2 Samuel 7
1 Lorsque le roi habitait dans sa maison et que Yahvé lui avait accordé du repos contre tous ses ennemis de tous les côtés,
Afterwarde when the King sate in his house and the Lord had giuen him rest rounde about from all his enemies,
2 le roi dit à Nathan, le prophète: « Voici, j'habite dans une maison de cèdre, mais l'arche de Dieu habite dans des courtines. »
The King saide vnto Nathan the Prophet, Beholde, nowe I dwel in an house of cedar trees, and the Arke of God remayneth within the curtaines.
3 Nathan dit au roi: « Va, fais tout ce que tu as dans le cœur, car Yahvé est avec toi. »
Then Nathan sayde vnto the King, Go, and doe all that is in thine heart: for the Lord is with thee.
4 Cette même nuit, la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Nathan, en ces termes:
And the same night the worde of the Lord came vnto Nathan, saying,
5 Va dire à mon serviteur David: « Yahvé dit: Veux-tu me construire une maison pour que j'y habite?
Goe and tell my seruant Dauid, Thus saieth the Lord, Shalt thou buylde me an house for my dwelling?
6 Car je n'ai pas habité dans une maison depuis le jour où j'ai fait monter les enfants d'Israël hors d'Égypte, jusqu'à ce jour, mais je me suis déplacé dans une tente et dans un tabernacle.
For I haue dwelt in no house since the time that I brought the children of Israel out of Egypt vnto this day, but haue walked in a tent and tabernacle.
7 Dans tous les lieux où j'ai marché avec tous les enfants d'Israël, j'ai dit à quelqu'un des tribus d'Israël à qui j'avais ordonné d'être le berger de mon peuple d'Israël: « Pourquoi ne m'avez-vous pas bâti une maison de cèdre? ».
In al the places wherein I haue walked with all the children of Israel, spake I one worde with any of the tribes of Israel when I commanded the iudges to feede my people Israel? or sayde I, Why build ye not me an house of cedar trees?
8 Maintenant, dites ceci à mon serviteur David: Yahvé des armées dit: « Je t'ai pris de la bergerie, de la suite des brebis, pour être prince sur mon peuple, sur Israël.
Nowe therefore so say vnto my seruant Dauid, Thus saieth the Lord of hostes, I tooke thee from the sheepecote following the sheepe, that thou mightest bee ruler ouer my people, ouer Israel.
9 J'ai été avec toi partout où tu es allé, et j'ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi. Je te ferai un grand nom, comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre.
And I was with thee wheresoeuer thou hast walked, and haue destroyed all thine enemies out of thy sight, and haue made thee a great name, like vnto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
10 J'établirai un lieu pour mon peuple d'Israël, et je le planterai, afin qu'il habite dans son lieu et ne soit plus déplacé. Les enfants du mal ne les affligeront plus, comme au début,
(Also I will appoynt a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in a place of their owne, and moue no more, neither shall wicked people trouble them any more as before time,
11 et comme depuis le jour où j'ai ordonné à des juges d'être à la tête de mon peuple d'Israël. Je vous ferai reposer de tous vos ennemis. De plus, Yahvé te dit que Yahvé te fera une maison.
And since the time that I set Iudges ouer my people of Israel) and I will giue thee rest from al thine enemies: also the Lord telleth thee, that he will make thee an house.
12 Lorsque tes jours seront accomplis et que tu te coucheras avec tes pères, j'établirai ta descendance après toi, qui sortira de ton corps, et j'établirai son règne.
And when thy daies bee fulfilled, thou shalt sleepe with thy fathers, and I wil set vp thy seede after thee, which shall proceede out of thy body, and will stablish his kingdome.
13 Il bâtira une maison à mon nom, et j'établirai pour toujours le trône de son royaume.
He shall buyld an house for my Name, and I will stablish ye throne of his kingdome for euer.
14 Je serai son père, et il sera mon fils. S'il commet l'iniquité, je le châtierai avec la verge des hommes et avec les coups des enfants des hommes;
I will be his father, and hee shall bee my sonne: and if he sinne, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of men.
15 mais ma bonté ne se retirera pas de lui, comme je l'ai fait pour Saül, que j'ai rejeté devant toi.
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I tooke it from Saul whome I haue put away before thee.
16 Ta maison et ton royaume seront assurés pour toujours devant toi. Ton trône sera affermi pour toujours. »'"
And thine house shall be stablished and thy kingdome for euer before thee, euen thy throne shalbe stablished for euer.
17 Nathan adressa à David toutes ces paroles, et selon toute cette vision.
According to all these wordes, and according to all this vision, Nathan spake thus vnto Dauid.
18 Alors le roi David entra et s'assit devant l'Éternel; et il dit: Qui suis-je, Seigneur Éternel, et quelle est ma maison, pour que tu m'aies conduit jusqu'ici?
Then King Dauid went in, and sate before the Lord, and sayde, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
19 C'était encore peu de chose à tes yeux, Seigneur Éternel, mais tu as parlé de la maison de ton serviteur pour un temps encore long, et cela parmi les hommes, Seigneur Éternel!
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord God, therefore thou hast spoken also of thy seruants house for a great while: but doth this appertaine to man, O Lord God?
20 Que peut encore te dire David? Car tu connais ton serviteur, Seigneur Yahvé.
And what can Dauid say more vnto thee? for thou, Lord God, knowest thy seruant.
21 C'est à cause de ta parole, et selon ton propre cœur, que tu as fait toute cette grandeur, pour la faire connaître à ton serviteur.
For thy words sake, and according to thine owne heart hast thou done all these great things, to make them knowen vnto thy seruant.
22 C'est pourquoi tu es grand, Yahvé Dieu. Car il n'y a personne comme toi, et il n'y a pas d'autre Dieu que toi, d'après tout ce que nous avons entendu de nos oreilles.
Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that wee haue heard with our eares.
23 Quelle nation sur la terre est semblable à ton peuple, à Israël, que Dieu est allé racheter pour en faire un peuple, et pour se faire un nom, et pour faire de grandes choses pour toi, et des choses redoutables pour ton pays, devant ton peuple, que tu as racheté pour toi hors d'Égypte, d'entre les nations et leurs dieux?
And what one people in the earth is like thy people, like Israel? whose God went and redeemed them to himselfe, that they might be his people, and that hee might make him a name, and do for you great things, and terrible for thy land, O Lord, euen for thy people, whome thou redeemedst to thee out of Egypt, from the nations, and their gods?
24 Tu as établi pour toi ton peuple Israël, pour qu'il soit ton peuple à jamais; et toi, Yahvé, tu es devenu son Dieu.
For thou hast ordeyned to thy selfe thy people Israel to be thy people for euer: and thou Lord art become their God.
25 « Maintenant, Yahvé Dieu, la parole que tu as prononcée sur ton serviteur et sur sa maison, confirme-la à jamais, et fais ce que tu as dit.
Nowe therefore, O Lord God, confirme for euer the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy seruant and his house, and doe as thou hast sayde.
26 Que ton nom soit à jamais glorifié, en disant: L'Éternel des armées est Dieu sur Israël, et la maison de ton serviteur David sera affermie devant toi.
And let thy Name bee magnified for euer by them that shall say, The Lord of hostes is the God ouer Israel: and let the house of thy seruant Dauid be stablished before thee.
27 Car toi, Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël, tu as révélé à ton serviteur: Je te bâtirai une maison. C'est pourquoi ton serviteur a trouvé dans son cœur de t'adresser cette prière.
For thou, O Lord of hostes, God of Israel, hast reueiled vnto thy seruant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy seruant bene bold to pray this prayer vnto thee.
28 « Maintenant, Seigneur Yahvé, tu es Dieu, et tes paroles sont vérité, et tu as promis ce bien à ton serviteur.
Therefore now, O Lord God, (for thou art God, and thy words be true, and thou hast tolde this goodnes vnto thy seruant)
29 Maintenant donc, qu'il te plaise de bénir la maison de ton serviteur, afin qu'elle subsiste à jamais devant toi, car c'est toi, Seigneur Yahvé, qui l'as dit. Que la maison de ton serviteur soit bénie à jamais par ta bénédiction. »
Therefore nowe let it please thee to blesse the house of thy seruant, that it may continue for euer before thee: for thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and let the house of thy seruant be blessed for euer, with thy blessing.
