2 Chroniques 33

1 Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem.

Manasseh [was] twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:

2 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, selon les abominations des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

But did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, like the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

3 Il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu'Ézéchias, son père, avait démolis; il éleva des autels aux Baals, fit des Asheroth, se prosterna devant toute l'armée du ciel et les servit.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them.

4 Il bâtit des autels dans la maison de Yahvé, dont Yahvé avait dit: « Mon nom sera à Jérusalem pour toujours. »

Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

5 Il bâtit des autels pour toute l'armée du ciel dans les deux parvis de la maison de l'Éternel.

And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

6 Il fit aussi passer ses enfants par le feu dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom. Il pratiquait la magie, la divination et la sorcellerie, et s'adressait à ceux qui avaient des esprits familiers et à des magiciens. Il fit beaucoup de mal à Yahvé, pour l'irriter.

And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

7 Il plaça l'image gravée de l'idole qu'il avait fabriquée dans la maison de Dieu, dont Dieu avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: « Dans cette maison et à Jérusalem, que j'ai choisie parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, je placerai mon nom pour toujours.

And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

8 Je ne retirerai plus le pied d'Israël du pays que j'ai destiné à vos pères, pourvu seulement qu'ils observent et mettent en pratique tout ce que je leur ai prescrit, toute la loi, les statuts et les ordonnances donnés par Moïse. »

Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers; provided they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

9 Manassé séduisit Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, de sorte qu'ils firent plus de mal que les nations que Yahvé avait détruites devant les enfants d'Israël.

So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, [and] to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Yahvé parla à Manassé et à son peuple, mais ils n'écoutèrent pas.

And the LORD spoke to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.

11 Yahvé fit venir sur eux les chefs de l'armée du roi d'Assyrie, qui enchaînèrent Manassé, le lièrent avec des chaînes et l'emmenèrent à Babylone.

Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

12 Lorsqu'il était dans la détresse, il implorait Yahvé, son Dieu, et s'humiliait grandement devant le Dieu de ses pères.

And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

13 Il le pria, et il fut acclamé par lui, il écouta sa supplication, et il le ramena à Jérusalem dans son royaume. Manassé sut alors que Yahvé était Dieu.

And prayed to him: and he was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he [is] God.

14 Après cela, il bâtit une muraille extérieure à la ville de David, à l'ouest du Gihon, dans la vallée, jusqu'à l'entrée de la porte des poissons. Il en entoura Ophel et l'éleva à une très grande hauteur, et il plaça de vaillants chefs dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda.

Now after this, he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish-gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great highth, and put captains of war in all the fortified cities of Judah.

15 Il fit disparaître les dieux étrangers et l'idole de la maison de l'Éternel, ainsi que tous les autels qu'il avait bâtis sur la montagne de la maison de l'Éternel et à Jérusalem, et il les jeta hors de la ville.

And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast [them] out of the city.

16 Il rebâtit l'autel de l'Éternel et y offrit des sacrifices de paix et d'actions de grâces, et il ordonna à Juda de servir l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël.

And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed on it peace-offerings and thank-offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.

17 Le peuple sacrifiait encore sur les hauts lieux, mais seulement à Yahvé, son Dieu.

Nevertheless, the people sacrificed still in the high places, [yet] to the LORD their God only.

18 Et le reste des actes de Manassé, et sa prière à son Dieu, et les paroles des voyants qui lui parlaient au nom de l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, voici, ils sont écrits parmi les actes des rois d'Israël.

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they [are written] in the book of the kings of Israel.

19 Sa prière aussi, et comment Dieu a exaucé sa demande, et tout son péché et sa faute, et les lieux où il a bâti des hauts lieux et dressé les mâts d'ashère et les images gravées avant de s'humilier: voici, ils sont écrits dans l'histoire de Hozaï.

His prayer also, and [how God] was entreated by him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they [are] written among the sayings of the seers.

20 Et Manassé se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans sa maison; et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.

So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

21 Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem.

Amon [was] two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.

22 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme avait fait Manassé, son père; Amon sacrifia à toutes les images gravées que Manassé, son père, avait faites, et il les servit.

But he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed to all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;

23 Il ne s'humilia pas devant l'Éternel, comme s'était humilié Manassé, son père, mais ce même Amon se rendit de plus en plus coupable.

And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

24 Ses serviteurs conspirèrent contre lui et le firent mourir dans sa propre maison.

And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.

25 Mais le peuple du pays tua tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon, et le peuple du pays établit roi Josias, son fils, à sa place.

But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
