2 Chroniques 26
1 Tout le peuple de Juda prit Ozias, qui avait seize ans, et le fit roi à la place de son père Amatsia.
And all the people of Judah take Uzziah (and he [is] a son of sixteen years), and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah.
2 Il bâtit Eloth et la rendit à Juda. Après cela, le roi se coucha avec ses pères.
He has built Eloth, and restores it to Judah after the king’s lying with his fathers.
3 Ozias avait seize ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Jechilia, de Jérusalem.
Uzziah [is] a son of sixteen years in his reigning, and he has reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
4 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, selon tout ce qu'avait fait son père Amatsia.
And he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH, according to all that his father Amaziah did,
5 Il se mit à chercher Dieu du temps de Zacharie, qui avait l'intelligence de la vision de Dieu; et tant qu'il chercha Yahvé, Dieu le fit prospérer.
and he is as one seeking God in the days of Zechariah who has understanding in visions of God: and in the days of his seeking YHWH, God has caused him to prosper.
6 Il sortit et combattit les Philistins, et il abattit la muraille de Gath, la muraille de Jabné et la muraille d'Asdod; il bâtit des villes dans le pays d'Asdod et chez les Philistins.
And he goes forth and fights with the Philistines, and breaks down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and builds cities [around] Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 Dieu le secourut contre les Philistins, contre les Arabes qui habitaient à Gur Baal, et contre les Meunim.
And God helps him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who are dwelling in Gur-Ba‘al and the Mehunim.
8 Les Ammonites rendirent hommage à Ozias. Son nom se répandit jusqu'à l'entrée de l'Égypte, car il devint extrêmement fort.
And the Ammonites give a present to Uzziah, and his name goes to the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself greatly.
9 Ozias bâtit à Jérusalem des tours à la porte de l'angle, à la porte de la vallée et au tournant de la muraille, et il les fortifia.
And Uzziah builds towers in Jerusalem, by the Corner Gate, and by the Valley Gate, and by the angle, and strengthens them;
10 Il construisit des tours dans le désert et creusa de nombreuses citernes, car il avait beaucoup de bétail, tant dans les plaines que dans les vallées. Il avait des fermiers et des vignerons dans les montagnes et dans les champs fertiles, car il aimait l'agriculture.
and he builds towers in the wilderness, and digs many wells, for he had much livestock, both in the low country and in the plain, farmers and vinedressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.
11 Ozias avait aussi une armée de combattants qui allaient à la guerre par bandes, selon le dénombrement fait par le scribe Jeiel et l'officier Maaséja, sous la direction de Hanania, l'un des chefs du roi.
And Uzziah has a force making war, going forth to the host, by troops, in the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Masseiah the officer, by the hand of Hananiah [one] of the heads of the king.
12 Le nombre total des chefs de famille, des vaillants hommes, était de deux mille six cents.
The whole number of heads of the fathers of the mighty men of valor [is] two thousand and six hundred;
13 Ils avaient sous leurs ordres une armée de trois cent sept mille cinq cents hommes, qui faisaient la guerre avec une grande puissance, pour aider le roi contre l'ennemi.
and by their hand [is] the force of the host—three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred warriors, with mighty power to give help to the king against the enemy.
14 Ozias prépara pour eux, pour toute l'armée, des boucliers, des lances, des casques, des cottes de mailles, des arcs et des pierres pour la fronde.
And Uzziah prepares for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, even to stones of the slings.
15 A Jérusalem, il fit installer sur les tours et sur les remparts des dispositifs inventés par des hommes habiles, pour lancer des flèches et de grosses pierres. Son nom se répandit au loin, car il fut merveilleusement aidé jusqu'à ce qu'il devienne fort.
And he makes inventions in Jerusalem—a device of an inventor—to be on the towers, and on the corners, to shoot with arrows and with great stones, and his name goes out to a distance, for he has been wonderfully helped until he has been strong.
16 Mais lorsqu'il fut fort, son cœur s'éleva, de sorte qu'il se corrompit et pécha contre l'Éternel, son Dieu, car il entra dans le temple de l'Éternel pour brûler des parfums sur l'autel des parfums.
And at his being strong his heart has been high to destruction, and he trespasses against his God YHWH, and goes into the temple of YHWH to make incense on the altar of incense.
17 Le prêtre Azaria entra après lui, et avec lui quatre-vingts prêtres de Yahvé, qui étaient des hommes vaillants.
And Azariah the priest goes in after him, and with him eighty priests of YHWH, sons of valor,
18 Ils résistèrent au roi Ozias et lui dirent: « Ce n'est pas à toi, Ozias, de brûler des parfums à l'Éternel, mais aux prêtres, fils d'Aaron, qui sont consacrés pour brûler des parfums. Sors du sanctuaire, car tu as commis une faute. Ce ne sera pas pour ton honneur de la part de Yahvé Dieu. »
and they stand up against Uzziah the king, and say to him, “[It is] not for you, O Uzziah, to make incense to YHWH, but for priests, sons of Aaron, who are sanctified to make incense; go forth from the sanctuary, for you have trespassed, indeed, for you [will] not [have] honor from YHWH God.”
19 Ozias se mit en colère. Il avait à la main un encensoir pour brûler des parfums, et comme il était en colère contre les prêtres, la lèpre se déclara sur son front devant les prêtres, dans la maison de l'Éternel, à côté de l'autel des parfums.
And Uzziah is angry, and in his hand [is] a censer to make incense, and in his being angry with the priests—the leprosy has risen in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of YHWH, from beside the altar of incense.
20 Azaria, le grand prêtre, et tous les prêtres le regardèrent, et voici qu'il avait la lèpre au front; et ils le chassèrent rapidement de là. En effet, lui-même se hâtait aussi de sortir, car l'Éternel l'avait frappé.
And Azariah the head priest looks toward him, and all the priests, and behold, he [is] leprous in his forehead, and they hurry him there, and also he himself has hurried to go out, for YHWH has plagued him.
21 Le roi Ozias fut lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort, et il habita dans une maison séparée, étant lépreux, car il avait été retranché de la maison de l'Éternel. Jotham, son fils, était à la tête de la maison du roi, jugeant le peuple du pays.
And Uzziah the king is a leper to the day of his death, and inhabits a separate house—a leper, for he has been cut off from the house of YHWH, and his son Jotham [is] over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.
22 Le reste des actes d'Ozias, les premiers et les derniers, c'est Ésaïe, le prophète, fils d'Amoz, qui les a écrits.
And the rest of the matters of Uzziah, the first and the last, Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet has written;
23 Ozias se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra avec ses pères dans le champ d'enterrement qui appartenait aux rois, car on disait: « Il est lépreux. » Jotham, son fils, régna à sa place.
and Uzziah lies with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers in the field of the burying-place that the kings have, for they said, “He [is] a leper”; and his son Jotham reigns in his stead.
