1 Rois 15

1 La dix-huitième année du roi Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, Abijam commença à régner sur Juda.

And in the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nabat, Abiu son of Roboam reigns over Juda.

2 Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Maaca, fille d'Abischalom.

And he reigned three years over Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Maacha, daughter of Abessalom.

3 Il marcha dans tous les péchés de son père, qu'il avait commis avant lui; et son cœur ne fut pas parfait avec l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme le cœur de David, son père.

And he walked in the sins of his father which he wrought in his presence, and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as [was] the heart of his father [David].

4 Cependant, à cause de David, l'Éternel, son Dieu, lui donna une lampe à Jérusalem, pour qu'il établisse son fils après lui et qu'il affermisse Jérusalem;

Howbeit for David's sake the Lord gave him a remnant, that he might establish his children after him, and might establish Jerusalem.

5 car David fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel et ne se détourna pas de ce qu'il lui avait ordonné tous les jours de sa vie, sauf dans l'affaire d'Urie, le Héthien.

Forasmuch as David did that which was right in the sight of the Lord: he turned not from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life.

6 Or il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam tous les jours de sa vie.

7 Le reste des actes d'Abijam, et tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-ce pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? Il y eut une guerre entre Abijam et Jéroboam.

And the rest of the history of Abiu, and all that he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? And there was war between Abiu and Jeroboam.

8 Abijam se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David; et Asa, son fils, régna à sa place.

And Abiu slept with his fathers in the twenty-fourth year of Jeroboam; and he is buried with his fathers in the city of David: And Asa his son reigns in his stead.

9 La vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa commença à régner sur Juda.

In the four and twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa begins to reign over Juda.

10 Il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Maaca, fille d'Abischalom.

And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Ana, daughter of Abessalom.

11 Asa fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme avait fait David, son père.

And Asa did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.

12 Il chassa les sodomites du pays et fit disparaître toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient fabriquées.

And he removed the sodomites out of the land, and abolished all the practices which his fathers had kept up.

13 Il chassa aussi Maaca, sa mère, de la royauté, parce qu'elle avait fait une image abominable d'Ashérah. Asa abattit son image et la brûla au torrent de Cédron.

And he removed Ana his mother from being queen, forasmuch as she gathered a meeting in her grove: and Asa cut down her retreats, and burnt them with fire in the brook of Kedron.

14 Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas. Cependant le cœur d'Asa fut parfait avec Yahvé pendant toute sa vie.

But he removed not the high places; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord all his days.

15 Il apporta dans la maison de l'Éternel les choses que son père avait consacrées et celles qu'il avait lui-même consacrées: argent, or et ustensiles.

And he brought in the pillars of his father, he even brought in his gold and silver pillars into the house of the Lord, and [his] vessels.

16 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baescha, roi d'Israël, pendant toute leur vie.

And there was war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel all their days.

17 Baescha, roi d'Israël, monta contre Juda et bâtit Rama, afin de ne permettre à personne de sortir ou d'entrer chez Asa, roi de Juda.

And Baasa king of Israel went up against Juda, and built Rama, so that no one should go out or come in for Asa king of Juda.

18 Alors Asa prit tout l'argent et tout l'or qui restaient dans les trésors de la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il les remit entre les mains de ses serviteurs. Le roi Asa les envoya à Ben Hadad, fils de Tabrimmon, fils de Hezion, roi de Syrie, qui habitait à Damas, en disant:

And Asa took all the silver and the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hands of his servants; and king Asa sent them out to the son of Ader, the son of Taberema son of Azin king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,

19 « Qu'il y ait un traité entre moi et toi, comme celui qui a été conclu entre mon père et ton père. Voici que je t'envoie un présent d'argent et d'or. Va, romps ton traité avec Baasha, roi d'Israël, afin qu'il s'éloigne de moi. »

Make a covenant between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: lo! I have sent forth to thee gold and silver [for] gifts: come, break thy league with Baasa king of Israel, that he may go up from me.

20 Ben Hadad écouta le roi Asa et envoya les chefs de ses armées contre les villes d'Israël. Il frappa Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maaca, et tout Chinneroth, avec tout le pays de Nephtali.

And the son of Ader hearkened to king Asa, and sent the chiefs of his forces to the cities of Israel; and they smote Ain, Dan, and Abel of the house of Maacha, and all Chennereth, as far as the whole land of Nephthali.

21 Lorsque Baescha l'apprit, il cessa de construire Rama et s'établit à Thirtsa.

And it came to pass when Baasa heard it, that he left off building Rama, and returned to Thersa.

22 Alors le roi Asa fit une proclamation à tout Juda. Personne n'en fut exempté. On emporta les pierres de Rama et le bois avec lequel Baescha avait construit, et le roi Asa s'en servit pour bâtir Guéba de Benjamin et Mitspa.

And king Asa charged all Juda without exception: and they take up the stones of Rama and its timbers [with] which Baasa was building; and king Asa built with them upon the whole hill of Benjamin, and the watch-tower.

23 Et le reste de tous les actes d'Asa, et toute sa puissance, et tout ce qu'il a fait, et les villes qu'il a bâties, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Juda? Mais au temps de sa vieillesse, il fut atteint d'une maladie des pieds.

And the rest of the history of Asa, and all his mighty deeds which he wrought, and the cities which he built, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 Asa se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père; et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.

And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Josaphat his son reigns in his stead.

25 Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, régna sur Israël la deuxième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et il régna deux ans sur Israël.

And Nabat son of Jeroboam reigns over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Juda, and he reigned two years in Israel.

26 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il marcha dans la voie de son père, dans le péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sins wherein he caused Israel to sin.

27 Baasha, fils d'Achija, de la maison d'Issacar, conspira contre lui, et Baasha le frappa à Gibbethon, qui appartenait aux Philistins, car Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Gibbethon.

And Baasa son of Achia, [who was] over the house of Belaan son of Achia, conspired against him, and smote him in Gabathon of the Philistines; for Nabat and all Israel were besieging Gabathon.

28 La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Baasha le tua et régna à sa place.

And Baasa slew him in the third year of Asa son of Asa king of Juda; and reigned in his stead.

29 Dès qu'il fut roi, il frappa toute la maison de Jéroboam. Il ne laissa à Jéroboam aucun être qui respirait, jusqu'à ce qu'il l'eût fait périr, selon la parole que Yahvé avait prononcée par son serviteur Achija, le Silonite,

And it came to pass when he reigned, that he smote the whole house of Jeroboam, and left none that breathed of Jeroboam, until he has destroyed him utterly, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke by his servant Achia the Selonite,

30 à cause des péchés que Jéroboam avait commis et par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël, à cause de la provocation par laquelle il avait irrité Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël.

for the sins of Jeroboam, who led Israel into sin, even by his provocation wherewith he provoked the Lord God of Israel.

31 Et le reste des actes de Nadab, et tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-ce pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d'Israël?

And the rest of the history of Nabat, and all that he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baescha, roi d'Israël, pendant toute leur vie.

[And there was a war between Asa and Baasa king of Israel in all their days. ]

33 La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Baescha, fils d'Achija, régna sur tout Israël à Thirtsa pendant vingt-quatre ans.

And in the third year of Asa king of Juda, Baasa the son of Achia begins to reign over Israel in Thersa, twenty and four years.

34 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel et marcha dans la voie de Jéroboam, dans le péché par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and in his sins, as he caused Israel to sin.
