1 Le roi Salomon était roi de tout Israël.
Now king Solomon was reigning over all of Israel.
2 Voici les princes qu'il avait: Azaria, fils de Tsadok, prêtre;
And these were the leaders that he had: Azariah, the son of Zadok, the priest;
3 Elihoreph et Achija, fils de Schisha, scribes; Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, archiviste;
Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha, the scribes; Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, the keeper of records;
4 Benaja, fils de Jehojada, chef de l'armée; Tsadok et Abiathar, prêtres;
Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, over the army; and Zadok, and Abiathar, priests;
5 Azaria, fils de Nathan, était à la tête des officiers; Zabud, fils de Nathan, était ministre en chef, ami du roi;
Azariah, the son of Nathan, over those who were assisting the king; Zabud, the son of Nathan, the priest, the friend of the king;
6 Ahishar était à la tête de la maison; Adoniram, fils d'Abda, était à la tête des hommes soumis au travail forcé.
and Ahishar, first ruler of the house; and Adoniram, the son of Abda, over the tribute.
7 Salomon avait douze officiers sur tout Israël, qui fournissaient la nourriture au roi et à sa famille. Chaque homme devait faire des provisions pour un mois de l'année.
And Solomon had twelve commanders over all of Israel, who offered yearly provisions for the king and his house. For each was ministering the necessities, by each month of the year.
8 Voici leurs noms: Ben Hur, dans la montagne d'Éphraïm;
And these are their names: Benhur, on mount Ephraim;
9 Ben Deker, à Makaz, à Shaalbim, à Beth Shemesh et à Elon Beth Hanan;
Bendeker, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and in Beth-shemesh, and in Elon, and in Beth-hanan;
10 Ben Hesed, à Arubboth (Socoh et tout le pays de Hepher lui appartenaient);
Benhesed, in Arubboth: his was Socoh and the entire land of Hepher;
11 Ben Abinadab, dans toute la hauteur de Dor (il avait pour femme Taphath, la fille de Salomon);
Benabinadab, to whom was all of Naphath-Dor, who had Taphath, the daughter of Solomon, as wife;
12 Baana, fils d'Ahilud, à Taanach et à Megiddo, et tout Beth Shean qui est à côté de Zarethan, au-dessous de Jezreel, depuis Beth Shean jusqu'à Abel Meholah, jusqu'au-delà de Jokmeam;
Baana, the son of Ahilud, who was reigning in Taanach, and Megiddo, and all of Bethshean, which is beside Zarethan and below Jezreel, from Bethshean as far as Abelmeholah, opposite Jokmeam;
13 Ben Geber, à Ramoth Gilead (les villes de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, qui sont en Galaad, lui appartenaient; et la région d'Argob, qui est en Basan, soixante grandes villes avec des murs et des barres de bronze, lui appartenaient);
Bengeber, in Ramoth Gilead, who had the town of Jair, the son of Manasseh, in Gilead; the same was first in the entire region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls that had bronze bars;
14 Ahinadab, fils d'Iddo, à Mahanaïm;
Ahinadab, the son of Iddo, who was first in Mahanaim;
15 Ahimaaz, à Nephtali (il prit aussi pour femme Basemath, fille de Salomon);
Ahimaaz, in Naphtali, and he also had Basemath, the daughter of Solomon, in marriage;
16 Baana, fils de Hushaï, à Aser et à Bealoth;
Baana, the son of Hushai, in Asher and in Bealoth;
17 Josaphat, fils de Paruah, en Issachar;
Jehoshaphat, the son of Paruah, in Issachar;
18 Shimei, fils d'Ela, en Benjamin;
Shimei, the son of Ela, in Benjamin;
19 Geber, fils d'Uri, dans le pays de Galaad, le pays de Sihon, roi des Amorites, et d'Og, roi de Basan.
Geber, the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and of Og, king of Bashan, over all who were in that land.
20 Juda et Israël étaient en foule comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer, mangeant, buvant et s'amusant.
Judah and Israel were innumerable, like the sand of the sea in multitude: eating and drinking, and rejoicing.
21 Salomon régnait sur tous les royaumes, depuis le fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière de l'Égypte. Ils apportaient un tribut et servaient Salomon tous les jours de sa vie.
Now Solomon had, in his dominion, all the kingdoms, from the river to the land of the Philistines, even to the border of Egypt. And they offered gifts to him, and they served him all the days of his life.
22 La provision de Salomon pour un jour était de trente cors de fine farine, soixante mesures de farine,
And the provisions of Solomon, for each day, were thirty cor of fine wheat flour, and sixty cor of meal,
23 dix têtes de bétail gras, vingt têtes de bétail de pâturage et cent moutons, sans compter les cerfs, les gazelles, les chevreuils et les volailles engraissées.
ten fattened oxen, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred rams, aside from the venison of stags, roe deer, and gazelles, and fattened poultry.
24 Il dominait sur tout ce qui est de ce côté du fleuve, depuis Tiphsah jusqu'à Gaza, sur tous les rois de ce côté du fleuve, et il avait la paix de tous côtés autour de lui.
For he had obtained the entire region which was beyond the river, from Tiphsah as far as Gaza, and all the kings of those regions. And he had peace on every side all around.
25 Juda et Israël vécurent en sécurité, chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer Schéba, pendant toute la durée de Salomon.
And so, Judah and Israel were living without any fear, each one under his own vine and under his own fig tree, from Dan as far as Beersheba, during all the days of Solomon.
26 Salomon avait quarante mille stalles de chevaux pour ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers.
And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of chariot horses, and twelve thousand riding horses.
27 Ces officiers fournissaient la nourriture au roi Salomon et à tous ceux qui venaient à la table du roi Salomon, chacun dans son mois. Ils ne manquèrent de rien.
And the above-stated commanders of the king nourished these. And they also offered the necessities for the table of king Solomon, with immense diligence, each in his time.
28 On apportait aussi de l'orge et de la paille pour les chevaux et les coursiers au lieu où se trouvaient les officiers, chacun selon son devoir.
Also, they brought barley and straw for the horses and beasts of burden, to the place where the king was, just as it was appointed to them.
29 Dieu donna à Salomon une sagesse abondante, de l'intelligence et de la largeur d'esprit, comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer.
And God gave wisdom to Solomon, and an exceedingly great prudence, and a spacious heart, like the sand which is on the shore of the sea.
30 La sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les enfants de l'Orient et toute la sagesse de l'Égypte.
And the wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of all the East, and of the Egyptians.
31 Car il était plus sage que tous les hommes, plus sage qu'Éthan d'Esdras, qu'Héman, que Calcol et que Darda, les fils de Mahol, et sa renommée était dans toutes les nations d'alentour.
And he was wiser than all men: wiser than Ethan, the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And he was renowned in all the nations on every side.
32 Il prononçait trois mille proverbes, et ses chansons étaient au nombre de mille cinq.
Solomon also spoke three thousand parables. And his verses were one thousand and five.
33 Il parlait des arbres, depuis le cèdre du Liban jusqu'à l'hysope qui pousse sur la muraille; il parlait aussi des animaux, des oiseaux, des reptiles et des poissons.
And he discoursed about trees, from the cedar which is in Lebanon, to the hyssop which grows out from the wall. And he explained about beasts, and birds, and reptiles, and fish.
34 Des gens de toutes les nations vinrent écouter la sagesse de Salomon, envoyés par tous les rois de la terre qui avaient entendu parler de sa sagesse.
And they came from all the peoples in order to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who were hearing about his wisdom.
