded me.
6 (Les enfants d'Israël partirent de Beeroth Bene Jaakan pour se rendre à Mosérah. C'est là qu'Aaron mourut et qu'il fut enterré, et son fils Éléazar exerça le sacerdoce à sa place.
And, the sons of Israel, set forward out of Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah, —there, died Aaron and was buried there, and Eleazar his son became priest in his stead.
7 De là, ils partirent pour Gudgoda, et de Gudgoda pour Jotbatha, pays de ruisseaux.
From thence, set they forward unto the Gudgodah, —and from the Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of torrents of water.
8 En ce temps-là, Yahvé mit à part la tribu de Lévi pour porter l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé, pour se tenir devant Yahvé, pour le servir et pour bénir en son nom, jusqu'à ce jour.
At that time, did Yahweh separate the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, —to stand before Yahweh to wait upon him and to bless in his name (until this day).
9 C'est pourquoi Lévi n'a ni part ni héritage avec ses frères; son héritage, c'est Yahvé, selon ce que Yahvé ton Dieu lui a dit).
For this cause, hath Levi neither portion nor inheritance with his brethren, —Yahweh, is his inheritance, as Yahweh thy God spake unto him.
10 Je suis resté sur la montagne, comme la première fois, quarante jours et quarante nuits, et l'Éternel m'a écouté cette fois-là aussi. L'Éternel n'a pas voulu te détruire.
But, I, stayed in the mountain according to the former days, forty days and forty nights, —and Yahweh hearkened unto me at that time also, Yahweh was not willing, to destroy thee.
11 Yahvé me dit: « Lève-toi, pars devant le peuple, et ils entreront en possession du pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner. »
So then Yahweh said unto me, Up with thee—to break away onward, before the people, —that they may enter in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers, to give unto them.
12 Maintenant, Israël, qu'est-ce que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, exige de toi, sinon que tu craignes l'Éternel, ton Dieu, que tu marches dans toutes ses voies, que tu l'aimes et que tu serves l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme,
Now, therefore, O Israel, what is, Yahweh thy God, asking of thee, —but to revere Yahweh thy God to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yahweh thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:
13 en observant les commandements et les lois de l'Éternel, que je te prescris aujourd'hui pour ton bien?
to keep the commandments of Yahweh and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day, —for thy good?
14 Voici, à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, appartiennent le ciel, le ciel des cieux, et la terre, avec tout ce qu'elle contient.
Lo! unto Yahweh thy God, belong the heavens even the highest heavens, —the earth, with all that is therein.
15 Seulement, l'Éternel a pris plaisir à vos pères pour les aimer, et il a choisi leur descendance après eux, même vous par-dessus tous les peuples, comme il en est aujourd'hui.
Only unto thy fathers, Yahweh became attached so as to love them, —therefore made he choice of their seed after them—of you—out of all the peoples, (as at this day).
16 Circoncise donc le prépuce de ton cœur, et ne sois plus un cou rigide.
Therefore must ye circumcise the foreskin of your hearts, —and your necks, must ye stiffen no more.
17 Car Yahvé, ton Dieu, est le Dieu des dieux et le Seigneur des seigneurs, le grand Dieu, le puissant et l'imposant, qui ne respecte pas les personnes et n'accepte pas les pots-de-vin.
For as touching Yahweh your God, he, is God of gods, and Lord of lords; the great the mighty, and the fearful GOD, who respecteth not persons, nor accepteth a bribe;
18 Il fait justice à l'orphelin et à la veuve, et il aime l'étranger en lui donnant nourriture et vêtement.
executing the vindication of the orphan and the widow, —and loving a sojourner, giving him food and raiment.
19 C'est pourquoi, aimez l'étranger, car vous avez été étrangers au pays d'Égypte.
Therefore shall ye love the sojourner, —for sojourners, became ye in the land of Egypt.
20 Tu craindras Yahvé, ton Dieu. Tu le serviras. Tu t'attacheras à lui et tu jureras par son nom.
Yahweh thy God, shalt thou revere, Him, shalt thou serve, —And unto him, shalt thou cleave, And in his name, shalt thou swear.
21 C'est lui qui te loue et c'est lui qui est ton Dieu, qui a fait pour toi ces choses grandes et impressionnantes que tes yeux ont vues.
He, is thy song of praise, And, he, thy God, —who hath done with thee these great and fearful things, which thine own eyes have seen.
22 Tes pères sont descendus en Égypte avec soixante-dix personnes; et maintenant Yahvé ton Dieu t'a rendu comme les étoiles du ciel pour la multitude.
As seventy souls, went thy fathers down to Egypt, —and, now, Yahweh thy God hath made thee like the stars of the heavens for multitude.
