1 Timothée 4
1 Mais l'Esprit dit expressément que, dans la suite des temps, quelques-uns abandonneront la foi, s'attachant à des esprits séducteurs et à des doctrines de démons,
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons;
2 par l'hypocrisie d'hommes qui disent des mensonges, marqués au fer rouge dans leur propre conscience,
Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 interdisant le mariage et ordonnant de s'abstenir des aliments que Dieu a créés pour être reçus avec actions de grâces par ceux qui croient et connaissent la vérité.
Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by them who believe and know the truth.
4 En effet, toute créature de Dieu est bonne, et rien n'est à rejeter s'il est reçu avec actions de grâces.
For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if received with thanksgiving:
5 Car elle est sanctifiée par la parole de Dieu et la prière.
For it is sanctified by the word of God, and prayer.
6 Si tu instruis les frères de ces choses, tu seras un bon serviteur de Jésus-Christ, nourri des paroles de la foi et de la bonne doctrine que tu as suivie.
If thou shalt put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou wilt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished by the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which thou hast attained.
7 Mais refusez les fables profanes et celles des vieilles femmes. Exerce-toi à la piété.
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself [rather] to godliness.
8 Car l'exercice corporel a quelque valeur, mais la piété a une valeur en toutes choses, ayant la promesse de la vie présente et de la vie future.
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 Cette parole est fidèle et digne de toute acceptation.
This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation.
10 Car c'est à cette fin que nous travaillons et que nous souffrons l'opprobre, parce que nous avons mis notre confiance dans le Dieu vivant, qui est le Sauveur de tous les hommes, surtout de ceux qui croient.
For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.
11 Commandez et enseignez ces choses.
These things command and teach.
12 Que personne ne méprise ta jeunesse; mais sois un exemple pour ceux qui croient, en parole, dans ta manière de vivre, en amour, en esprit, en foi, et en pureté.
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in deportment, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 En attendant que je vienne, attachez-vous à la lecture, à l'exhortation et à l'enseignement.
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Ne négligez pas le don qui est en vous, et qui vous a été donné par prophétie, avec l'imposition des mains des anciens.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Occupe-toi de ces choses. Donne-toi entièrement à elles, afin que tes progrès soient révélés à tous.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Prends garde à toi-même et à ton enseignement. Persévère dans ces choses, car c'est ainsi que tu te sauveras toi-même et ceux qui t'écoutent.
Take heed to thyself and to thy doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou wilt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
