2 Samuel 16
1 Lorsque David eut un peu dépassé le sommet, voici que Tsiba, serviteur de Mephibosheth, vint à sa rencontre avec deux ânes sellés, et sur eux deux cents pains, cent grappes de raisins secs, cent fruits d'été et une outre de vin.
And when David was a little past the top of the ascent, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2 Le roi dit à Tsiba: « Que veux-tu dire par là? » Ziba dit: « Les ânes sont destinés à la maison du roi; le pain et les fruits d'été sont destinés aux jeunes gens; et le vin, à ceux qui sont fatigués dans le désert. »
And the king said to Ziba, What do thou mean by these? And Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on, and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.
3 Le roi dit: « Où est le fils de ton maître? » Ziba dit au roi: « Voici qu'il reste à Jérusalem, car il a dit: « Aujourd'hui, la maison d'Israël me rendra le royaume de mon père. »
And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abides at Jerusalem, for he said, Today the house of Israel will restore for me the kingdom of my father.
4 Et le roi dit à Ziba: « Voici, tout ce qui appartient à Mephibosheth est à toi. » Ziba a dit: « Je me prosterne. Laisse-moi trouver grâce à tes yeux, mon seigneur, ô roi. »
Then the king said to Ziba, Behold, all that pertains to Mephibosheth is thine. And Ziba said, I do obeisance. Let me find favor in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5 Lorsque le roi David arriva à Bahurim, voici que sortit un homme de la famille de la maison de Saül, qui s'appelait Shimei, fils de Gera. Il sortit et maudit en arrivant.
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, there came out from there a man of the family of the house of Saul whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, cursing as he came.
6 Il jeta des pierres à David et à tous les serviteurs du roi David, et tout le peuple et tous les vaillants hommes étaient à sa droite et à sa gauche.
And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7 Schimeï dit en maudissant: « Va-t'en, va-t'en, homme de sang et méchant homme!
And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Begone, begone, thou man of blood, and base fellow.
8 Yahvé a fait retomber sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül, à la place duquel tu as régné! Yahvé a livré le royaume entre les mains d'Absalom, ton fils. Voici que tu es pris par ta propre malice, car tu es un homme de sang! »
Jehovah has returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul in whose stead thou have reigned. And Jehovah has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son, and, behold, thou are taken in thine own mischief because thou are a man of blood.
9 Alors Abischaï, fils de Tseruja, dit au roi: « Pourquoi ce chien mort maudirait-il mon seigneur le roi? Permettez-moi d'aller lui couper la tête. »
Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 Le roi dit: « Qu'ai-je à faire avec vous, fils de Tseruja? Parce qu'il maudit, et parce que Yahvé lui a dit: 'Maudis David', qui dira: 'Pourquoi as-tu agi ainsi?'"
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Jehovah has said to him, Curse David, who then shall say, Why have thou done so?
11 David dit à Abishaï et à tous ses serviteurs: « Voici mon fils, sorti de mes entrailles, qui en veut à ma vie. Combien plus ce Benjamite, maintenant? Laissez-le tranquille, et laissez-le maudire, car l'Éternel l'a invité.
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse, for Jehovah has bidden him.
12 Il se peut que l'Éternel regarde le mal qui m'a été fait, et que l'Éternel me rende bien la malédiction dont j'ai été l'objet aujourd'hui. »
It may be that Jehovah will look on the wrong done to me, and that Jehovah will reward me good for his cursing of me this day.
13 David et ses hommes s'en allèrent par le chemin, tandis que Shimei s'avançait sur la colline en face de lui et le maudissait en marchant, lui jetait des pierres et de la poussière.
So David and his men went by the way, and Shimei went along on the hill-side opposite him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 Le roi et tout le peuple qui l'accompagnait arrivèrent fatigués, et il se rafraîchit là.
And the king, and all the people who were with him, came weary, and he refreshed himself there.
15 Absalom et tout le peuple, les hommes d'Israël, arrivèrent à Jérusalem, et Achitophel avec lui.
And Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 Lorsque Huschaï, l'Architecte, ami de David, fut arrivé auprès d'Absalom, Huschaï dit à Absalom: « Vive le roi! Vive le roi! »
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Live, O king. Live, O king.
17 Absalom dit à Huschaï: « Est-ce là ta bonté envers ton ami? Pourquoi n'es-tu pas allé avec ton ami? »
And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? Why did thou not go with thy friend?
18 Huschaï dit à Absalom: « Non, mais celui que Yahvé, ce peuple et tous les hommes d'Israël ont choisi, je serai à lui et je resterai avec lui.
And Hushai said to Absalom, No, but whom Jehovah, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him I will abide.
19 Encore une fois, qui dois-je servir? Ne devrais-je pas servir en présence de son fils? De même que j'ai servi en présence de ton père, de même je serai en ta présence. »
And again, whom should I serve? Is it not in the presence of his son? As I have served in thy father's presence, so I will be in thy presence.
20 Absalom dit à Achitophel: « Conseille-nous sur ce que nous devons faire. »
Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.
21 Ahithophel dit à Absalom: « Va vers les concubines de ton père qu'il a laissées pour garder la maison. Alors tout Israël apprendra que ton père t'a en horreur. Alors les mains de tous ceux qui sont avec toi seront fortes. »
And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father's concubines that he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that thou are abhorred by thy father. Then the hands of all who are with thee will be strong.
22 On dressa donc une tente pour Absalom sur le toit de la maison, et Absalom alla vers les concubines de son père, aux yeux de tout Israël.
So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23 Les conseils d'Achitophel, qu'il donnait en ces jours-là, étaient comme si un homme consultait le sanctuaire intérieur de Dieu. Tous les conseils d'Achitophel ont été semblables à ceux de David et d'Absalom.
And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
