1 Samuel 19
1 Saül parla à Jonathan, son fils, et à tous ses serviteurs, pour qu'ils fassent mourir David. Mais Jonathan, fils de Saül, se réjouissait beaucoup de David.
And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, to kill David.
2 Jonathan dit à David: « Saül, mon père, cherche à te tuer. Prends donc soin de toi dès le matin, vis dans un lieu secret et cache-toi.
And Jonathan, Saul's son, loved David much: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul seeks to kill you: take heed to yourself therefore to-morrow morning, and hide yourself, and dwell in secret.
3 Je sortirai et je me tiendrai près de mon père dans le champ où tu es, et je parlerai de toi à mon père; et si je vois quelque chose, je te le dirai. »
And I will go forth, and stand near my father in the field where you shall be, and I will speak concerning you to my father; and I will see what his answer may be, and I will tell you.
4 Jonathan parla en bien de David à Saül, son père, et lui dit: « Que le roi ne pèche pas contre son serviteur, contre David, car il n'a pas péché contre toi, et parce que ses œuvres ont été très bonnes à ton égard;
And Jonathan spoke favourably concerning David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against your servant David, for he has not sinned against you, and his deeds [are] very good.
5 car il a mis sa vie en main et a frappé le Philistin, et Yahvé a remporté une grande victoire pour tout Israël. Vous l'avez vu et vous vous êtes réjouis. Pourquoi donc voulez-vous pécher contre le sang innocent, pour tuer David sans cause? »
And he put his life in his hand, and struck the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great deliverance; and all Israel saw, and rejoined: why then do you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?
6 Saül écouta la voix de Jonathan, et Saül jura: « L'Éternel est vivant, il ne sera pas mis à mort. »
And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan; and Saul swore, saying, [As] the Lord lives, he shall not die.
7 Jonathan appela David, et il lui fit voir toutes ces choses. Puis Jonathan amena David à Saül, et il fut en sa présence comme auparavant.
And Jonathan called David, and told him all these words; and Jonathan brought David in to Saul, and he was before him as in former times.
8 Il y eut de nouveau une guerre. David sortit, combattit les Philistins, et les tua par une grande défaite; ils s'enfuirent devant lui.
And there was again war against Saul; and David did valiantly, and fought against the Philistines, and struck them with a very great slaughter, and they fled from before him.
9 Un mauvais esprit de Yahvé était sur Saül, qui était assis dans sa maison, sa lance à la main, et David jouait de la musique avec sa main.
And an evil spirit from God was upon Saul, and he was resting in his house, and a spear [was] in his hand, and David was playing on the harp with his hands.
10 Saül chercha à clouer David au mur avec la lance, mais celui-ci se déroba à la présence de Saül, et il planta la lance dans le mur. David prit la fuite et s'échappa cette nuit-là.
And Saul sought to strike David with the spear; and David withdrew [suddenly] from the presence of Saul; and he drove the spear into the wall; and David retreated and escaped.
11 Saül envoya des messagers à la maison de David pour le surveiller et le tuer au matin. Mical, la femme de David, lui dit: « Si tu ne sauves pas ta vie cette nuit, demain tu seras tué. »
And it came to pass in that night, that Saul sent messengers to the house of David to watch him, in order to kill him in the morning; and Melchol David's wife told him, saying, Unless you save your life this night, to-morrow you shall be slain.
12 Alors Mical fit descendre David par la fenêtre. Il s'en alla, prit la fuite et s'échappa.
So Melchol lets David down by the window, and he departed, and fled, and escaped.
13 Michal prit le théraphim et le coucha dans le lit; elle mit à sa tête un coussin de poils de chèvre et le couvrit de vêtements.
And Melchol took images, and laid them on the bed, and she put the liver of a goat by his head, and covered them with clothes.
14 Lorsque Saül envoya des messagers pour prendre David, elle dit: « Il est malade. »
And Saul sent messengers to take David; and they say that he is sick.
15 Saül envoya les messagers voir David, en disant: « Amenez-le-moi sur le lit, afin que je le tue. »
And he sends to David, saying, Bring him to me on the bed, that I may kill him.
16 Lorsque les messagers entrèrent, voici, le théraphim était dans le lit, avec le coussin de poils de chèvre à sa tête.
And the messengers come, and, behold, the images [were] on the bed, and the goat's liver at his head.
17 Saül dit à Mical: « Pourquoi m'as-tu trompé de la sorte et as-tu laissé partir mon ennemi, qui s'est échappé? » Michal répondit à Saül: « Il m'a dit: « Laisse-moi partir! Pourquoi devrais-je te tuer? »
And Saul said to Melchol, Why have you thus deceived me, and suffered my enemy to depart, and he has escaped? and Melchol said to Saul, He said, let me go, and if not, I will kill you.
18 David s'enfuit et s'échappa; il alla trouver Samuel à Rama, et lui raconta tout ce que Saül lui avait fait. Il partit avec Samuel et s'installa à Naïoth.
So David fled, and escaped, and comes to Samuel to Armathaim, and tells him all that Saul had done to him: and Samuel and David went, and lived in Navath in Rama.
19 On fit dire à Saül: « Voici, David est à Naïoth, à Rama. »
And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David [is] in Navath in Rama.
20 Saül envoya des messagers pour s'emparer de David; et lorsqu'ils virent la troupe des prophètes en train de prophétiser, et Samuel debout à leur tête, l'Esprit de Dieu vint sur les messagers de Saül, et ils prophétisèrent aussi.
And Saul sent messengers to take David, and they saw the assembly of the prophets, and Samuel stood [as] appointed over them; and the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they prophesy.
21 Lorsque Saül en fut informé, il envoya d'autres messagers, qui prophétisèrent eux aussi. Saül envoya de nouveau des messagers la troisième fois, et ils prophétisèrent aussi.
And it was told Saul, and he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied: and Saul sent again a third set of messengers, and they also prophesied.
22 Il alla aussi à Rama, et arriva au grand puits qui est à Secu; il demanda: « Où sont Samuel et David? » L'un d'eux a dit: « Voici, ils sont à Naioth, à Rama. »
And Saul was very angry, and went himself also to Armathaim, and he comes as far as the well of the threshing floor that is in Sephi; and he asked and said, Where [are] Samuel and David? And they said, Behold, in Navath in Rama.
23 Il alla ensuite à Naïoth, à Rama. L'Esprit de Dieu vint aussi sur lui, et il continua à prophétiser, jusqu'à ce qu'il arrivât à Naïoth, à Rama.
And he went thence to Navath in Rama: and there came the Spirit of God upon him also, and he went on prophesying till he came to Navath in Rama.
24 Il se dépouilla aussi de ses vêtements. Il prophétisa aussi devant Samuel et se coucha nu tout ce jour-là et toute cette nuit-là. C'est pourquoi on dit: « Saul est-il aussi au nombre des prophètes? »
And he took off his clothes, and prophesied before them; and lay down naked all that day and all that night: therefore they said, [Is] Saul also amongst the prophets?
