1 Corinthiens 4
1 Que l'homme nous considère donc comme les serviteurs du Christ et les intendants des mystères de Dieu.
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Ici, d'ailleurs, on exige des intendants qu'ils soient trouvés fidèles.
Moreover, it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.
3 Mais pour moi, il est bien peu de chose que je sois jugé par vous, ou par un tribunal humain. Oui, je ne me juge même pas moi-même.
But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment: yes, I judge not my own self.
4 Car je ne sais rien contre moi-même. Et ce n'est pas moi qui suis justifié par cela, mais celui qui me juge, c'est le Seigneur.
For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5 C'est pourquoi ne jugez de rien avant le temps, jusqu'à ce que vienne le Seigneur, qui mettra en lumière ce qui est caché dans les ténèbres, et qui révélera les desseins des cœurs. Alors chacun recevra de Dieu sa louange.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord shall come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise from God.
6 Or, frères, j'ai transféré ces choses en figure à moi-même et à Apollos, à cause de vous, afin que vous appreniez en nous à ne pas penser au-delà de ce qui est écrit, et qu'aucun de vous ne s'enflamme contre un autre.
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself, and [to] Apollos, for your sakes; that ye may learn in us not to think [of men] above that which is written, that no one of you on account of one, may be puffed up against another.
7 Car qui vous distingue? Et qu'avez-vous que vous n'ayez reçu? Mais si vous l'avez reçu, pourquoi vous vantez-vous comme si vous ne l'aviez pas reçu?
For who maketh thee to differ [from another]? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive [it], why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received [it]?
8 Vous êtes déjà comblé. Tu es déjà devenu riche. Tu es venu pour régner sans nous. Oui, et je voudrais que vous régniez, afin que nous aussi nous régnions avec vous!
Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I wish ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
9 Car je pense que Dieu nous a montrés, nous les apôtres, en dernier lieu, comme des condamnés à mort. Car nous sommes donnés en spectacle au monde, aux anges et aux hommes.
For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.
10 Nous sommes des insensés à cause de Christ, mais vous êtes sages en Christ. Nous sommes faibles, mais vous êtes forts. Vous avez la gloire, mais nous avons le déshonneur.
We [are] fools for Christ's sake, but ye [are] wise in Christ; we [are] weak, but ye [are] strong; ye [are] honorable, but we [are] despised.
11 A l'heure qu'il est, nous avons faim, nous avons soif, nous sommes nus, nous sommes battus, et nous n'avons pas de demeure sûre.
Even to this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;
12 Nous peinons, nous travaillons de nos propres mains. Quand on nous maudit, nous bénissons. Nous sommes persécutés, mais nous supportons.
And labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it;
13 On nous diffame, nous supplions. Nous sommes faits comme la souillure du monde, la saleté essuyée par tous, jusqu'à présent.
Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things to this day.
14 Je n'écris pas ces choses pour vous faire honte, mais pour vous avertir comme mes enfants bien-aimés.
I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn [you].
15 Car si vous avez dix mille précepteurs dans le Christ, vous n'avez pas beaucoup de pères. Car en Jésus-Christ, je suis devenu votre père par la Bonne Nouvelle.
For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Je vous en prie donc, soyez mes imitateurs.
Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
17 C'est pourquoi je vous ai envoyé Timothée, mon enfant bien-aimé et fidèle dans le Seigneur, qui vous rappellera mes voies qui sont dans le Christ, comme je l'enseigne partout dans toutes les assemblées.
For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who will bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
18 Or, certains s'enflent d'orgueil, comme si je ne venais pas à vous.
Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19 Mais je viendrai bientôt à vous, si le Seigneur le veut. Et je connaîtrai, non pas la parole de ceux qui s'enflent, mais la puissance.
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them who are puffed up, but the power.
20 Car le Royaume de Dieu n'est pas en paroles, mais en puissance.
For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power.
21 Que voulez-vous? Vais-je venir à vous avec une verge, ou avec amour et dans un esprit de douceur?
What will ye? shall I come to you with a rod, or in love, and [in] the spirit of meekness?
