2 Timothée 1

1 Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, selon la promesse de la vie qui est en Jésus-Christ,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, according to a promise of life that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2 à Timothée, mon enfant bien-aimé: Grâce, miséricorde et paix, de la part de Dieu le Père et de Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.

to Timotheus, beloved child: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

3 Je rends grâce à Dieu, que je sers comme mes ancêtres, avec une conscience pure. Comme je me souviens sans cesse de vous dans mes requêtes, nuit et jour

I am thankful to God, whom I serve from progenitors in a pure conscience, that I unceasingly have remembrance concerning you in my supplications night and day,

4 désirant vous voir, me souvenant de vos larmes, afin d'être rempli de joie;

desiring to see you greatly, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,

5 m'étant rappelé la foi sincère qui est en vous, qui a vécu d'abord en votre grand-mère Loïs et en votre mère Eunice et, j'en suis persuadé, en vous aussi.

taking remembrance of the unhypocritical faith that is in you, that first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that also in you.

6 C'est pourquoi je vous rappelle que vous devez stimuler le don de Dieu qui est en vous par l'imposition de mes mains.

For which cause I remind you to stir up the gift of God that is in you through the putting on of my hands,

7 Car Dieu ne nous a pas donné un esprit de crainte, mais de puissance, d'amour et de maîtrise de soi.

for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind;

8 N'ayez donc pas honte du témoignage de notre Seigneur, ni de moi, son prisonnier, mais supportez la souffrance pour la Bonne Nouvelle, selon la puissance de Dieu,

therefore you may not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but you suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,

9 qui nous a sauvés et appelés par une vocation sainte, non selon nos œuvres, mais selon son dessein et sa grâce, qui nous ont été accordés en Jésus-Christ avant les temps éternels, (aiōnios g166)

who saved us, and called with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages, (aiōnios g166)

10 mais qui ont été révélés maintenant par l'apparition de notre Sauveur, Jésus-Christ, qui a aboli la mort et mis en lumière la vie et l'immortalité par la Bonne Nouvelle.

and was made visible now through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who indeed abolished death, and enlightened life and immortality through the good news,

11 C'est pour cela que j'ai été établi prédicateur, apôtre et docteur des païens.

to which I was placed a preacher and an apostle, and a teacher of nations,

12 C'est pourquoi je souffre aussi ces choses. Mais je n'ai pas honte, car je connais celui en qui j'ai cru, et je suis persuadé qu'il est capable de garder ce que je lui ai confié pour ce jour-là.

for which cause these things I also suffer, but I am not ashamed, for I have known in whom I have believed, and have been persuaded that He is able to guard that which I have committed to Him—to that day.

13 Gardez le modèle des saines paroles que vous avez entendues de moi, dans la foi et la charité qui est en Jésus-Christ.

Hold the pattern of sound words, which you heard from me, in faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus;

14 Ce bien qui vous a été confié, gardez-le par le Saint-Esprit qui habite en nous.

guard the good thing committed through the Holy Spirit that is dwelling in us;

15 Vous savez que tous ceux qui sont en Asie se sont détournés de moi, dont Phygelus et Hermogène.

you have known this, that they turned from me—all those in Asia, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes;

16 Que le Seigneur fasse miséricorde à la maison d'Onésiphore, car il m'a souvent rafraîchi, et n'a pas eu honte de ma chaîne,

may the LORD give kindness to the house of Onesiphorus, because he refreshed me many times, and was not ashamed of my chain,

17 mais, lorsqu'il était à Rome, il m'a cherché diligemment et m'a trouvé

but being in Rome, he sought me very diligently and found [me];

18 (que le Seigneur lui accorde de trouver la miséricorde du Seigneur en ce jour); et en combien de choses il a servi à Éphèse, vous le savez très bien.

may the LORD give to him to find kindness from the LORD in that day; and you very well know how much he ministered in Ephesus.
