1 Rois 13
1 Voici, un homme de Dieu sortit de Juda, par la parole de l'Éternel, pour se rendre à Béthel; et Jéroboam se tenait près de l'autel pour brûler des parfums.
And lo! a man of God cam fro Juda, bi the word of the Lord, in to Bethel, while Jeroboam stood on the auter, `and castide encence.
2 Il cria contre l'autel, par la parole de l'Éternel, et dit: « Autel! Autel! Autel! Yahvé dit: 'Voici qu'il va naître un fils à la maison de David, nommé Josias. Sur toi, il sacrifiera les prêtres des hauts lieux qui brûlent de l'encens, et ils brûleront sur toi des ossements d'hommes.'"
And `the man of God criede ayens the auter, bi the word of the Lord, and seide, Auter! auter! the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! a sone, Josias by name, shal be borun to the hows of Dauid; and he schal offre on thee the preestis of hiye thingis, that brennen now encensis yn thee, and he schal brenne the bonys of men on thee.
3 Il donna un signe le même jour, en disant: « Voici le signe que Yahvé a annoncé: Voici que l'autel se fendra et que les cendres qui sont dessus seront répandues. »
And he yaf a signe in that dai, `and seide, This schal be `the signe that the Lord spak, Lo! the auter schal be kit, and the aische which is `there ynne, schal be sched out.
4 Lorsque le roi entendit la parole de l'homme de Dieu, qu'il criait contre l'autel de Béthel, Jéroboam étendit sa main de l'autel, en disant: « Saisissez-le! » Sa main, qu'il avait étendue contre lui, se dessécha, de sorte qu'il ne put la ramener à lui.
And whanne the kyng hadde herd the word of the man of God, which word he hadde cried ayens the auter in Bethel, the kyng helde forth his hond fro the auter, and seide, Take ye hym. And his hond driede, which he hadde holde forth, and he myyte not drawe it ayen to hym silf.
5 L'autel fut aussi fendu, et les cendres furent répandues de l'autel, selon le signe que l'homme de Dieu avait donné par la parole de l'Éternel.
Also the auter was kit, and the aische was sched out of the auter, bi the signe which the man of God bifor seide, in the word of the Lord.
6 Le roi répondit à l'homme de Dieu: « Maintenant, intercède en faveur de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, afin que ma main me soit rendue. » L'homme de Dieu intercéda auprès de Yahvé, et la main du roi lui fut rendue à nouveau, et redevint comme avant.
And the kyng seide to the man of God, Biseche thou the face of thi Lord God, and preie thou for me, that myn hond be restorid to me. And the man of God preiede the face of God; and the hond of the king turnede ayen to hym, and it was maad as it was bifore.
7 Le roi dit à l'homme de Dieu: « Viens chez moi et rafraîchis-toi, et je te donnerai une récompense. »
Sotheli the kyng spak to the man of God, Come thou hoom with me, that thou ete, and Y schal yyue yiftis to thee.
8 L'homme de Dieu dit au roi: « Même si tu me donnais la moitié de ta maison, je n'entrerais pas avec toi, et je ne mangerais pas de pain et ne boirais pas d'eau dans ce lieu;
And the man of God seide to the kyng, Thouy thou schalt yyue to me the half part of thin hows, Y schal not come with thee, nether Y schal ete breed, nether Y schal drynke watir in this place;
9 car c'est ce que m'a ordonné la parole de l'Éternel, en disant: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain, tu ne boiras pas d'eau, et tu ne reviendras pas par le chemin par lequel tu es venu. »
`for so it is comaundid to me bi the word of the Lord, comaundinge, Thou schalt not ete breed, nether thou schalt drynke water, nether thou schalt turne ayen bi the weie bi which thou camest.
10 Il prit donc un autre chemin, et ne revint pas par le chemin par lequel il était venu à Béthel.
Therfor he yede bi another weie, and turnede not ayen bi the weie, bi which he cam in to Bethel.
11 Or, un vieux prophète habitait à Béthel, et l'un de ses fils vint lui raconter toutes les œuvres que l'homme de Dieu avait faites ce jour-là à Béthel. Ils racontèrent aussi à leur père les paroles qu'il avait dites au roi.
Forsothe sum elde profete dwellide in Bethel, to whom hise sones camen, and telden to hym alle the werkis whiche the man of God hadde do in that dai in Bethel; and thei telden to her fader the wordis whiche he spak to the kyng.
12 Leur père leur dit: « Par où est-il allé? » Or ses fils avaient vu par où allait l'homme de Dieu, qui venait de Juda.
And the fadir of hem seide to hem, Bi what weie yede he? Hise sones schewiden to hym the weie, bi which the man of God yede, that cam fro Juda.
13 Il dit à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l'âne. » Ils sellèrent donc l'âne pour lui, et il monta dessus.
And he seide to hise sones, Sadle ye an asse to me. And whanne thei hadden sadlid,
14 Il poursuivit l'homme de Dieu, et le trouva assis sous un chêne. Il lui dit: « Es-tu l'homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda? » Il a dit: « Je le suis. »
he stiede, and yede after the man of God, and foond hym sittyng vndur a terebynte. And he seide to the man of God, Whether thou art the man of God, that camest fro Juda? He answeride, Y am.
15 Et il lui dit: « Viens à la maison avec moi et mange du pain. »
And he seide to hym, Come thou with me hoom, that thou ete breed.
16 Il dit: « Je ne retournerai pas avec vous et je n'entrerai pas avec vous. Je ne mangerai pas de pain et ne boirai pas d'eau avec vous dans ce lieu.
And he seide, Y may not turne ayen, nether come with thee, nether Y schal ete breed, nether Y schal drynke water in this place;
17 Car il m'a été dit par la parole de l'Éternel: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain et tu ne boiras pas d'eau dans ce lieu, et tu ne te retourneras pas pour prendre le chemin par lequel tu es venu. »
for the Lord spak to me in the word of the Lord, and seide, Thou schalt not ete breed, and thou schalt not drynke water there, nether thou schalt turne ayen bi the weie bi which thou yedist.
18 Il lui dit: « Moi aussi, je suis prophète comme toi, et un ange m'a parlé par la parole de Yahvé, en disant: « Ramène-le chez toi, dans ta maison, pour qu'il mange du pain et boive de l'eau. » Il lui a menti.
Which seide to hym, And Y am a profete lijk thee; and an aungel spak to me bi the word of the Lord, and seide, Lede ayen hym in to thin hows, that he ete breed, and drynke watir. He disseyuede the man of God,
19 Il s'en retourna donc avec lui, mangea du pain dans sa maison et but de l'eau.
and brouyte him ayen with hym. Therfor he ete breed in his hows, and drank watir.
20 Comme ils étaient assis à table, la parole de Yahvé vint au prophète qui l'avait ramené
And whanne he sat at the table, the word of the Lord was maad to the prophete that brouyte hym ayen;
21 et il cria à l'homme de Dieu venu de Juda: « Yahvé dit: 'Parce que tu as désobéi à la parole de Yahvé et que tu n'as pas observé le commandement que Yahvé ton Dieu t'avait prescrit,
and he criede to the man of God that cam fro Juda, and seide, The Lord seith these thingis, For thou obeidist not to the mouth of the Lord, and keptist not the comaundement which thi Lord God comaundide to thee,
22 mais que tu es revenu, que tu as mangé du pain et bu de l'eau dans le lieu dont il t'avait dit: « Ne mange pas de pain et ne bois pas d'eau », ton corps ne viendra pas au tombeau de tes pères.'"
and thou turnedist ayen, and etist breed, and drankist watir in the place in which Y comaundide to thee, that thou schuldist not ete breed, nether schuldist drynke watir, thi deed bodi schal not be borun in to the sepulcre of thi fadris.
23 Après avoir mangé du pain et après avoir bu, il sella l'âne pour le prophète qu'il avait ramené.
And whanne he hadde ete and drunke, the prophete, whom he hadde brouyt ayen, sadlide his asse.
24 Comme il était parti, un lion le rencontra sur le chemin et le tua. Son corps fut jeté sur le chemin, et l'âne se tenait près de lui. Le lion aussi se tenait près du corps.
And whanne he hadde go, a lioun foond hym in the weye, and killide hym. And his deed bodi was cast forth in the weie; sotheli the asse stood bisydis hym, and the lioun stood bisidis the deed bodi.
25 Voici que des gens passaient par là et voyaient le corps jeté sur le chemin et le lion qui se tenait près du corps; ils vinrent le raconter dans la ville où habitait le vieux prophète.
And lo! men passynge sien the deed bodi cast forth in the weye, and the lyoun stondynge bisidis the deed bodi; and thei camen, and pupplischiden in the citee, in which thilke eeld prophete dwellide.
26 Lorsque le prophète qui l'avait ramené du chemin l'apprit, il dit: « C'est l'homme de Dieu qui a désobéi à la parole de l'Éternel. C'est pourquoi l'Éternel l'a livré au lion, qui l'a déchiqueté et l'a tué, selon la parole que l'Éternel lui avait adressée. »
And whanne thilke prophete, that brouyte hym ayen fro the weye, hadde herd this, he seide, It is the man of God, that was vnobedient to the mouth of God; and the Lord bitook hym to the lioun, that brak hym, and killide hym, bi the word of the Lord which he spak to hym.
27 Il dit à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l'âne », et ils le sellèrent.
And he seide to hise sones, Sadle ye an asse to me.
28 Il s'en alla et trouva son corps jeté sur le chemin, et l'âne et le lion debout près du corps. Le lion n'avait pas mangé le corps ni malmené l'âne.
And whanne thei hadden sadlid, and he hadde go, he foond his deed bodi cast forth in the weie, and the asse and the lioun stondinge bisidis the deed bodi; and the lioun eet not the deed bodi, nether hirtide the asse.
29 Le prophète prit le corps de l'homme de Dieu, le mit sur l'âne et le ramena. Il se rendit dans la ville du vieux prophète pour le pleurer et l'enterrer.
Therfor the profete took the deed bodi of the man of God, and puttide it on the asse; and he turnede ayen, and brouyte it in to the cyte of the eeld prophete, that he schulde biweile hym.
30 Il mit son corps dans son propre sépulcre, et l'on pleura sur lui en disant: « Hélas, mon frère! »
And he puttide his deed bodi in his sepulcre, and thei biweiliden him, Alas! alas! my brother!
31 Après l'avoir enterré, il parla à ses fils en disant: « Quand je serai mort, enterrez-moi dans le tombeau où est enterré l'homme de Dieu. Mettez mes os à côté de ses os.
And whanne thei hadden biweilid hym, he seide to hise sones, Whanne Y schal be deed, birie ye me in the sepulcre, in which the man of God is biried; putte ye my bonys bisidis hise bonys.
32 Car ce qu'il a crié par la parole de Yahvé contre l'autel de Béthel et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie, arrivera certainement. »
For sotheli the word schal come, which he bifor seide in the word of the Lord, ayens the auter which is in Bethel, and ayens alle the templis of hiy placis, that ben in the citees of Samarie.
33 Après cela, Jéroboam ne revint pas de sa mauvaise voie, mais il établit de nouveau des prêtres des hauts lieux parmi tout le peuple. Il consacrait celui qui le voulait, afin qu'il y ait des prêtres des hauts lieux.
After these wordis Jeroboam turnede not ayen fro his werste weie, but ayenward of the laste puplis he made preestis of hiye places; who euer wolde, fillide his hond, and he was maad preest of hiy placis.
34 Cette chose devint un péché pour la maison de Jéroboam, au point de l'exterminer et de la faire disparaître de la surface de la terre.
And for this cause the hows of Jeroboam synnede, and it was distried, and doon awey fro the face of erthe.
