2 Rois 8
1 Élisée avait parlé à la femme dont il avait rendu la vie au fils, en disant: « Lève-toi, va, toi et ta famille, et reste quelque temps où tu pourras, car Yahvé a annoncé une famine. Elle s'abattra sur le pays pendant sept ans. »
Then spake Elisha vnto the woman, whose sonne he had restored to life, saying, Vp, and goe, thou, and thine house, and soiourne where thou canst soiourne: for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it commeth also vpon the land seuen yeeres.
2 La femme se leva, et fit ce que l'homme de Dieu lui avait dit. Elle partit avec sa famille, et elle vécut sept ans dans le pays des Philistins.
And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God, and went both shee and her housholde and soiourned in the lande of the Philistims seuen yeeres.
3 Au bout de sept ans, la femme revint du pays des Philistins. Elle sortit pour demander au roi sa maison et son pays.
And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.
4 Or, le roi parlait avec Guéhazi, le serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, en disant: « Je te prie de me raconter toutes les grandes choses qu'Élisée a faites. »
And the King talked with Gehazi the seruant of the man of God, saying, Tell mee, I pray thee, all the great actes, that Elisha hath done.
5 Comme il racontait au roi comment il avait rendu la vie à celui qui était mort, voici que la femme dont il avait rendu la vie au fils supplia le roi pour sa maison et pour son pays. Guéhazi dit: « Mon seigneur, ô roi, voici la femme et voici son fils qu'Élisée a rendu à la vie. »
And as he told the King, howe he had restored one dead to life, behold, the woman, whose sonne he had raised to life, called vpon the King for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi sayd, My lorde, O King, this is the woman, and this is her sonne, whom Elisha restored to life.
6 Le roi interrogea la femme, et elle lui répondit. Alors le roi lui nomma un officier, en disant: « Restaure tout ce qui lui appartenait, et tous les fruits des champs depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays, jusqu'à maintenant. »
And when the King asked the woman, shee told him: so the King appoynted her an Eunuch, saying, Restore thou all that are hers, and all the fruites of her landes since the day shee left the land, euen vntill this time.
7 Elisée arriva à Damas, et Benhadad, le roi de Syrie, était malade. On lui dit: « L'homme de Dieu est venu ici. »
Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad the King of Aram was sicke, and one told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8 Le roi dit à Hazaël: « Prends un présent dans ta main, va à la rencontre de l'homme de Dieu, et interroge par lui Yahvé en disant: « Vais-je guérir de cette maladie? »"
And the king sayd vnto Hazael, Take a present in thine hande, and goe meete the man of God, that thou mayest inquire of ye Lord by him, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
9 Hazaël alla au-devant de lui et prit avec lui un présent, de tout ce qu'il y avait de bon à Damas, quarante charges de chameaux, puis il vint se placer devant lui et dit: « Ton fils Benhadad, roi de Syrie, m'a envoyé vers toi, en disant: « Vais-je guérir de cette maladie? »
So Hazael went to meete him, and tooke the present in his hand, and of euery good thing of Damascus, euen the burden of fourtie camels, and came and stood before him, and sayde, Thy sonne Ben-hadad King of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
10 Élisée lui dit: « Va, dis-lui: « Tu vas guérir », mais l'Éternel m'a montré qu'il allait mourir. »
And Elisha sayd to him, Goe, and say vnto him, Thou shalt recouer: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall surely dye.
11 Il fixa son regard sur lui, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait honte. Alors l'homme de Dieu pleura.
And hee looked vpon him stedfastly, till Hazael was ashamed, and the man of God wept.
12 Hazaël dit: « Pourquoi pleures-tu, mon seigneur? » Il répondit: « Parce que je sais le mal que tu feras aux enfants d'Israël. Vous mettrez le feu à leurs forteresses, vous tuerez leurs jeunes gens par l'épée, vous mettrez en pièces leurs petits enfants et vous déchirerez leurs femmes enceintes. »
And Hazael sayde, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I knowe the euill that thou shalt do vnto the children of Israel: for their strong cities shalt thou set on fire, and their yong men shalt thou slay with the sworde, and shalt dash their infantes against the stones, and rent in pieces their women with child.
13 Hazaël dit: « Mais qu'est-ce que ton serviteur, qui n'est qu'un chien, pour qu'il puisse faire cette grande chose? » Elisée répondit: « Yahvé m'a montré que tu seras roi de Syrie. »
Then Hazael said, What? is thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed mee, that thou shalt be King of Aram.
14 Puis il se sépara d'Élisée et vint vers son maître, qui lui dit: « Que t'a dit Élisée? » Il a répondu: « Il m'a dit que vous alliez sûrement guérir. »
So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What saide Elisha to thee? And he answered, Hee tolde mee that thou shouldest recouer.
15 Le lendemain, il prit un linge épais, le trempa dans l'eau et l'étendit sur le visage du roi, de sorte qu'il mourut. Hazaël régna à sa place.
And on the morow he tooke a thick cloth and dipt in it water, and spread it on his face, and hee dyed: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 La cinquième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Josaphat étant alors roi de Juda, Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda, commença à régner.
Now in the fift yere of Ioram ye sonne of Ahab King of Israel, and of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah began to reigne.
17 Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi. Il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and hee reigned eight yeere in Ierusalem.
18 Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, comme la maison d'Achab, car il avait épousé la fille d'Achab. Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel.
And hee walked in the wayes of the Kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife, and hee did euill in the sight of the Lord.
19 Cependant, l'Éternel ne voulut pas détruire Juda, à cause de David, son serviteur, car il lui avait promis de lui donner une lampe pour ses enfants, pour toujours.
Yet the Lord would not destroy Iudah, for Dauid his seruants sake, as he had promised him to giue him a light, and to his children for euer.
20 De son temps, Édom se révolta de dessous la main de Juda, et se fit un roi.
In those dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer themselues.
21 Et Joram passa à Zaïr, et tous ses chars avec lui; et il se leva de nuit et frappa les Édomites qui l'entouraient avec les chefs des chars; et le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.
Therefore Ioram went to Zair, and all his charets with him, and he arose by night, and smote the Edomites which were about him with the captains of the charets, and the people fled into their tents.
22 Ainsi Édom se révolta de dessous la main de Juda jusqu'à ce jour. En même temps, Libna se révolta.
So Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah vnto this day. then Libnah rebelled at that same time.
23 Le reste des actes de Joram, et tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-ce pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioram and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
24 Joram se coucha avec ses pères et fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David; et Achazia, son fils, régna à sa place.
And Ioram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
25 La douzième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, commença à régner.
In the twelft yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel did Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah begin to reigne.
26 Achazia avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Athalie, fille d'Omri, roi d'Israël.
Two and twentie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri King of Israel.
27 Il marcha dans la voie de la maison d'Achab et fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, comme la maison d'Achab, car il était le gendre de la maison d'Achab.
And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for hee was the sonne in law of the house of Ahab.
28 Il alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, à la guerre contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth Galaad, et les Syriens blessèrent Joram.
And he went with Ioram the sonne of Ahab to warre against Hazael King of Aram in Ramoth Gilead, and the Aramites smote Ioram.
29 Le roi Joram revint se faire guérir à Jizreel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Rama, lorsqu'il combattait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit voir Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jizreel, car il était malade.
And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the wounds which ye Aramites had giuen him at Ramah, whe he fought against Hazael King of Aram. And Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Ioram the sonne of Ahab in Izreel, because he was sicke.
