1 Chroniques 28

1 David assembla à Jérusalem tous les chefs d'Israël, les chefs des tribus, les chefs des troupes qui servaient le roi par divisions, les chefs de milliers, les chefs de centaines, et les chefs de tous les biens et de toutes les possessions du roi et de ses fils, avec les officiers et les hommes forts, tous les vaillants hommes.

And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men to Jerusalem.

2 Alors le roi David se leva sur ses pieds et dit: « Écoutez-moi, mes frères et mon peuple! Moi, j'avais à cœur de bâtir une maison de repos pour l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé et pour le marchepied de notre Dieu, et j'avais préparé la construction.

Then David the king stood upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: [As for me], I [had] in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

3 Mais Dieu me dit: « Tu ne bâtiras pas une maison à mon nom, car tu es un homme de guerre et tu as versé du sang.

But God said to me, Thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou [hast been] a man of war, and hast shed blood.

4 Mais Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, m'a choisi parmi toute la maison de mon père pour être roi d'Israël à jamais. Car il a choisi Juda comme prince; et dans la maison de Juda, la maison de mon père, et parmi les fils de mon père, il a pris plaisir à me faire régner sur tout Israël.

However the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah [to be] the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he approved me to make [me] king over all Israel:

5 De tous mes fils (car l'Éternel m'a donné beaucoup de fils), il a choisi Salomon, mon fils, pour s'asseoir sur le trône du royaume de l'Éternel sur Israël.

And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons, ) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

6 Il m'a dit: « Salomon, ton fils, bâtira ma maison et mes parvis, car je l'ai choisi comme mon fils et je serai son père.

And he said to me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him [to be] my son, and I will be his father.

7 J'établirai son royaume pour toujours, s'il continue à pratiquer mes commandements et mes ordonnances, comme il le fait aujourd'hui.

Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he shall be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.

8 Maintenant, en présence de tout Israël, de l'assemblée de l'Éternel, et en présence de notre Dieu, observez et recherchez tous les commandements de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, afin de posséder ce bon pays et de le laisser en héritage à vos enfants après vous pour toujours.

Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave [it] for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.

9 Toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, et sers-le d'un cœur parfait et d'un esprit bien disposé; car Yahvé sonde tous les cœurs et comprend toutes les imaginations des pensées. Si tu le cherches, tu le trouveras, mais si tu l'abandonnes, il te rejettera pour toujours.

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou shalt seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou shalt forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

10 Prends garde maintenant, car Yahvé t'a choisi pour construire une maison pour le sanctuaire. Sois fort, et fais-le. »

Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do [it].

11 David donna à Salomon, son fils, les plans du portique du temple, de ses maisons, de ses trésors, de ses salles supérieures, de ses salles intérieures, de la place du propitiatoire,

Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses of it, and of its treasuries, and of its upper chambers, and of its inner parlors, and of the place of the mercy-seat,

12 et les plans de tout ce qu'il avait reçu de l'Esprit, pour les parvis de la maison de l'Éternel, pour toutes les salles environnantes, pour les trésors de la maison de Dieu et pour les trésors des choses consacrées;

And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers around, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:

13 aussi pour les divisions des prêtres et des lévites, pour tout le travail du service de la maison de l'Éternel, et pour tous les ustensiles de service de la maison de l'Éternel -

Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.

14 au poids d'or pour les ustensiles de service de toute espèce, au poids d'argent pour tous les ustensiles de service de toute espèce;

[He gave] of gold by weight for [things] of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; [silver also] for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:

15 de l'or, au poids, pour les chandeliers d'or et pour leurs lampes, d'or, au poids, pour chaque chandelier et pour ses lampes; et de l'argent, au poids, pour chaque chandelier et pour ses lampes, selon l'usage de chaque chandelier;

Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick, and for its lamps: and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, [both] for the candlestick, and [also] for its lamps, according to the use of every candlestick.

16 de l'or, au poids, pour les tables de pain de proposition, pour chaque table; et de l'argent, pour les tables d'argent;

And by weight [he gave] gold for the tables of show-bread, for every table; and [likewise] silver for the tables of silver:

17 les fourchettes, les bassins et les tasses d'or pur; les coupes d'or, au poids de chaque coupe; les coupes d'argent, au poids de chaque coupe;

Also pure gold for the flesh-hooks, and the bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basins [he gave gold] by weight for every basin; and [likewise silver] by weight for every basin of silver:

18 l'or pur pour l'autel des parfums; l'or pour les plans du char et les chérubins qui couvrent l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé.

And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubim, that spread out [their wings], and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

19 « Tout cela, dit David, m'a été expliqué par écrit, de la main de l'Éternel, tous les ouvrages de ce modèle. »

All [this], [said David], the LORD made me understand in writing by [his] hand upon me, [even] all the works of this pattern.

20 David dit à Salomon, son fils: « Sois fort et courageux, et fais-le. N'aie pas peur et ne t'effraie pas, car Yahvé Dieu, mon Dieu, est avec toi. Il ne te décevra pas et ne t'abandonnera pas, jusqu'à ce que soit achevé tout le travail pour le service de la maison de l'Éternel.

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong, and of good courage, and do [it]: fear not, nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, [even] my God, [will be] with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

21 Voici la répartition des prêtres et des lévites pour tout le service de la maison de Dieu. Tous les hommes de bonne volonté, qui ont de l'habileté pour quelque service que ce soit, seront avec vous pour toutes sortes de travaux. Les chefs et tout le peuple seront entièrement à tes ordres. »

And behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, [even they shall be with thee] for all the service of the house of God: and [there shall be] with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skillful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people [will be] wholly at thy command.
