2 Samuel 1
1 Après la mort de Saül, David revenait de la tuerie des Amalécites, et il était resté deux jours à Tsiklag.
After the death of Saul, when Dauid was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites and had beene two dayes in Ziklag,
2 Le troisième jour, voici qu'un homme sortit du camp de la part de Saül, les vêtements déchirés et de la terre sur la tête. Lorsqu'il arriva à David, il se jeta à terre et lui témoigna du respect.
Behold, a man came the third day out of the host from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth vpon his head: and when hee came to Dauid, he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
3 David lui dit: « D'où viens-tu? » Il lui dit: « Je me suis échappé du camp d'Israël. »
Then Dauid saide vnto him, Whence commest thou? And he said vnto him, Out of the host of Israel I am escaped.
4 David lui dit: « Comment cela s'est-il passé? Dis-le-moi. » Il répondit: « Le peuple a fui la bataille, et beaucoup de gens sont tombés et sont morts. Saül et son fils Jonathan sont morts eux aussi. »
And Dauid saide vnto him, What is done? I pray thee, tell me. Then he said, that the people is fled from the battel, and many of the people are ouerthrowen, and dead, and also Saul and Ionathan his sonne are dead.
5 David dit au jeune homme qui lui avait raconté: « Comment sais-tu que Saül et Jonathan, son fils, sont morts? »
And Dauid saide vnto the yong man that tolde it him, Howe knowest thou that Saul and Ionathan his sonne be dead?
6 Le jeune homme qui le raconta dit: « Comme je me trouvais par hasard sur la montagne de Gilboa, voici que Saül s'appuyait sur sa lance; et voici que les chars et les cavaliers suivaient de près derrière lui.
Then the yong man that tolde him, answered, As I came to mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned vpon his speare, and loe, the charets and horsemen followed hard after him.
7 Quand il regarda derrière lui, il me vit et m'appela. Je répondis: Me voici!
And when he looked backe, he saw me, and called me. And I answered, Here am I.
8 Il me dit: « Qui es-tu? Je lui répondis: Je suis un Amalécite.
And he said vnto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
9 Il me dit: « Mets-toi à côté de moi, je t'en prie, et tue-moi, car l'angoisse s'est emparée de moi, parce que ma vie est encore en moi.
Then saide hee vnto me, I pray thee come vpon mee, and slay me: for anguish is come vpon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
10 Je me suis donc tenu à côté de lui et je l'ai tué, car j'étais sûr qu'il ne pourrait pas vivre après sa chute. J'ai pris la couronne qui était sur sa tête et le bracelet qui était à son bras, et je les ai apportés ici à mon seigneur. »
So I came vpon him, and slewe him, and because I was sure that hee coulde not liue, after that hee had fallen, I tooke the crowne that was vpon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arme, and brought them hither vnto my lord.
11 Alors David saisit ses vêtements et les déchira, et tous les hommes qui étaient avec lui firent de même.
Then Dauid tooke hold on his clothes, and rent them, and likewise al the men that were with him.
12 Ils se lamentèrent, pleurèrent et jeûnèrent jusqu'au soir sur Saül et sur Jonathan, son fils, sur le peuple de l'Éternel et sur la maison d'Israël, parce qu'ils étaient tombés par l'épée.
And they mourned and wept, and fasted vntil euen, for Saul and for Ionathan his sonne, and for the people of the Lord, and for the house of Israel, because they were slaine with the sword.
13 David dit au jeune homme qui lui a parlé: « D'où viens-tu? » Il répondit: « Je suis le fils d'un étranger, un Amalécite. »
Afterward Dauid saide vnto the yong man that tolde it him, Whence art thou? And hee answered, I am the sonne of a stranger an Amalekite.
14 David lui dit: « Pourquoi n'as-tu pas eu peur d'étendre ta main pour faire périr l'oint de Yahvé? ».
And Dauid said vnto him, How wast thou not afrayd, to put forth thine hand to destroy the Anoynted of the Lord?
15 David appela l'un des jeunes hommes et dit: « Approche, et coupe-le! ». Il le frappa de telle sorte qu'il mourut.
Then Dauid called one of his yong men, and said, Goe neere, and fall vpon him. And hee smote him that he dyed.
16 David lui dit: « Que ton sang retombe sur ta tête, car ta bouche a rendu témoignage contre toi, en disant: J'ai tué l'oint de l'Éternel. »
Then said Dauid vnto him, Thy blood be vpon thine owne head: for thine owne mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I haue slaine the Lords Anoynted.
17 David se lamenta ainsi sur Saül et sur Jonathan, son fils
Then Dauid mourned with this lamentation ouer Saul, and ouer Ionathan his sonne,
18 (et il leur ordonna d'enseigner aux fils de Juda le chant de l'arc; voici, cela est écrit dans le livre de Jashar):
(Also he bade them teach the children of Iudah to shoote, as it is written in the booke of Iasher)
19 « Ta gloire, Israël, a été tuée sur tes hauts lieux! Comme les puissants sont tombés!
O noble Israel, hee is slane vpon thy hie places: how are the mightie ouerthrowen!
20 Ne le dis pas à Gath. Ne le publiez pas dans les rues d'Ashkelon, de peur que les filles des Philistins ne se réjouissent, de peur que les filles des incirconcis ne triomphent.
Tell it not in Gath, nor publish it in the streetes of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistims reioyce, lest the daughters of the vncircumcised triumph.
21 Vous les montagnes de Gilboa, qu'il n'y ait ni rosée ni pluie sur vous, et pas de champs d'offrandes; car c'est là que le bouclier des puissants a été souillé et jeté, le bouclier de Saul n'a pas été oint d'huile.
Ye mountaines of Gilboa, vpon you be neither dewe nor raine, nor be there fieldes of offrings: for there the shielde of the mightie is cast downe, the shielde of Saul, as though he had not bene anointed with oyle.
22 Du sang des victimes, de la graisse des puissants, L'arc de Jonathan ne s'est pas retourné. L'épée de Saul n'est pas revenue vide.
The bow of Ionathan neuer turned backe, neither did the sword of Saul returne emptie from the blood of the slaine, and from the fatte of the mightie.
23 Saül et Jonathan étaient charmants et agréables dans leur vie. Dans leur mort, ils n'ont pas été divisés. Ils étaient plus rapides que les aigles. Ils étaient plus forts que des lions.
Saul and Ionathan were louely and pleasant in their liues, and in their deaths they were not deuided: they were swifter then eagles, they were stronger then lions.
24 Filles d'Israël, pleurez sur Saül, qui t'a délicatement vêtu d'écarlate, qui ont mis des ornements d'or sur vos vêtements.
Yee daughters of Israel, weepe for Saul, which clothed you in skarlet, with pleasures, and hanged ornaments of gold vpon your apparel.
25 Comme les puissants sont tombés au milieu de la bataille! Jonathan a été tué sur vos hauts lieux.
Howe were the mightie slaine in the mids of the battel! O Ionathan, thou wast slaine in thine hie places.
26 Je suis dans l'angoisse pour toi, mon frère Jonathan. Vous avez été très agréable avec moi. Ton amour pour moi était merveilleux, surpassant l'amour des femmes.
Wo is me for thee, my brother Ionathan: very kinde hast thou bene vnto me: thy loue to me was wonderfull, passing the loue of women:
27 Comme les puissants sont tombés, et les armes de guerre ont péri! »
howe are the mightie ouerthrowen, and the weapons of warre destroyed!
