1 Corinthiens 1

1 Paul, appelé à être apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et notre frère Sosthène,

Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

2 à l'assemblée de Dieu qui est à Corinthe, à ceux qui sont sanctifiés en Jésus-Christ, appelés saints, avec tous ceux qui invoquent le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, en tout lieu, chez eux et chez nous:

to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place — both theirs and ours:

3 Grâce et paix à vous, de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

4 Je rends toujours grâces à mon Dieu à votre sujet, pour la grâce de Dieu qui vous a été donnée en Jésus-Christ,

I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

5 afin que vous soyez enrichis en tout par lui, en toute parole et en toute connaissance,

that in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

6 comme le témoignage de Christ a été confirmé en vous,

according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 afin que vous ne soyez en retard d'aucun don, dans l'attente de la révélation de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,

so that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 qui vous confirmera aussi jusqu'à la fin, irréprochables au jour de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

who also shall confirm you unto the end — unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 Dieu est fidèle, celui par qui vous avez été appelés à la communion de son Fils, Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.

faithful [is] God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Or, je vous prie, frères, par le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de parler tous de la même chose, et qu'il n'y ait pas de divisions parmi vous, mais que vous soyez perfectionnés ensemble dans le même esprit et dans le même jugement.

And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

11 Car il m'a été rapporté à votre sujet, mes frères, par ceux de la maison de Chloé, qu'il y a des disputes parmi vous.

for it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

12 Or, je veux dire que chacun de vous dit: « Je suis Paul », « Je suis Apollos », « Je suis Céphas », et « Je suis le Christ ».

and I say this, that each one of you saith, 'I, indeed, am of Paul' — 'and I of Apollos,' — 'and I of Cephas,' — 'and I of Christ.'

13 Le Christ est-il divisé? Paul a-t-il été crucifié pour vous? Ou bien avez-vous été baptisé au nom de Paul?

Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

14 Je rends grâces à Dieu de ce que je n'ai baptisé aucun de vous, excepté Crispus et Gaïus,

I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius —

15 afin que personne ne puisse dire que je vous ai baptisés en mon propre nom.

that no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;

16 (J'ai aussi baptisé la maison de Stéphanas; en dehors d'eux, je ne sais pas si j'en ai baptisé d'autres).

and I did baptize also Stephanas' household — further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.

17 Car ce n'est pas pour baptiser que Christ m'a envoyé, mais pour annoncer la Bonne Nouvelle, sans sagesse de mots, afin que la croix de Christ ne soit pas annulée.

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but — to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;

18 Car la parole de la croix est une folie pour ceux qui meurent, mais pour nous qui sommes sauvés, elle est une puissance de Dieu.

for the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us — those being saved — it is the power of God,

19 Car il est écrit, « Je détruirai la sagesse des sages. Je réduirai à néant le discernement de ceux qui savent discerner. »

for it hath been written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'

20 Où est le sage? Où est le scribe? Où est le discoureur de ce siècle? Dieu n'a-t-il pas rendu insensée la sagesse de ce monde? (aiōn g165)

where [is] the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)

21 En effet, puisque, dans la sagesse de Dieu, le monde n'a pas connu Dieu, Dieu a voulu, par la folie de la prédication, sauver ceux qui croient.

for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

22 Car les Juifs demandent des signes, les Grecs cherchent la sagesse,

Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

23 mais nous, nous prêchons Christ crucifié, pierre d'achoppement pour les Juifs et folie pour les Grecs,

also we — we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

24 mais pour ceux qui sont appelés, Juifs et Grecs, Christ est la puissance de Dieu et la sagesse de Dieu,

and to those called — both Jews and Greeks — Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

25 car la folie de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes, et la faiblesse de Dieu est plus forte que les hommes.

because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

26 Car vous voyez votre vocation, frères, qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup de sages selon la chair, ni beaucoup de puissants, ni beaucoup de nobles;

for see your calling, brethren, that not many [are] wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

27 mais Dieu a choisi les choses insensées du monde pour confondre les sages. Dieu a choisi les choses faibles du monde, pour couvrir de honte les choses fortes.

but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;

28 Dieu a choisi les choses humbles du monde, les choses méprisées, les choses qui n'existent pas, afin de réduire à néant les choses qui existent,

and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless —

29 pour que nulle chair ne se glorifie devant Dieu.

that no flesh may glory before Him;

30 C'est à cause de lui que vous êtes en Jésus-Christ, qui a été fait pour nous sagesse de Dieu, justice, sanctification et rédemption,

and of Him ye — ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

31 afin que, selon qu'il est écrit: « Que celui qui se glorifie se glorifie dans le Seigneur. »

that, according as it hath been written, 'He who is glorying — in the Lord let him glory.'
