Amos 1
1 Paroles d'Amos, qui était parmi les bergers de Tekoa, et qu'il vit concernant Israël, au temps d'Ozias, roi de Juda, et au temps de Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d'Israël, deux ans avant le tremblement de terre.
The words of 'Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he foresaw concerning Israel in the days of 'Uzziyah the king of Judah, and in the days of Jerobo'am the son of Joash the king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 Il dit: « Yahvé rugira de Sion, et faire entendre sa voix de Jérusalem; et les pâturages des bergers seront en deuil, et le sommet du Carmel se flétrira. »
And he said, The Lord will cry aloud out of Zion, and from Jerusalem will he send forth his voice; and then shall mourn the pastures of the shepherds, and then shall dry up the top of Carmel.
3 Yahvé dit: « Pour trois transgressions de Damas, oui, pour quatre, Je ne détournerai pas son châtiment, car ils ont battu Galaad avec des instruments de fer;
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have threshed [the inhabitants of] Gil'ad with threshing instruments of iron;
4 mais je vais envoyer un feu dans la maison de Hazaël, et il dévorera les palais de Ben Hadad.
And I will send a fire into the house of Chazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
5 Je briserai la barre de Damas, et a exterminé l'habitant de la vallée de l'Aven, et celui qui tient le sceptre de la maison d'Eden; et le peuple de Syrie ira en captivité à Kir, » dit Yahvé.
And I will break the bars of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the valley of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of 'Eden: and the people of Syria shall be exiled unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Yahvé dit: « Pour trois transgressions de Gaza, oui, pour quatre, Je ne détournerai pas son châtiment, car ils ont emmené en captivité toute la communauté, pour les livrer à Edom;
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Gazzah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they carried away exiles in full numbers, to deliver them up to Edom;
7 mais j'enverrai un feu sur le mur de Gaza, et il dévorera ses palais.
And I will send a fire against the wall of Gazzah, which shall devour her palaces;
8 J'exterminerai l'habitant d'Asdod, et celui qui tient le sceptre d'Ashkelon; et je tournerai ma main contre Ekron; et le reste des Philistins périra, » dit le Seigneur Yahvé.
And I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against 'Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord Eternal.
9 Yahvé dit: « Pour trois transgressions de Tyr, oui, pour quatre, Je ne détournerai pas son châtiment; car ils ont livré toute la communauté à Edom, et ne s'est pas souvenu de l'alliance fraternelle;
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they delivered up the exiles in full numbers to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant;
10 mais j'enverrai un feu sur la muraille de Tyr, et il dévorera ses palais. »
And I will send a fire against the walls of Tyre, which shall devour her palaces.
11 Yahvé dit: « Pour trois transgressions d'Edom, oui, pour quatre, Je ne détournerai pas son châtiment, parce qu'il a poursuivi son frère avec l'épée et de rejeter toute pitié, et sa colère se déchaînait sans cesse, et il a gardé sa colère pour toujours;
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he pursued with the sword his brother, and disregarded his mercy, and his anger tore in pieces continually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 mais j'enverrai un feu sur Théman, et elle dévorera les palais de Bozrah. »
And I will send out a fire against Theman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Yahvé dit: « Pour trois transgressions des enfants d'Ammon, oui, pour quatre, Je ne détournerai pas son châtiment, car ils ont éventré les femmes enceintes de Gilead, afin qu'ils puissent élargir leur frontière.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of the children of 'Ammon, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have ripped up the pregnant women of Gil'ad, in order to enlarge their own territory;
14 Mais je vais allumer un feu dans la muraille de Rabba, et il dévorera ses palais, avec des cris au jour de la bataille, avec une tempête au jour du tourbillon;
And I will kindle a fire within the walls of Rabbah, which shall devour her palaces, with shouting on the day of battle, with a storm on the day of the tempest;
15 et leur roi ira en captivité, lui et ses princes ensemble, » dit Yahvé.
And their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
