Actes 14
1 A Icone, ils entrèrent ensemble dans la synagogue des Juifs, et ils parlèrent de telle sorte qu'une grande multitude de Juifs et de Grecs crurent.
It happened in Iconium that they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great number of both of Jews and of Greeks believed.
2 Mais les Juifs incrédules excitèrent et aigrirent les âmes des païens contre les frères.
But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the non-Jewish people against the brothers.
3 Ils restèrent là longtemps, parlant avec assurance au Seigneur, qui rendait témoignage à la parole de sa grâce, en accordant que des signes et des prodiges se fassent par leurs mains.
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 Mais la foule de la ville était divisée. Une partie prenait parti pour les Juifs et l'autre pour les apôtres.
But the population of the city was divided. Some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
5 Une partie des païens et des Juifs, avec leurs chefs, cherchant à les maltraiter et à les lapider,
When some of both the non-Jewish people and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,
6 ils en eurent connaissance et s'enfuirent dans les villes de Lycaonie, Lystre, Derbe et les environs.
they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.
7 Ils y prêchaient la Bonne Nouvelle.
There they preached the Good News.
8 A Lystre, un homme était assis, impotent des pieds, infirme dès le sein de sa mère, et qui n'avait jamais marché.
At Lystra a certain man sat, without strength in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked.
9 Il écoutait parler Paul, qui, fixant les yeux sur lui et voyant qu'il avait la foi pour être guéri,
He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,
10 dit d'une voix forte: « Redresse-toi sur tes pieds! » Il se leva d'un bond et marcha.
said with a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." He leaped up and walked.
11 La foule, voyant ce que Paul avait fait, éleva la voix et dit en langue lycaonienne: « Les dieux sont descendus chez nous sous la forme d'hommes. »
When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, "The gods have come down to us in human form."
12 Ils appelaient Barnabas « Jupiter », et Paul « Mercure », parce qu'il était le principal orateur.
They called Barnabas "Jupiter," and Paul "Mercury," because he was the chief speaker.
13 Le prêtre de Jupiter, dont le temple était en face de leur ville, amenait aux portes des bœufs et des guirlandes, et il aurait voulu offrir un sacrifice avec la foule.
The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the crowds.
14 Mais les apôtres Barnabas et Paul, ayant appris cela, déchirèrent leurs vêtements et se jetèrent dans la foule, en s'écriant:
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the crowd, crying out,
15 « Hommes, pourquoi faites-vous cela? Nous aussi, nous sommes des hommes de même nature que vous, et nous vous apportons une bonne nouvelle, afin que vous vous détourniez de ces choses vaines pour vous tourner vers le Dieu vivant, qui a fait le ciel, la terre, la mer et tout ce qui s'y trouve;
"Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;
16 qui, dans les générations passées, a laissé toutes les nations suivre leurs propres voies.
who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Pourtant, il ne s'est pas laissé sans témoignage, en ce qu'il a fait du bien et vous a donné des pluies du ciel et des saisons fécondes, remplissant nos cœurs de nourriture et de joie. »
Yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness."
18 Même en disant ces choses, ils n'empêchaient guère la foule de leur offrir un sacrifice.
Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the crowds from making a sacrifice to them.
19 Mais des Juifs d'Antioche et d'Iconium, étant arrivés là, persuadèrent la foule de lapider Paul et de le traîner hors de la ville, croyant qu'il était mort.
But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
20 Mais comme les disciples se tenaient autour de lui, il se leva, et entra dans la ville. Le lendemain, il partit avec Barnabé pour Derbe.
But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 Après avoir annoncé la bonne nouvelle dans cette ville et fait beaucoup de disciples, ils retournèrent à Lystre, à Icone et à Antioche,
When they had preached the Good News to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,
22 fortifiant l'âme des disciples, les exhortant à persévérer dans la foi, et leur disant que c'est par beaucoup d'afflictions qu'il faut entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.
23 Après avoir établi pour eux des anciens dans chaque assemblée, et après avoir prié et jeûné, ils les recommandaient au Seigneur en qui ils avaient cru.
When they had appointed elders for them in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.
24 Ils traversèrent la Pisidie et arrivèrent en Pamphylie.
They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.
25 Après avoir annoncé la parole à Perge, ils descendirent à Attalie.
When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26 De là, ils s'embarquèrent pour Antioche, d'où ils avaient été remis à la grâce de Dieu pour l'œuvre qu'ils avaient accomplie.
From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
27 Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés et qu'ils eurent rassemblé l'assemblée, ils racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait avec eux, et qu'il avait ouvert aux nations une porte de la foi.
When they had arrived, and had gathered the church together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.
28 Ils restèrent là longtemps avec les disciples.
And they stayed with the disciples a long time.
