1 L'aîné, à l'élue et à ses enfants, que j'aime en vérité, et non pas moi seulement, mais aussi tous ceux qui connaissent la vérité,
The eldere man, to the chosun ladi, and to her children, whiche Y loue in treuthe; and not Y aloone, but also alle men that knowen treuthe;
for the treuthe that dwellith in you, and with you schal be with outen ende. (aiōn g165)
3 Que la grâce, la miséricorde et la paix soient avec nous, de la part de Dieu le Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ, le Fils du Père, dans la vérité et l'amour.
Grace be with you, merci, and pees of God the fadir, and of Jhesu Crist, the sone of the fadir, in treuthe and charite.
4 Je me réjouis beaucoup d'avoir trouvé quelques-uns de vos enfants marchant dans la vérité, comme le Père nous l'a commandé.

5 Or, je vous prie, chère madame, non pas comme si je vous écrivais un commandement nouveau, mais celui que nous avions dès le commencement, de nous aimer les uns les autres.
And now Y preye thee, ladi, not as writinge a newe maundement to thee, but that that we hadden fro the bigynnyng, that we loue ech other.
6 C'est cela, l'amour, que de marcher selon ses commandements. Tel est le commandement que vous avez entendu dès le commencement, afin que vous y marchiez.
And this is charite, that we walke after his maundementis. For this is the comaundement, that as ye herden at the bigynnyng, walke ye in hym.
7 Car plusieurs séducteurs sont sortis dans le monde, ceux qui ne confessent pas que Jésus-Christ est venu dans la chair. C'est là le séducteur et l'Antéchrist.
For many disseyueris wenten out in to the world, which knoulechen not that Jhesu Crist hath come in fleisch; this is a disseyuere and antecrist.
8 Veillez sur vous-mêmes, afin que nous ne perdions pas ce que nous avons accompli, mais que nous recevions une pleine récompense.
Se ye you silf, lest ye lesen the thingis that ye han wrouyt, that ye resseyue ful mede;
9 Celui qui transgresse et ne demeure pas dans l'enseignement du Christ n'a pas Dieu. Celui qui demeure dans l'enseignement a le Père et le Fils.
witynge that ech man that goith bifore, and dwellith not in the teching of Crist, hath not God. He that dwellith in the teching, hath bothe the sone and the fadir.
10 Si quelqu'un vient chez vous et n'apporte pas cet enseignement, ne le recevez pas dans votre maison et ne l'accueillez pas,
If ony man cometh to you, and bryngith not this teching, nyle ye resseyue hym in to hous, nether seie ye to hym, Heil.
11 car celui qui l'accueille participe à ses mauvaises actions.
For he that seith to hym, Heil, comyneth with hise yuel werkis. Lo! Y biforseide to you, that ye be not confoundid in the dai of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
12 Ayant beaucoup de choses à t'écrire, je ne veux pas le faire avec du papier et de l'encre, mais j'espère venir chez toi et te parler face à face, afin que notre joie soit complète.
Y haue mo thingis to write to you, and Y wolde not bi parchemyn and enke; for Y hope that Y schal come to you, and speke mouth to mouth, that your ioye be ful.
13 Les enfants de ta sœur élue te saluent. Amen.
The sones of thi chosun sistir greten thee wel. The grace of God be with thee. Amen.
